Overall, the experience was enjoyable. I've been to high tea a few times now and I have noticed that the savoury canapés are always a bit underwhelming no matter where we go. The bread featured in the savoury canapés were a bit stale and dry. Not sure if that's by design but that was my impression. The savoury/sweet madeleine with the pickled fennel was a touch odd. I'm not sure how I felt about it but I wasn't a big fan. Other than that the sweets were pretty standard fare for high tea. I did enjoy the Midnight Blossom Tea. The Oolong tea we got was not bad, it tasted more like buttered popcorn than it did buttery shortbread. I enjoyed the mocktails. A great way to have something that's non-alcoholic. Service was great.
My friends and I meet for Afternoon Tea every Christmas and like to try different places. We were excited to try the Astor Lounge for the first time.
The good: The food for Afternoon Tea was great. Scones were delicious. Probably one of the better places when it comes to the food. Beautiful presentation. Staff accommodated special food requests which was greatly appreciated.
Room for improvement: Tea was ok, not very strong eventhough we steeped it for almost the entire time. The service itself was just ok, wouldn’t say top notch though.
Small lounge was very cold so we were uncomfortable. When we were ready to leave we noticed that other tables had also complained about the cold and were given space heaters.
Considering this is supposed to be a nice hotel, the washrooms were dirty. Don’t think they were cleaned during the entire 3 hours we were there.
Overall the Afternoon Tea was good, but probably not worth the $100/person (after taxes and tip). We are glad we tried it, but we won’t be returning.
In terms of both presentation and taste, the afternoon tea set was great! A good variety of quality tea was available and the server explained about each type of tea thoroughly. The only let down was the state of the washrooms which were located in the basement- far from a five star hotel standard.
Very good. One of the best we’ve been to in Toronto. And we’ve been to most. :)
I can not say enough good things about our experience at the Astor Lounge for afternoon tea. I made the reservation for a birthday celebration and they put us in a nice and intimate corner that was beautifully decorated and was just perfect for the occassion. Our server was very attentive and friendly, she guided us through the tea performance and promptly brought out our tea of choice. I was very impressed with the variety of Sloane's Tea they had and her knowledge on Sloane made it even more interesting. The food was served in a spinning carousel shelf contraption and it was such an impressive display of sandwiches, pastries, small cakes, cupcakes and other desserts. I was equally as impressed with the savoury items as I was the sweet. I LOVED the scones they served with the jams and butter cream, it was just the right temperature and it was divine. As we didn't consume alcohol, an alternative mocktail was offered to us to supplement and it was also delightful! One of the guest had dietary restrictions and a severe allergy, again the staff members went above and beyond to accomodate and ensure that nothing contained/contaminated by said allergen. What really knocked this experience out of the ball park was the service we experienced. I would not hesitate to return again and cannot wait to do so!
I love afternoon tea at Astor Lounge. The selection of teas is outstanding. The food menu is scrumptious especially the pastries! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and have a true passion for tea! This is my new favourite spot for afternoon tea in the Greater Toronto Area.
Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Service was great, food was amazing, and tea selection was big and the teas we chose were good. Love the place, I will 100% go back and recommend to a friend, and the food presentation was really cute.
We were celebrating my Mum’s 75th birthday and the whole experience was perfect from start to finish! Thank you!
Most incredible afternoon Tea. Will most certainly be back!
Service charge included in the bill and the waitress didn’t mention it at all which I know it’s partly my mistake not checking the bill but at least I should get informed about it when charging a 18% tip automatically. I wouldn’t be so mad if the service is good. The waitress forgot about our scone and probably forgot about us entirely since she never come and check our status and didn’t add hot water to our tea until we asked for it. Moreover, the bathroom is quite awful: toilet is dirty, no hand soap and there’s dirty tissues on the floor. I would say some of the McDonald’s washrooms are cleaner than that and this is a “luxurious “ hotel lol Definitely wouldn’t go again. Terrible experience.
The Tea Service at Astor Lounge is fantastic. I loved the tea and especially the presentation of the food. The service is exceptional as well as the lovely room. I highly recommend having tea at the Astor Lounge.
I’ve been to nearly every major hotel in Toronto for afternoon tea and tea at Astor Lounge may well be one of the best. The scones are fresh and warm when they arrive at the table, and the clotted cream and house made jams are delicious. There is a great balance between savoury and sweet items on the menu, and the offerings are both delectable and creative. The selection of Sloane teas are fantastic, as always, and the service is impeccable. Our party had both food restrictions and allergies, and every request was met with a smile and precision. A must try for any afternoon tea enthusiast!
Classiest Tea in Toronto! This is the most elegant Afternoon Tea served in Toronto.
It's not cheap but worth the price. The staff was very knowledgable and informative.
My daughter and I had a wonderful afternoon tea at St. Regis. The Astor location was changed to the Louis lounge due to a minor flood. There was a warm welcome and friendly service as soon as we walked into the hotel. Service was outstanding, informative, friendly and we felt very comfortable. There was no sense of urgency or a feeling that we had to abide by a certain time frame. The attention to details was noticed in terms of the method in how our tea was selected, the tea timer, and explaining the afternoon tea menu. I suggested to my friends that we must go and so we'll see you soon. Many thanks for a special afternoon spent with my daughter.
Great overall experience - the tea, proseco, and food were all excellent. Service was also very friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back!
Spent the afternoon at Astor lounge experiencing their afternoon tea service. Food was wonderfully executed and well thought out, quality was excellent and one of the best in the city. Could only finish half and had to take the other half to go- 5 savory items, 4 sweet items and scones, served with jam, marmalade and clotted cream which were amazing. Just a few minor details missing, like having milk/ cream available for your pot of tea - We had to keep asking for cream for the table. Spoons weren't served with the strawberry triffle dessert so we opted for using our tea spoons instead of having to call our attendant over again. Likely because tea service is so new they are some small details missing but will definitely revisit - it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience!
A nice and elegant experience. Traditional tea fair with a modern twist.
First time trying high tea at St Regis!! It was a lovely experience. There were 12 different options for tea and they all smell amazing. 4 canapés and 6 sweet bites in total (if I remember correctly), which were absolutely delicious. Would definitely come back again in the future
We had the honour of experiencing high tea at the St. Regis Toronto this weekend. It was a feast for the senses. The staff were absolutely knowledgeable and friendly. Congratulations to team that developed and rolled out this fantastic offering!
