A favorite restaurant! Great food and service.
Honestly, the food was presented well, looked amazing, but when it’s overly salty and your tongue goes numb and can’t eat anymore then it no longer becomes a pleasant experience.
Excellent qualty food (as usual), casual atmosphere, friendly and professional service!
We are looking forward to the new and larger restaurant (fmr PeiWei ..). Astor can certainly use that considering the many returning customers!!!
See you soon at the new place!!
Visited for the first time last weekend.
- The waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu
- The prices in the menu were scratched off and replaced with higher prices
- The waitress was not attentive and kept forgetting to bring requested items
- We found hair in the food. They remade it, but the owner still charged us full price
- The food is ok, but definitely not worth the $60 price tag for two people during lunch (2 teas, tostones, curry goat, and 4 empanadas). $9 for four pieces of plantain is robbery.
- They charged $3 for 2 small Chimichurri sauces (typically complimentary elsewhere)
I really wanted to love this restaurant, but that first impression was disappointing.
Extremely short staffed and food was cold
This place just gets better and better, awesome dinner, great wines great service, we love it here
Chef/owner created a wonderful menu. Great food, excellent service.
Great service, excellent Margaritas, flavorful appetizers and spicy cuisine made it for an enjoyable evening. The empanadas were well made, the Baboutie was made to perfection Shoutout to Juan from Monterrey for making the best Margaritas!
Staff could ruin this place. Not attentive, not professional. My mom ordered a sangria twice and the second one they brought her was in the same glass and they did not add more or nor fruit like the first one. The employees do not seem to take the Covid protocols seriously, I did not feel safe talking to them or ordering food, the wore their masks below their nose (every single one of them). The food was great but because of the employees I would not eat there again and would not recommend this place.
Casey and his staff are always great! Love the food and the environment!
This was my third visit but first brunch at Astor. I will definitely be back. Food was hot and delicious, but somehow the order was "lost" in the ordering system so our food took a while to come out. The server let us know and apologized, then comped part of our bill.
Casey the owner has always come out to visit when I eat there, but because it was so crowded for brunch, he finally came out when it slowed down. I enjoy supporting this Black owned restaurant.
Casey and his staff knocked it out of the park once again. Everything we have ever ordered has been wonderful. The dishes are seasoned well and are very flavorful as well as visually appealing. I wish my waistline would allow me to eat out more often. They are very COVID conscious so we were comfortable dining in with them.
Coolest thing that KETO options are marked on menu with macros. Chef was very personable and said he was coming out with more keto and paleo options. Food was amazing! Can't wait to go back!
Love this restaurant! Definitely will be the "go to" for brunch. Can't wait to try dinner soon!
Astor is always great! Never disappoints and the food is amazing! The owner, Casey always makes a point to say hi.
The food and customer service was awesome. I will be back.
The owner/chef was so great he came to our table to talk to us and even opened the door for us as we left. You could feel how much he cared about his restaurant, and the people that came in.
They were training a new waiter so we had a few misunderstandings but nothing that couldn't be solved.
Casey was great and greeted his guests. The food is AMAZING and the staff are AMAZING!! They were helpful and friendly.
Excellent food. The service was a bit slow but assuming it was due to lack of available staff.
Absolutely fantastic food and a wonderful, personable chef/owner! The waffles were absolutely amazing.
Very good restaurant. Small, and somewhat hidden, but worth finding. Serves both South African and South American specialties
Ran out of food for multiple choices. Service was spotly at times. Some food partially cooked.
Try this jewel! Fantastic food , this is a place where they really work (hard) for their customers!!
Overall, everything was excellent. Chef Cory obviously puts his heart into it and it shows. He's going to need a bigger place soon. I'm glad I made a reservation because the every table and most of the bar was full. We will dine here again, there is so much on the menu that I want to try.
Good food, but small restaurant with tables close together and hence no real privacy. Generally service was good, but water spilt on me when food being served up. Unfortunate accident, but this shows table too small for wine glass, water glass, side plate and main course.
As always, the food was great! Although it was a crazy holiday, the chef did not compromise on the exceptional quality! He even had time for table visits. Bravo!
We loved every component of every dish we ordered. The server was very friendly and attentive, and the chef/owner came out a couple times to check on everyone as well. Before the desserts came out we were already texting family inviting them to come back with us.
Best breakfast, lunch and dining experience in Katy, by far!!!
This is a really wonderful restaurant in a spot that you would never look for fine dining. It was great to meet the chef and watch the interaction with all of the patrons dining for the evening. My wife and I really enjoyed the food and the experience we will be back and bring a couple of friends.
Great service and menu options as always. Highly recommend for any family occasion
Very good food and terrific service from Nicole. Enjoyed the delicious food and especially the great service from our waiter
We were sitting for nearly 30 minutes before our order was taken for breakfast, and when our food came it was cold.
Thank you for your visit; I apologize that you had to wait that long. Sunday's are extremely busy, as you know. However, food should not have been cold. Please ask for me on next visit. Thank you!
This was my fourth time visiting this restaurant after discovering it two months ago. Casey the chef is a skillful cook, with a good understanding of flavors, interesting plating combinations, and generous portions. His staff is attentive and hardworking and will only get better as they grow. The food runs the gambit from South African, Venezuelan, Italian and American. All have been well received and appreciated by ourselves and guests. They have a fully stocked bar and a good wine selection. It is a nice place to take a date or have a pleasant meal in Katy.
Some suggestions I would make to the owners is to bring in a Drinkologist to create some signature drinks to pair with their food. Also, limit the TV to just the bar seating area, as it takes away some of the "charm" of the eating areas.
Absolutely loved the food here! Can’t say enough good things. Everything we tasted was excellent! Can’t wait to go back and try more!
Service & food were outstanding! One of our favorite places to dine!
We ordered the huge grill platter for 4 people. It contained grilled lamb and goat and the quality of the meat was bad, tough and full of solid fat. Old Lamb and old goat. The chicken was good, but that could not make up for the dish. It was a birthday and it was very embarrassing for us to serve our guests this kind of food. We should have chosen something else.
Owner is very good and kind and we did give him pointers where to buy good quality meat. I am writing this review just to ensure that he does and does not carry on serving that kind of meat.
But we are anxious to try the other dishes and will not write it off.
Hello Mr. Seema, Thank you for your feedback; I appreciate everyone of my customers input. However, I must tell you that I pride myself in providing my customers fresh food, hence the meat was not old. I apologize if you feel that it wasn't as tender as you prefer. I will make sure that it's a little more tender in the future. Please continue to visit us,and we look forward to seeing you next time. Thank you,
The food was good but nothing I felt I couldn’t get anywhere else for cheaper. The farm-to-table concept is tempting, but I didn’t feel its presence in our breakfast options. It was a bit overpriced - my son ordered a side of link sausage that came with 2 small links for $2.50. I kept thinking that I could make these breakfast dishes at home myself and have more to eat for much less $. And the kids’ meals were supposed to come with juice, but we were offered lemonade or punch, and they came in boxes - not fresh as “farm-to-table” would suggest.
Food was very good and the service was excellent. The restaurant is small so I’d recommend reservations, especially for Sunday Brunch. The chef is very personable and saw him mingling with guest.
Make a reservation, is small place in strip mall.
Waiters since we went breakfast want try dinner options
Was kind of noisy, but there was large family party w children. Bottomless mimosas on Sunday; but better if you order oj one; since they walked around w pitchers bd waiting for grapefruit
My wife and I dined here and had a wonderful time. The service was outstanding and the food was incredible. The menu is unbelievable. We went for brunch and the food was so good that we will be back next weekend. We loved the menu options and the staff was so polite and accommodating that it made this visit very enjoyable. The owner Casey was extremely professional and personally made sure our food and our visit was perfect. We will be back very soon!
