Took friend here for birthday dinner. Food was amazing as well as the staff. I’m very picky with Italian food since experiencing it in Italy many times, so I was impressed. Kudos to the chef, and management as well for send fruit platter over to our table on the house. Highly recommended.
Every time I come to Boston it's a must stop. Great food and service.
Enjoyed great dinner. We were downstairs no windows but was still cozy. Great service.
Fantastic food from the Amalfi coast area of Italy.
Visited on Saturday night. Busy night in the North End, but the staff at Assaggio was fabulous. Great service from Amber who was knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Food was incredible from the zucchini blossom appetizer to the veal Milanese and the pasta puttanesca just wow! Add in a beautiful Barolo and you have a wonderful night!
Bread bad. Everything else good. Appetizers too expensive
Assaggio is a fantastic restaurant. The managers and staff are all so attentive and the chefs are terrific.
Th dining areas are handsome and we LOVE the food. This is an example of a place where the leadership shows through; the owner (Frank De Pasquale) hires good people who really care about their customers and want them to enjoy their time at Assaggio. We are thrilled to have this wonderful place to dine at
Brought friends visiting from California. They loved it! Presentation of food is fabulous and everything was delicious! Quality and quantity both excellent!
This is by far my most favorite gem in the North End. Best sauce and meatballs anywhere along Hanover St. BEST espresso martinis as well!! I’ve brought many friends here and every time, every meal was fantastic. Love love love this place. TY!!
Great food! We had the filet mignon and risotto of the day and it was all delicious. Our server also helped us pick an excellent wine to pair with our food. A bit on the pricey end, but a wonderful spot for a special occasion or date night.
Ate there for the first time tonight. Went with friends. Everybody loved their meal. Bustling place but wonderful service. Can’t wait to go back!
Assaggio features a tremendous offering of delicious Positano style cuisine, in a contemporary dining room with excellent ambiance and calm lighting. The seafood dishes are simply top notch. This is an excellent spot for dates and meals with friends. In addition there is a lounge set aside on the upper level complete with food service and a dedicated bar. You could comfortably spend your entire night here. This is a contemporary gem in the north end tucked right off Hanover, and in my opinion trumps many of the local contenders in this niche.
Delicious ravioli and risotto! Waiter was excellent, and tiramisu very tasty!
Incredible experience and absolutely amazing food! Definitely worth leaving the main street and venturing a little further into the North End for this one.
Wonderful food flavor and great Italian choices!
The food was great, it didn’t take too long to come out and the taste was excellent. The service was bad, the guy was probably on training or something, he didn’t know about the food or about wines, I’m not expecting him to know all the list but at least the three more populars by the glass. We went downstairs were there wasn’t any a/c so It was warm. As I said the food was good, and if you go and get seat with an experienced server upstairs, I’m sure that could be a great experience.
Great food! Friendly and attentive service. Nice wine selection. Overall great place for an Italian meal in the North End! Enjoy!
The meal was spectacular, and the restaurant looked lovely upstairs. Unfortunately we were seated in a drab corner of the windowless basement, where the walls are bare, the bussing area is open (though it could easily be walled off with a curtain), and a television hovers directly over one of the tables. By all means, do visit this great North End Italian eatery, but insist on sitting upstairs until they give some love to the basement.
Excellent food. Went there Columbus Day weekend and all restaurants were booked up but this restaurant had plenty of seating. Our waiter was wonderful and the food was the best Italian food I’ve ever tasted. My girlfriend got the lasagna and I got meatballs and the taste, richness and creamy flavor were second to none! You can tell it was homemade and it was authentic Italian food. Definitely worth it!
Excellent food and service
Amber our waitrest was very personable and attentive. Had the stuffed veal chop on her recomendation and was delighted.
Great place to dine in the north end
Make reservations, they are busy!
Food was beyond amazing. My boyfriend is from Italy and we just came back from a visit there it was like we were eating in Italy. The food was fresh made to order deliciousness so glad we chose this restaurant!
Amazing dinner and great wine for my girlfriend's birthday. We had the Burrata for an appetizer and then each got our own Primi dish. The pasta was to die for! We then split a veal chop which we barely had room for, but it was very good as well. Our only complaint was that they don't seem to be able to manage reservations very well. We were not seated until 40 minutes after our reservation because they were busy.
We had dinner before going to a concert at TD Garden. The service was horrible, our meals were forgotten and took over 60 minutes to come out. The manager took a drink off our bill to apologize but overall just not a great experience.
Friday night had rookie waiter. Brought meals with salads. Took meals back. After salads brought 3 of 4 meals. Scampi was cold. Eggplant over cooked. Guess he left them under heat lamps. After 15 minutes of waiting my wife got up to seek the fourth meal. Finally came and was comped. They gave us comped desserts. But they were on the bill. So had to get that taken off.
We had a rookie waiter. It’s a Friday night busy. Was clueless. Brought salads and meals together. Took back meals. After salads brought back 3 of 4 meals. Shrimp scampi was cold. Eggplant over cooked. After waiting about 15 minutes my wife had to go up to ask for the fourth meal. Carlo finally brought it. He comped that meal. Waiter then Brought desserts said they were comped. When bill came the desserts were on the bill. When meals were sent back was surprised that there was no one to supervise this young man
Waiters hands were extremely slippery. Counted 5 dropped glasses or plates during our 45 min dinner. Other than that, it was great!
Great main course, pizza appetizer not so much. Very crowded and loud. Tucked in so tight that the person next to us knock his glass off his table and it exploded all over us. Lasagna was amazing. I would go back just for that.
It was ok.. ordered zucchini appetizer and the menu doesn't state that their deep-fried. Wasted money on that. Asked for dressing on the side; came with dressing ON the salad- too much/ and very salty!
Rao's makes better spaghetti sauce!!
Would not go at dinner time again- People feel the need to be heard /incessantly verbose.. in regards to atmosphere. $115 for dinner for 2 people!/ with NO DRINKS & NO DESSERT! Overpriced for ok food.
The dinner should have been out of this world!!- outstanding! especially with all of the 'fluff' they promote of everything coming from Italy~ Our waiter was exceptional as he was new, Antonio.
The best part of dinner here was discovering a new espresso that Assiaggo serves. Will not ever go there again with so many other places to choose from in the North End.
Not typically a big fan of North End restaurants but this one is a keeper. Very pleasantly surprised with how well prepared everything was, nothing was over done, over sauced, etc. Highly recommend!
it was a loud, noisy Saturday eve crowd. The bar area is right next to if not part of the small dining room.
The ossobuco was fair. Just sort of an 'ah' meal. Nothing special.
My dates meal of the steak was tasty but she felt it wasn't anything special. We have gone to many
high end steakhouses and this meal didn't come close to measuring up.
The chacutterie board as an appetizer, however, was very, very good and very, very big.
We agree if we ever went back that and the bread would suffice.
We went to celebrate a birthday. Had never been to Boston and wanted to spend time in Little Italy. We were SO impressed! All the food was amazing- especially the gnocchi, carbonara, and all the apps! Would highly recommend!
Highly intelligent service. Good food presentation. Tasty veal and eggplant parm. Cannot wait to go back.
My husband and I were in Boston for the weekend celebrating our anniversary. AMAZING meals and excellent service. Don't miss out. You have to check it out. Worth it!
Went for my cousin's birthday dinner. Appetizers were delicious; cooked and seasoned perfectly! Everyone loved their main course. This restaurant is known for homemade pasta. I did not take the recommendation of the waitress on a pasta dish vs. risotto. I should have listened to her. Service was excellent. Basement seating not so great. I would go back.
This place used to be my favorite spot in the North End, with a traditional old-world charm that included ornate paintings on the ceiling and exposed brick walls. The new owner is going for a modern look that is all white with tile. I booked a reservation well in advance, but was still ushered down to the basement rather than being seated in the main floor near the window (could be because I had a 2 year old in tow). The service was not great, but the food was amazing. Had a brief scare as a car outside produced so much smoke as it sat outside the door waiting in the line at the stop sign, that the smell of fuel and exhaust poured into the restaurant and down the stairs where we were seated. We were immediately showered in exhaust smell and I grabbed my daughter and exited the place, only to be told by the manager (over-dressed, bearded guy with no emotion and all 'tude) that it was just a car that regularly cruises the loop in this area. We went back down after the smoke cleared and finished our meal. No apologies whatsoever for the health threat that regularly occurs but that the restaurant has no solution for. Probably won't be back for a long time. But, the food was really, really good, so if you can get a spot upstairs you might have a great experience.
Food was outstanding, service was great!
Went for dinner on a Sunday night and we had a great night, we will definitely go back back again
There is a street level, and below street level, dining rooms. From what I could see down the dark stairwell, the downstairs looks gloomy. I ate on the first floor. The room is small, the bar (along with its TV's) is inside the dining area. There is just one bathroom for all customers & employees and it is in clear view of the dining area. So, if you are seated facing the direction of the bathroom (as I was) you have the unpleasant experience of viewing the toilet each time someone enters/exits - which is often, since it's the only bathroom. It was a HUGE turn off. There should be some sort of drape to obscure the view to the diners. The restaurant itself is rather bland. It's a shame, because the food is actually good. If you go, I recommend requesting a table by the window.
Service was beyond amazing, the staff is very attentive. What impressed me more was the level of attention the manager and server gave us. Very intimate. The food was spectacular. Thank you for making my boyfriends birthday a very special night.
Food was good, service exceptional. Our waitress Amber was delightful, professional and fun! We would definitely return and highly recommend this restaurant.
