Asia Nine Bar and Lounge
Very nice restaurant. However it was typically dirty Asian restaurant. Bathrooms, floor of restaurant tables dishes were really really stinky. Food wasn’t special but wasn’t bad too. Not thinking to go back.
Great service. California rolls are always top of the line and the beef noodle soup is amazing.
We had a great time! The waiters were awesome and the food was divine.
I have such mixed feelings about Asia Nine. If someone asked me about the food ONLY, I'd give rave reviews -- all 5s. From the pork ghoza to the calamari to the shrimp poppers as appetizers, then on to the Green Curry entrée with bell peppers, eggplants packed with shrimp and other seafood morsels, the grilled salmon salad, and the Korean Sizzling Beef with the marinated beef quick-fried in this tangy Korean sauce? Absolutely amazing. But the rest of it left ALOT to be desired. We had a party of 6 that were celebrating the birthday of 2 in our party, and we had a 7:30 reservation. Never really got started until about 8:15-ish, and wanted to have a chilled, leisurely meal enjoying each other, talking, laughing, drinking, eating, etc. Mind you, the restaurant has posted hours as closing at 11:00 p.m. At 10:30 p.m., some of the staff started cleaning up, putting chairs on top of tables and started slamming and banging around dishes and pans and throwing surly looks our way. One guy even came to the table next to us, pointedly looked our way, and then let out a HUGE sigh, mumbled something under his breath, and stalked away. In their haste to get our party wrapped up and out the door, they spoiled what would otherwise have been a remarkably cool dinner party, and that treatment was not at all appreciated by any of us in our party. Some restaurants seem not to understand that when you post a closing hour as one thing, that doesn't mean that your staff should be trying at all costs to be leaving the same time as their posted closing time. If someone walks into the restaurant at 5 minutes to 11, it is the restaurant's responsibility to still serve that customer and give them a good dining experience. Asia Nine's serving staff could do with some re-training on this and other points.
I am almost afraid to review this restaurant, since it is my go-to place in the Penn Quarter before the theater. Rarely crowded, food reliably good, lovely staff—great place!
Fun casual date night before Caps hockey game. Yummy food and great drinks.
Asia Nine is consistently good. The sushi is fresh. The atmosphere is upscale. Great for lunch.
Asia Nine has been a favorite restaurant for years. Great food, staff, ambiance and value!
We were a group of nine and we loved everything about our experience!
Best beef pho in DC. Great service.
Solid offerings of Asian food, especially sushi and Thai dishes. Decor and ambiance leave something to be desired. At its price point and location, if you’re just looking for a casual meal, it’s recommended.
Food and service was very good. Good selection of menu items.
Service was slow, food was served cold.
My friend and I ordered from the sushi menu and from the entrees. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. The service was impeccable.
Food was average. Drinks fine. Service excellent. Just nothing special.
The food was delicious and the service was wonderful.
Excellent menu, many selections, all delicious, excellent service and consistently reliable
We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly our food came out given the size of our group. Most of the dessert options weren’t available but everyone seemed pleased with their meals and drinks.
I booked a reservation for a business lunch. Service was pretty quick. The menu provided plenty of options. I was looking for low-carb food and I saw a few options. The salad selection is pretty decent.
Some of the tables are small, so it is tough to get comfy, but that's fine for a quick lunch meeting.
We both ordered a curry, and both thought it was very good, excellent spice level. Our server was kind of spacey, totally forgot we ordered an appetizer. They seemed to have a very lively happy hour crowd, but they were in the bar area, so the noise didn't bother us very much.
Excellent, just excellent. Perfect service. Great wine, and the best beef pho in DC.
While I love Asia Nine, have been coming here for years & have made it my “go-to” of choice for special occasions, I still find it very expensive & the cocktails are not good — too much mixers, too sweet & I cannot taste the alcohol. Erika Mack-Dillaber
We took a large group of people out to lunch to this restaurant. The wait staff could not have been more accommodating, the food was excellent, the value was fair, and the overall experience was very good. I would definitely return again.
Terrific. Probably the best beef pho in town. California rolls are always great. Good wine and excellent service.
We haven't been to Asia Nine in a long time, but I'm very glad we returned to it after a film at E Street. Asia Nine used to be our post-E Street, go-to restaurant, because there aren't many reasonably priced restaurants within a short walk that have good food. But, because we went there so often, we started trying out other places farther away. We returned because we were with a vegetarian friend, and Asia Nine has a lot of veggie options. The Three Flavor Tilapia that I had was wonderful, and the other two people in my party loved their dishes also.
Food lacked flavor, but service was great.
I received excellent service at Asia Nine the two times that I visited this restaurant. They accomodated my request for my group of 12 on Nov 1st. The food was amazing and I can't wait to go back.
We sat in the bar area and had the best waitress. Love coming here for lunch
Being vegan with a vegetarian girlfriend makes every restaurant experience difficult. Asia Nine has an extensive menu with good options and excellent food. The service was very good and the server was willing to accommodate our needs. Asia Nine is on my go to list.
A fun, excellent pre- theatre dinner. Fine service and really good service . Our first visit Webwillbgo back !
The waitress was phenomenal. I'm angry at myself for not getting her name.
Restaurant was closed at our reservation time
It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Asia Nine. Service is always friendly. The variety of ASIAN food choices makes this a great place for friends getting together. I enjoy the food, though this last go around, most of the dishes were just a bit too salty.
The food and service were great as usual, and little wait time for food.
We received a bloodied chicken dish which was disheartening. The rest of the food was great. They were good about not charging us and not pressing the issue. The other issue was that I mentioned that one of the girls in my party had a nut allergy, but the waitress failed to direct us on what to avoid ordering. She received a Thai green papaya salad with peanut.
You must go and eat with some friends, the place is nice and the food is awesome. Love the Happy Hours.
Hair found in food
The service was outstanding .. even timing our entrees until our appetizers were eaten! That doesn't always happen. There seem to be better times of the day to go -- lunchtime is almost always very busy so going early (11/11:30) or late (after 1) are better times. Was esp. pleased that the good jazz was playing v. the somtimes pretty awful hardrock! Better music for lunch and even dinner for conversations helps.
My experience was terrible, the service was even more terrible, and the food wasn’t even worth it.
The food (especially the curry) left a lot to be desired.
