It’s a good spot. Was expecting better food for what we pay. Will definitively return for a second time.
Nicholas was a server and was very helpful, attentive, and pleasant! Great experience overall!
Had a great experience at Asheville Proper. Were in town for the weekend and decided to make reservations. The restaurant is small, but had a really cool vibe. We started with buttermilk fried oysters which were amazing. We considered cancelling the rest of our meal and just getting more of the oysters! Glad we didn't, though. My wife got a mushroom salad which she raved about. I had the ribeye which was cooked perfectly. We also had a side of mushrooms which were amazing. The only negative was that we each ordered a Parker House roll. The rolls were good, but on the cold side. We also had dessert of Coconut Pavlova and Handmade Smores. Both were fantastic. The cocktails were great. Sweet tea could have been a bit sweeter. Overall, the experience was amazing. May have to go back to Asheville just to go to Asheville Proper again!
Perfection start to finish ! Cool ambiance, great food and bar service
This was one of the best meals I have ever had! The steak was outstanding. Our server, Alison, was super nice and explained the various steak cuts to us expertly.
Exceptional dinner and the bartenders were great with good conversation
Delicious food, great atmosphere and excellent service! You must have the smoked Old Fashion....exquisite!
The food was something special. For my budget it is not everyday or every week or every month that I could afford that but it was an amazing experience. The food was cooked on open fire and the restaurant really sets itself apart from the rest of the Asheville scene. We tried to go to unique businesses that aren’t mega corporations and this place fit the bill. If you are ever I. Asheville and want a unique dining experience try it out.
Emma was our server and took very good care of us. The food was also excellent and as expected.
The BEST meal we had in Asheville hands down! Loved it and recommended it to friends! Can’t wait to come back...celebrated my bf’s 50th birthday it was perfect!
Absolutely amazing. Service was outstanding!
The atmosphere was of an old speakeasy. The staff and food were phenomenal!!!
Everything was fabulous. Our server was excellent and every bite we ate was outstanding. We are planning our next dinner there already. What a wonderful dinning experience!
Everything was awesome. Food was out of this world! Can’t wait to go back.
Loved it, tried foods I never had before. Our server Steve was awesome in helping us chose and in the friendly personable service that he gave us. Loved it!
fantastic food, great service and a lovely space. too many delicious dishes to try everything, already planning a second visit!
This is a must if you visit Asheville!
Every single item was delicious, including the cocktails.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It's my new staple loved EVERYTHING!!! Can't wait to go back!
Good service and good food. What else really matters.
The service was outstanding. The food was prepared in a woodfired oven and was entirely too smoky almost to the point of being inedible.
We share the cowboy steak, the asparagus, and the mushrooms
All recommended by our excellent server
And it was a delightful dining experience
Excellent service, attention to detail.
Food was delicious. Worth every penny.
Appetizers and salads goo. Service great. Steaks were all mis-cooked and bland. I do a better steak on my backyard grill. Back to Curate’.
Lovely space. Quaint. Excellent service and food was very good.
Awesome food and service. We had the tomahawk ribeye special and it was spectacular. Service was awesome!
Our new favorite place in Asheville!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on Saturday night. The food, service and atmosphere were fantastic! We will be back. The ribeye and beets were ridiculously good!
The steaks were excellent! My only complaint would be the salads we ordered. They were just "ok" it seem like the salad was mixed prior to serving so the dressing made the salad soggy. Other sides were perfect!
We came here on a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. The cocktails were great (I particularly liked the tequila cocktail with mezcal). We got the wagyu starter which was good. Unfortunately, another townie recommended we try somewhere else for dinner but we SO WISH we stayed at Asheville Proper instead. This place was awesome. I was expecting a stuffy steak restaurant and it was lively, flavorful, and had a great menu.
On the pricey side, but food and service were exceptional
I wasn’t sure it was possible to top the unbelievable food and cocktails at Proper, but the service did! I can’t remember the last time service and food was more than I expected! Bravo Proper! 👏🏻
It was fantastic. One of the best meals we have ever eaten. The service was exceptional. The atmosphere and food good amazing as well. We will definitely return
Not good; food was not good; We have been here few times before and it was delicious; not this time, the octopus was so salty that it was hard to eat, mushrooms didn’t taste like anything, fish was bad. Everything was not the same. Sad because the place is really cute and the food WAS good. I don’t think we will go back 😏
Good food, good service. Very nice waiter.
Let me start by saying this past weekend has been a special one for my wife and me. We are currently pregnant with our second child (due in May) and this weekend was a getaway of sorts for the two of us before we introduce more chaos to our home.
My wife tasked me with finding a nice restaurant for our “date” night...really the only task I had for the weekend if we’re being honest. Asheville Proper made me look so good! Emma took care of our table and Emma’s recommendations and attention to detail were unparalleled. Everything we ordered was exquisite. The Wagyu steak was cooked to perfection! My compliments to the chef.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and compliment the team that made the night so special for us.
Charcuterie was 🙌🏽 Service was great, loved the char on the steak, and Ash Butter was the perfect accent to my steak. Also, cocktails were great as well!
Great food with an awesome ambiance that is really nice but not too overdone.
Nicholas our waiter was fantastic! He took time to explain the different cuts of meat. We were seated at a table near the door. Happened to be a cold night and when people would come in you felt a cold draft. This seems to happen when I book tables online. Restaurant was busy and noisy with conversations. We ordered the mushroom ricotta gnocchi as a starter which was delicious! It should be on the menu as an entree dish. We both ordered 8 oz steaks. My husbands looked small for a strip steak and mine came undercooked which Nicholas took back to cook a bit more. The potato side dish was good as was the mushroom ragout side. Did not have room for dessert which looked good passing us by. Main complaint was found the dining room a bit under decorated and noise level high.
A really great restaurant - I picked it out from an Internet list. The food was terrific and the wood fired grill had a fantastic aroma.
Superior quality food, beautifully plated and professionally served.
Fried oysters, charred octopus, rib eye, NY strip all great, warm beets, mushroom ragout. Cheesecake very good and intelligently portioned. Server Alex very friendly and well trained. She added to the experience.
Only 44 person capacity, so make reservations early for weekends.
