Great dining experience
We were here for a birthday dinner and the woman celebrating her birthday literally had two rocks hidden in her food. These were about half the size of a typical piece of gravel. A man I assume was the manager came over and apologized and said the chef had no idea how that happened and “maybe they were in with the mushrooms.” They did remake her food and comped her dish. However, it really ruined the whole evening for her (although she was very kind about it). It also put the dinner behind by about half an hour while we waited with cold food for her new dish to be ready. There were no other apologies or overtures and they actually even charged us for the dessert she ordered for her birthday. We spent a little over 100 dollars a person and she had literal rocks in her food. I have been here in the past but I will not go here again nor can I recommend it to anyone else.
Always a great experience. Wonderful food, service and ambiance
This is a first class restaurant and we have often gone here for special occasions. We recommend it highly and will continue to patronize it.
Consistently excellent! The soups and the salads are always interesting and delicious.
Taking a dear friend who is moving out for a farewell lunch - it was special — and perfect!
Always a great meal and service. Food and choice are excellent. Service eas great.
What used to be one of my favorite restaurants isn't anymore. Inaccurate descriptions, tiny portions, BIG prices and poor service. After coming here for many years, we have decided we will not be back.
Lovely setting to dress up and go out for date night.
This place was great.
Beautiful decor, great food, attentive waiter (Luigi).
Very surprised by the bartender...fantastic old fashioned (and I 'm a drink snob)...really good.
Exceptional! Loved the food and atmosphere! They had a wonderful special and the chef is so talented! The service is awesome!
My parents 47th Anniversary. It was awesome!!!
We love to meet friends at Artisan in either the bar dining area or outside when the weather is nice. Seafood chowder is ridiculous. Quinn
A true treat! Although the restaurant was almost full the vibe was relaxed and the noise level was subdued. The service was professional and the pacing was perfect. Every course was unique and extremely flavorful. I had the Octopus appetizer and it had a lovely light char and was complemented nicely by veggies that included delicate pickled carrots. My husband and I both had the duck which was crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. We will be back for our next special date night.
Foods are not same... must be different chef. Wish they kept the old menu and chef....
Artisan never disappoints. Early dinner with a friend was lovely. The server was attentive and when he realized we wanted to chat over wine before ordering he gave us time without rushing us. The first course choices are all delicious: my favorite is the chicken liver mousse with pickled cherries- genius- and the special gnocchi was indeed special. The adjacent bar was lively and added to the sociability of the evening. Consistently a favorite and definitely merits returning.
Artisan is a nice "fancy" place in Southport, an area where most of the restaurants are super casual. As a white tablecloth dining establishment with superior service and price to match, it makes the grade. The food is somewhat disappointing. Not that it's bad, it's definitely above average, but it doesn't rise to the level of the rest of the place. Service is outstanding and in line with that of top notch restaurants. I loved the cocktail I had, blood orange margarita. It was followed by a nice raw tuna appetizer that was delicious but lacked an accompanying cracker of some type. My main course of lobster fettucine was deliciously flavorful overall, but the lobster was tough. My dinner companion had the donuts that I thought were cakey, but he enjoyed. All in all, Artisan has an elegant atmosphere, relatively quiet ambiance, excellent service and overall pretty good food that is nicely presented.
Delicious food & attentive staff!
Highly recommend for all occasions!
Always a wonderful place to have brunch- phenomenal food, drinks and service. We love meeting friends in the tavern for brunch.
Many of the entrees at brunch came out Luke warm.
Have dined here over 30 times. Best meal in a long line of top performances. Perfect service. Keeps getting better.
Food was cold , waiter came across like he didn’t want us there . So we won’t bother him anymore...
Ran out of my first choice of entree at 7pm. I got last serving of my second choice. Could this be because many elderly people go there for dinner from the Del Mar? There certainly were many left when we got there! Service ok but took two times to get bread and it took a while because it was “in the oven”. Isn’t that something that should be done ahead of time as part of prep?
Amazing duck breast dinner. Our first visit there and we can’t wait to go again!
The food and service were spectacular. Generous portions. Would recommend to anyone!
We loved everything! The food was excellent, fresh, and featured local ingredients. The service was very good, and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. 10/10 we will come back!
This was a Valentine Day lunch and everything was terrific. The staff was friendly and fun. And the long stem rose for my wife was an added bonus.
An early celebration of Valentines day. Very pretty dining room and service was fine, BUT the menu is limited, uninspired and the food is not delicious. The wine by the glass is very nice and dessert was tasty.
So NOT worth the cost.
We've been to Artisan a number of times, and the food never disappoints. On this visit, my husband and I both order specials -- fluke and pork. Both were delicious. My issue with Artisan has always been the service. The bus service is typically outstanding, but the table service always leaves me disappointed. The server was neither knowledgable nor attentive. We expect more from a fine dining establishment such as Artisan.
Great food and service
Went for lunch to test and was very happy with this restaurant
Wonderful ambiance in this cozy and elegant restaurant in the Delamar, and good food too. The salmon comes on a bed of wilted spinach and is delicious. Attentive staff and good wine list. A winner!
We haven't been for a while and glad we went back. Our meals were excellent. Server was very accommodating and assisted in making an excellent choice of wine to go with all meals.
One of our favorite restaurants really disappointed with the unbelievably poor service. Waiter forgot about us the entire night and had an attitude. We were shocked
If dining inside, it's a dated, formal room. The food was very disappointing. The blue point oysters were so fishy, we sent them back after eating one. The waiter had no idea why they tasted that way, not did he offer a substitute. Moreover, my companion's plate of them sat on our table while we were served the next course! We had to ask for them to be removed. The gnocchi was acceptable, but the mushrooms were very chewy and unattractively garnished. The salmon was the best of the dishes ordered. It was properly cooked and served with potatoes which were very good. But I'll never go back. Not worth the money in terms of either the decor or the food.
Always love this place. Ambience is lovely and the food is great!
If you review the times we dined, I believe you will find we were at the Artisian on the 27th or 28th, the 4th and yesterday...
Had made a reservation and requested table 10 as we like the table location..When we arrived, the Hostess said the table was reserved for five....I had dined at the table when we were two , three and four..
Half way through our meal, we noticed the same Hostess seating four people....I had reserved the table and denied the table , telling us we were four when table was reserved for five and then to see four people being seated makes me wonder if your Hostess knows she is in HOSPITALITY business... been a customer for years and this Hostess spoiled the day....terrible
Food was great. We had a large group next to us that made our experience more noisy that in the past. We'll be back.
Lunch and weekend brunch are always great! The food is always good and the ambiance is very nice. The $21 includes an appetizer , entree and beverage. For $5 more u can add a dessert or glass of wine. They just raised the price nominally but regardless it’s well worth the cost. It’s a great place to get together with friends, do business or celebrate a special occasion. The acoustics ( unlike most restaurants) are good which makes it suitable for conversation. The service is always attentive and the chef easily allows for special requests. I go here frequently. I really love this restaurant ( for dinner too!)
