About
Seated right away at the specific time of my reservation. Service was top notch. Food was prepared properly and arrived within a reasonable amount of wait time. Couldn't ask for anything better.
The food and service was outstanding. By far the best steak I've eaten.
Loved everything about APL. Food and service is outstanding. Can’t wait to go back!
Steak was excellent. The green goddess salad was also noteworthy. It was my husband's favorite part of the meal. Everything else felt mediocre. The 90s music blaring in house was not in line with the vibe of the restaurant. It honestly made us feel it cheapened the experience. There should be more variety in the appetizers and sides. The service was fine but it took 20 minutes for my husband to get a cup of coffee and everything was drawn out a little too long. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and did get a dessert as well as champagne since we were newlyweds. But I don't think we will be rushing back anytime soon.
Service slow
Food unremarkable
Menu limited
The steak was ridiculously over priced. The “bone in Ribeye” was $62 and was tiny. While the flavor was good it looked like something you’d order at a cheap steakhouse. It was probably 8oz with the Bone at best. Perhaps we went too late ( 8:45pm) but the place was empty. Our waiter was very friendly however to place was way overpriced for what you got. Priced like a premium steakhouse but serving Western Sizzlen looking Ribeye for $62.
Love steak and the fillet and 100 day aged ribeye were delicious. Service was awesome our server was charming and witty. We enjoyed her so much. The sides were so so. Wine list was sad.
But the big detractor was the yelling that could be heard coming from the kitchen. Very unprofessional. If you go to this restaurant, ask for seating far away from the kitchen.
The best restaurant in the greater Hollywood area! The pre-theater prefix meal is excellent!
Food was solid, but it looks like they ran out of money when they designed the inside. Gimmick 950$ knife was odd. The bill was equivalent to other white tablecloth steakhouses that you should just go to instead.
I rarely rate restaurants, but got this pop-up from OpenTable so why not. This place is "just ok". Obviously price isn't everything and I expected to pay a premium here, but the food was just so-so, and the service, was something similar to what you would expect at Denny's. Yes, we ordered the tomahawk medium rare but the meat was lukewarm at best. We ordered the ribeye medium and it came out well done like you would expect at the aforementioned Denny's or a Sizzler's. The service? I don't even recall her name. She always seemed in a rush to leave and didn't really even look after our table. Look, I get it that maybe waiting tables isn't your dream job, but if I'm tipping you on a relatively high dollar total, it would be nice if the service didn't make us feel like we were walking on eggshells when we wanted to ask a few questions about the menu. I'm probably not explaining our interactions succinctly, but while she had a smile on her face, her demeanor was icy cold. And sure, I know that we aren't at some gimmicky chain restaurant with singing, but why bother to confirm that we are celebrating a birthday if you don't even wish him 'happy birthday'. So, to sum it up, APL, if your goal was mediocrity; congratulations! You did it!
Across the street from the Pantages... GREAT FOOD! YUM! Wonderful beef dishes and sides... We tried the pre-Pantages meal - Little gem salad, steak tartare, mashed potato, brocolli, Branzino, ribe eye and deserts...
Steaks came out cold. Ate here when it first opened and it was great but they have fallen off completely. Will not be returning
Loved the food and service would recommend to friends
Everything we hope for in a great dining experience. Bri , our server, was the best. Food was great. Our new go to place for great dining.
Wanted to love it, but didn't. The appetizers were great, especially the beef tartare. I ordered the 100+ day tomahawk for one which turned out to be the worst piece of steak I've ever had. I was so tough, I couldn't cut it with a knife or even stick a fork into it. While the fillet they replaced it to was good, it was nothing special. Very disappointing for a place that's supposed to be all about the meat.
Just a wonderful evening at a wonderful restaurant. Everything was cooked perfectly, the drinks were amazing, we cannot wait to return! Thanks again!
Excellent. Thank you!
Food was excellent if a little overpriced. The fixed pre-show menu was only available if everyone at the table was committing to it, which seems silly. Clearly designed to prevent sharing but everyone at our table was ordering entrees. Would be nice if they at least gave you a basket of bread given the prices but we had to ask for that and were advised that they charge for it. We didn't complain but they comped it anyway, which was nice. Quality of food made up for these smaller issues
Everything was delicious especially the spaghetti and wedge salad with that wonderful bacon.
Great steaks, but service was disorganized and lackadaisical
Waiters were excellent the food was great, what more can one ask for. My car was valet parked, the price was reasonable and when the show was over, the car was ready for me.
Steak, burger, duck fat fries, custard for dessert, Jimlet cocktail, Brianna our server- all phenomenal.
It was "okay". Wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend. The Tomahawk was mediocre. The salads were very good. For the high prices and all the hype we were expecting better.
It was great, I bit more on the portions would be great. Apps was kinda slim but the steak was fire! Crabcake was something out of a fairytale. I’ll be back again.
Service was great. Steaks were not hot and fries soggy.
Will definitely return.
Delicious! A bit pricey, though. Very convenient to Pantages Theater.
After reading some of the other reviews, I am compelled to post my own regarding our recent first visit to APL. Our server was Brianna....she was fantastic. Attentive, patient and professional. Restaurant has a nice vibe and ambiance. While food was a bit on the pricey side, everything we had was of excellent quality and well prepared. The Dry Aged Ribeye was perfect. The Spaghetti with Bianco Napoli Tomatoes was tasty. The Prosciutto and Burrata and Gjusta Bread to start were very enjoyable. We will return to try some of the other menu items.
Beautiful space.
I was a little apprehensive at first as this restaurant is in the heart of Hollywood, which can be very touristy.
We loved the decor and I had a pork chop that I will remember for the rest of my life! It was amazing.
I have only one note to give this restaurant and that is that the music selection did not do the rest of the experience justice. In my humble opinion, the space and the lighting called for Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald or any of the jazz greats. Instead, on the particular Saturday we were there, the music was pure pop and just a little too loud.
It did not work.
Having said that, you better believe I am counting the days until I can have that pork chop again!
I was looking forward to trying this restaurant so much! It's beautiful and everyone was nice. Our side of mashed potatoes was cold and my Rib Eye stake was difficult to eat because of the gristle. That was a big deal. However, my daughter loved her chicken, my Nephew loved his spaghetti and we all loved the Broccolinie - I am still thinking about the sauce on that.
For the money, the food was just fine. There are many places in LA I can get a great steak and a good martini at this price point and APL isn't one of them. The food was okay, the service was fine, the drinks were okay... but we left underwhelmed and bummed that we chose APL to spend several hundred dollars on a date night.
Not a bad steakhouse, however it’s marketed as a great steakhouse, which it is not. It’s OK, but overpriced. Meh. You can a lot better for less.
We had a great time, my filet was a little over cooked and because we were going to a Show I did not have time to send it back. It happens, but I would definitely go back and give them a second chance because the service was great. I am sure if I would have complained they would have been happy to fix the issue. Overall my Wife and I had a great time.
Great restaurant! I enjoyed a wonderful steak (the filet), the bacon, and I must say the Maple Hog cocktail with Uncle Nearest whiskey was great.
Nothing special.
Steak over cooked, returned, over cooked again. The service is young and well intended, but poorly managed. Poorly puts it mildly.
Never to return
Very overpriced for the quality of food. The burger was very average at best and for $18 and having to pay for sides as extra, it seemed ridiculous when there are so many amazing, high quality burgers in LA with much better value.
Fantastic across the board
Great food and presentation and solid service. It’s tasty, nice, and fun. However, it’s pricey and everything is a la carte so be prepared...
Our entire party was disappointed the French onion soup was not on the menu. And the short rib sold out in 1.5 hours. Ian was a great server and what we did order was delicious!!!
Wedge salad with bacon and the brussel sprouts will not disappoint and is a full meal!
