The food and service were great; however, the prices for some items are a bit high for how little you get. The squid steak dish was delicious, as well as the coconut shrimp!

I made reservations but they sat us in the very back through the kitchen where everybody was speaking loudly back-and-forth making noise etc. In the back there is no view other than a wall so we were very disappointed with where we sat. The food is very good as usual - however the fish and shrimp dinner ready and was very soggy don't understand why… The last time I ordered it it had a nice dry crunch to it. Could've been sitting on the side? Not sure. Overall, everything else was spectacular

We have dined at Anthonys on many occasions, in fact it is one of our favorite go-to for date night. However, this past experience was rushed from the time we sat down. The server was rushed, there were no silverware on the table, and we got our salad about 10 minutes before the food was served. Anytime we put a fork down, someone cleared our table. It was like they just wanted us to eat fast and leave. Granted there was no wait, and parking available on a Friday at 6:15. If they have changed management, they need to rethink this “rushed” idea. We would prefer a dining experience, as it has been in the past.

A great place to eat. Outstanding food. The best service you could ever want on a busy Sunday afternoon.

We dine at Anthony’s frequently. The food and service are reliably good and the ambience is calming. Another great meal out!

I have dined at Anthony's Fish Grotto's for decades. In fact my Dad went to school with Anthony Ghio at San Diego High School. With the La Mesa location the only location left standing we dined there often up until 9 months ago. We try new restaurants and visit other favorites weekly then last night I went back to AFG and it was the most disappointing service and the food was so inferior that I vow to never go back! It took 12 minutes to get our simply made cocktails! Then our server forgot cocktail sauce we requested for our Calamari, took 5 minutes to finally get it! The red clam chowder was pathetic, Ahi stack was not what it should have been, the tuna pieces were way to big and the color was washed out as older fish gets, my wife was absolutely disgusted with it and ate the garnish and the fill used to make the stack. My 89 year old Mother want a bay shrimp cocktail and was told they have been out for several weeks, really! My chard Octopus was so salty I could barely eat some of it, Oh I asked for a steak knife and that took 5 or so minutes for my server to bring it to me. It does not please me to write this review but it should be known how bad this visit was. Tony P

Wonderful New Years Eve dinner with my wife. We had Sal as our waiter. He very much helped make the evening special. Thank you to all! Happy New Year

Considering that it was New Year's Eve, not too bad. Half hour late for reservation but very good service once seated. Again because of the day, some of the food was slow coming out and all a bit dried out.
