This pop-up on Mondays seemed like fun. We have loved fried chicken in the South -- juicy, tender, crispy skinned, fragrant. Angry Rooster does not do Southern fried chicken. We bit into the hard thick crust and found steamed yellow fatty flabby skin on tough dry chicken. The chicken wings and drumsticks were very large -- clearly from big old tough chickens. We asked for two white piece, two dark. We got 3 white pieces, two of them chewy tough wings which wouldn't come apart at the joints. The heavy coating had crisped up in the fryer before the chicken cooked through, leaving the skin flabby yellow and bloody meat along the bones. Very unpleasant. One had to remove the crust to remove the fatty flabby skin before proceeding with the tough dry chicken, much of which we couldn't eat. There was only a bartender on service, so no point complaining. Dinner was prepaid before service.
