Angler is a seafood-focused Saison Hospitality Group restaurant with one Michelin star on the Embarcadero waterfront, featuring views of our expansive wood burning hearth and the San Francisco Bay, where each dish is touched by fire and intended to be shared.

Our sourcing is deliberate and our menus closely follow the seasons of Northern California.

    I loved Saison so I tried Angler. I was pretty disappointed and I worry this place will not survive San Francisco. The inside of Angler is gorgeous. The staff are great. But it is the food that sadly should have been the star and it was not. We had the trout starter and it was fine. It was the best thing we had. We had the white asparagus with truffle and you could not taste the truffle at all. I know some people sell fake truffles so many Angler did not source the truffle well. But for $40 you better source things correctly. The asparagus came and it was like one long piece of asparagus cut into pieces. Not great. We ordered the lobster and it was dry and flavorless. It came with this sauce that I thought was creative because they used the inner natural fluids of the lobster to make it. But they used lemongrass in the sauce and it left the lobster and sauce tasting astringent. They recommended this bread with each bite as well and the bread was so salty. Perhaps that was intentional because the lobster was so bland. The chocolate bar for dessert was the star. I am not a dessert person so this is saying a lot. I would not go back except maybe to have a cocktail and that dessert after being at another place for dinner. Angler needs to pivot asap or they are going to keep having nights where their tables are not full.

    We’ve been many times and usually found the food to be excellent. This time it was so so and it is extremely expensive.

    Very good eating experience, friendly and helpful waiters/waitresses serving me in a timely manner. The food was well-cooked and served as its prime. All the facilities are user friendly and easy to use with no difficulty. I'm expecting a second visit in the future.

    Fantastic friendly service. Very helpful, friendly and kind. Some of the best I've had in the Bay Area. The food was great. As many have said the hasselback potato is amazing. The chili butter oysters are so good as well, spicy but just enough to warm up your mouth. The wood fired scallop is perfectly cooked. The cocktails I had were quite well balanced (kokoribe (sp) was really fun with the scorched coconut on the big ice cube).

    This was my first Michelin restaurant and my experience here was amazing the decor, service, and food. I highly recommend dining here

    Amazing food, we were here for a birthday and there were so many wonderful things. The special was a crab fried rice that I’d highly recommend. Caviar was worth trying and the scallops were fantastic. We were seated outside which is nice enough, but traffic on the Embarcadero is loud. Main complaint is there was a forty minute gap between appetizers and the main course. This timing is a bit disappointing for a Michelin starred restaurant.

    Is there a new chef? Lunch was a huge disappointment. Lobster buns were dry and too small. Filling was swimming in mayonnaise and very heavily spiced. There was no tail meat, just minced claw meat. I couldn’t believe how bad it was. I’ve taken Angler off my favorite restaurant short list.
