Whilst Italian and Japanese cuisines may seem worlds apart, at their core they share very similar values; food is regional, seasonal and created with minimal meddling and the deepest respect. We are passionate about these similarities and look forward to welcoming you with a smile!
Outstanding ! Food was excellent - something a bit different. Very good service and value for money - will definitely be back !
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing, Amazing, Amazing, Amazing, Amazing,
Food was amazing however, I found the mushrooms over salty and the dessert took a long time to come out. But definitely would come back again.
Very good food and amazing service! Thanks, will surely come back
Amazing dinner! Super high quality and great wine pairing.
My second visit and wasn't disappointed. Food is amazing! Wine list extensive. Really buzzy and amazing staff. We sat at the big communal table in the middle of the restaurant. If you're looking for a a nice treat, this is the place for you. Can't wait to go back again.
Brilliant in all aspects . Just an idea for dessert - matcha tiramisu ? Will come again and bring friends over!
The food was good but we had over a half hour (inexcusable) wait for a small plate of cheese. I think the waiters forgot about us :(
Also we were freezing as they had put on an air extractor
Right by our table and forgot about it . I’ve never been so cold in a restaurant .
Shame as the food was interesting and I would have gone back again
Had a lovely meal here overall. I did however feel a bit rushed. I ordered an extra course after the steak before the dessert just to prolong our evening. I was being handed the next wine before having finished the previous glass. To get 5 courses in under an hour is impressive, but not in a good way. This was an occasion, our anniversary and we were expecting to get to enjoy it for longer than an hour. I did enjoy it, however, just as someone who also works in hospitality I thought u may appreciate the feedback. Staff were lovely, food, superb, atmosphere amazing, just would have liked to enjoy it all for a little longer.
One of the best meals we've had - food was delicious and service excellent. Five stars
Not a good value for the money, the beef was good but not enough, the pasta was mediocre, the starter was nothing special at all. The desert was ok but again not to remember. Great whisky selection on the Japanese side to be honest.
Beautiful restaurant, beautiful food, excellent service.
Outstanding like always. It was the 4th time we had dinner at Angelina and we loved it. All plates were awesome and the service was excellent. We'll be back soon again
service was a real appointment. we felt the staff were watching over us and as soon as the last mouthful was taken (or not for one course!) the plates were taken away. one of us even had our fork with food on it and his plate was taken from underneath. felt far to rushed. just as if they wanted to get another table in. not great
Came here with my partner for our anniversary last week. Absolutely amazing experience. Told them in advance it was our anniversary, and upon arrival we were giving two complimentary glasses of fizz as we took our seats. We both opted for the veggie tasting menu, and it didn’t disappoint. Really fresh food cooked with care and expertise, and subtle flavours that worked perfectly with one another. The staff were really friendly and courteous through the evening, to the point where even they explained each dish as they arrived to our table. Following the meal, we spent some time in the very small bar located in the restaurant (something of a surprise) located in the back of the restaurant. The barman was super friendly, giving us a full lowdown of the drinks available and making us feel very welcome. Overall we had a great time, mixing a great dining experience without the snobbery that you get with some other fine dining restaurants. Would highly recommend to anyone! Definitely will be back.
Splendid vegan tasting menu. Elegant and warm ambiance. Terrific service.
We loved everything about this place, the food was outstanding ( although pudding was not to the same High standard as the food in our opinion) the staff super friendly, relaxed and attentive. Lovely recommendation of wine and great cocktails! Can’t wait to go back!
Absolutely delicious. Would come back in an instant.
The overall experience was great but one or two imperfections that would have made it a 5 not a 4 (4.5 is what I would like to give it)
Because its small you share tables, this is fine but I don't think the corner by the very large table legs are suitable for anyone to sit comfortably.
The food was great but not but not exceptional. I am sure this is a subjective viewpoint but the desert syrup overpowered the rest of the desert however the wine pairing was perfection which meant I could wash the syrup down quicker. I also left a little hungry from the 5 course with wine pairing, the first two courses which come out together are plentiful, the next not so much. HOWEVER, these are small gripes and for the money it was a great visit
Wow! Loved this place. First visit. Sat at the bar over looking the prep and cooking. Great, chilled team that produce beautiful food. Had the tasting menu. Well worth having to try Italian/Japanese fusion. Staff are all gorgeous and welcoming. Josh the owner is fab, knew his wine list and very helpful with suggestions. Will definitely be returning. If you are thinking of going ..Go ! X
Great taster menu: very good ambience and value - and excellent service, decor and wine selection. Recommended.
The fusion of Italian and Japanese cuisines, probably my favourites, sounded really interesting and I was really looking forward to my night out. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and we were greeted and taken to our table swiftly.
The experiment of combining the two cuisines just doesn’t work. The starters were generally ok and the sourdough bread and olive oil was a hit. The spaghetti cacio e pepe arrived disguised as gyozas! Why? The mains of braised pork belly and pickled cucumber is classic, but why add a dollop of salsa verde on the side? The trio of desserts were good.
The staff were attentive throughout our meal and a candle was put on one of the desserts as I had mentioned it was a birthday celebration. Thank you.
Sometimes fusion works but not this time.
Overpriced for what it is.
Food is nothing out of this world and you get a feeling that you didn't even started when the last dish comes. I wouldn't recommend it, it wouldn't make me feel good to send a friend to spend £70 per person to get what you get.
Great food and wine paring; real flavour explosion. Sat at the bar/ kitchen counter directly opposite the chefs which ended up being the a great experience. Very highly recommended.
Amazing food and service.
Great restaurant - food well made and fresh.
Noisy as tables closed in so difficulty making out menu description by server.
Definitely worth going
Brilliant Italian/Asian fusion restaurant with an amazing tasting menu.
Enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff in a well set out space with a choice of tucked away corners or a central bar surrounding the open plan kitchen.
Great value as well - £100 a head for what is effectively 7 -9 courses, plenty of wines (with some really interesting choices) and a bottle of grappa left on the table at the end!
Will definitely be back.
Interesting concept, good food with a twist between Japanese and italian. Menu changes every 2 weeks. I personally would like more japanese coming out but it was overall good. Nice staffs and ambience too
A great restaurant serving a fantastic set meal with Japanese Italian influences. Very good value and a lovely environment. We'll definitely come back.
Best bang for your buck in East London
Excellent food and impeccable service, out waitress was lovely (a girl from Brazil I think). Would highly recommend
Favorite restaurant in the area, food and service are always amazing! i love it!
Nice food - especially the seabass and the trout.
Got a couple of things on our order wrong, and there seemed to be lots of different waiters attending to us which may have caused the confusion. They were very apologetic however once this was raised with them and provided very nice service (complimentary drink and dish) to make up for it.
The service was great , but the food was very disappointing. The only culinary highlight was a gin beetroot cocktail that was delicious. We got some fried veggies to start , a sashimi with truffle (too overpowering) undercooked pasta , the desert was quiet nice , but then again at £80 per head I’d expect much better.
I had high expectations as I've seen alot of gd reviews but it was a disappointment, the restaurant was about a Japanese / Italian collaboration but clearly the food didn't demonstrated any. There are limited choice of food in the menu - which was fine if they know what they are doing. The Fritto Misto was too greasy with a mouthful of oil - they were trying to do a deep fried tempura stuff of various things but that clearly failed, the other courses e,g. miso aubergine was too salty with too much miso which makes u think that the chef doesn't understand miso ; and then on the italian side, the risotto was a mouthful of confusing flavour again with miso / cream / cheese/ chilli oil ?!?! The pasta dish was just very mediocre too. I think the chef needs to bring his team to try some proper japanese / italian food - in order to know what good is like, afterall their dishes aren't THAT difficult really.
Good sharing menu. Good value for money. Drinks are creative, but not too strong, so a few cocktails are an option. Italian wines good on the list. Service is attentive, but relaxed. Doesn’t accept cash.
Very good food and excellent service. The only thing which we didn’t like was the fact that we had to share a table with other people, we were a group of 4 and we had to share a table with other people whereas a group of two got their own table which had 4 spaces. It was quite loud as well so was a bit difficult to hear each other. I think they should mention it to you before you go there.
Delicious and interesting food - would highly recommend
An stylish yet understated Italo-Jap restaurant. The short but interesting tasting menu is a must try in East London
Excellent menu both the 5 courses and the dish of the day in stunning ambience. The service is also very good, great place for a special occasion or a treat
