We drove an hour out from Boise for brunch at the recommendation of some friends thinking it would be a fun little adventure. We were got there we were greeted kindly and shown our table. The brunch is a three course meal, $35 a person. Pretty steep for breakfast, but you are also paying for the experience. The first course is a small 1-2 bite thing, then the second course we both ordered steak and eggs. Unfortunately this is where we were most disappointed :/ The breakfast potatoes were places under the steak making the quite soggy, and everything was cold. It seemed to take awhile for us to get our entrees, and then once they arrived they were definitely cold, so not the most appetizing. Then the third course I had crepes, and my husband the cheesecake. The cheesecake was amazing, but the crepes left something to be desired. To the restaurants credit we had excellent service. The waiter asked us how our food was, and we just said fine, so to be fair we did not give them the chance to fix the fact that it was cold, so that is our bad. But ultimately to drive and hour our spend $80+ to leave feeling “meh” was a bit of a bummer for both my husband and I. We both agreed we would have been more satisfied just going to a regular old diner. Maybe it was an off day? Maybe their dinner is better? They are worth a shot, but I am not sure I will be making the drive again.
Best Destination Dinner, had a great time! Would come back again!
This is worth visiting one time. It's so charming to be out there in the middle of nowhere in a big barn. The ambiance and the service are simply amazing. That being said, we probably won't go there a second time because it's priced at a once in a lifetime price. The steak was great, but not worth those prices.
Outstanding atmosphere, service and food. Exceptional in all respects. Will most certainly be back to this gem of a restaurant and butcher shop.
I highly recommend this restaurant! Such a beautiful building and area! The service was incredible, the food was delicious, and I really enjoyed the whole experience!!
Very good food and service would recommend to a friend
Great food. Good drink selection. Nice environment.
Great food (and the menu changes every week) and beautiful views...worth the drive!
Best service I've ever experienced. Fun ambience and good food.
First let me say that we had been to this restaurant about 4 months ago for dinner and it was exceptional. This time we were expecting to enjoy the brunch but it was not available. When I inquired to the wait staff regarding this I was told because it was Valentines day, only the dinner menu was being served. The employee told me that I needed to check there Facebook page for updates not the website, so no brunch. We ordered from the dinner menu they presented which looked familiar but the food was not as before. First, my meal of lamb was lukewarm, second, my wife's rib-eye steak was covering her side dishes which were a mess. The steak was at least 8-10 ounces of fat which we showed the wait staff who stated that the amount was excessive, but no apology.
This is meant to be a helpful review, because they are easily fixable things but it was sub par. My food was cold, we had to request our appetizer a second time after the people behind us got theirs (they showed up 20 minutes after we did). And when I say cold, I mean the veggies were tangibly cold to the touch and the steak was lukewarm. They did make it right by sending out an additional plate but that kept me there another 30 minutes without eating. It’s a beautiful building and the overall atmosphere is amazing but if you’re going to charge premium price I think we can all agree the food should be hot at a minimum. The saving grace was the girlfriends plate was good and she had a good time so Valentine’s Day was saved haha. A bit of a drive for us (1 1/2hr drive) so doubtful to return but the overall idea, aesthetic and ambiance is awesome as reflected in my votes.
Delightful dining experience with nice, scenic backdrop, ambiance, wonderful wait staff and quality food.
We moved visiting Anderson Reserve. Beautiful, cool atmosphere, nicest people, and delicious food!
Amazing! I took my wife out for her birthday, graft food, wine and service!
Unique out of the way place to dine. Best meat dishes on the planet!
The food and service was incredible! We enjoyed everything we had.
We will definitely be returning for brunch. Beautiful day, excellent view from upstairs. We even met the owner, who showed us around!
Food was served in generous portions with the exception of the sides, which were hidden under the meat. In order to eat the sides, we had to lift the meat with no place to move it to, while peeking under with a fork to take the hidden vegetables. While the food was well done, it was less than piping hot when it reached our table, and certainly not worth the very high price. It’s a place to visit and eat once, but there are many other places with high quality food for half the price we paid for our meal.
This was a really fun experience for my husband and me on our Anniversary - the drive to the restaurant was gorgeous and the staff friendly. The food was amazing - we couldn’t believe how perfectly the lobster and shrimp were prepared - light, flaky, and perfectly seasoned. Wonderful time!
Such a different experience than I expected. After seeing so many great reviews, we were really looking forward to this lunch.
The good:
Beautiful building. Gorgeous views. Very friendly people. Waitress was sweet and friendly.
The disappointing:
We asked for a recommendation on a big, bold and dry Cabernet. We trusted her when she said the red blend is what we should try. It was sweet and jammy - not at all what we asked for. I didn't want to start off complaining, so we let that one go.
Bone Marrow Appetizer - nothing but a tiny amount of flakes inside the bones. Waitress didn't offer to bring this to the chefs attention to rectify. We let it go.
Appetizer/salad plates were not removed before she brought out the meal. She asked us where we would like her to set the plates. Hmmm. On top of the dishes already covering the table?
We ordered the $65 Cowboy Steak - medium rare. She recommended to also go blackened. It was neither. Well done and hardly a char. This dish, she offered to take back to the kitchen. What came out next was literally the same thing. Again, we let it go thinking maybe this is just as good as it was going to get. Besides the meat being over cooked, even the slightly pink part in the middle had no flavor and virtually no marbling. I don't believe I have ever ordered a $65 steak before, so perhaps my expectations were too high? I have had some excellent steaks in many other restaurants for half the price, so I don't think so.
I don't want to blame the waitress for things that are out of her control. It's not her fault if something is wrong with the meal, but she should do all she can to make sure things are righted. Her enthusiastic attitude was appreciated, but the bottom line is that we came for the food.
Like I said, it is a beautiful setting. It looks like a great place to have a glass of wine and listen to music on the patio, but I would not play Russian Roulette with the menu again.
We enjoyed the ambiance and service here. We had the last reservation of the evening at 8:00 pm and a group of 8 for a birthday dinner. Our food came out lukewarm at best. The flavor was great, but the temperature of all but one of our plates was too cool. For the price paid per plate, one would expect the temperature to be perfect. The waitress was fantastic, live music was great. Will try again at an earlier time in the evening as we love to support the local guy. The presentation of the $35 charcuterie board needs some work, tasted fantastic, but looked thrown together and lots of unedible grapes.
Excellent service, friendly and great atmosphere!
Loved everything about our first visit! The beef was, hands down, the BEST I've ever had! Great wine and beer selection.
Looking forward to our next trip to get to sit on the patio!
This is definitely a Hidden Gem. Our waitress was absolutely amazing and the pictures look exactly like the facility. It was beautiful and fun. They have a lot of new things planned for the future it looks like. Awesome Summer Spot. They had live music. Didn't get his name but it was a gentleman playing the guitar and he was awesome. We went for our daughter's 40th birthday and it was An absolutely wonderful experience. Would highly recommend it.
I can’t say enough about how amazing Anderson Reserve is. From the moment we walk through the doors until we left. Everything was perfect. Thank you for an exceptional experience.
The building is beautiful, the staff and food was amazing! In my opinion, the food is a bit over priced. $65 for a 24oz piece of prime rib isn’t something I will be buying again anytime soon. All in all I’d recommend this restaurant for a special occasion dinning experience.
This is our favorite place e for a casual and five star meal. The beer list is extensive the wine list has something for everyone. The musician was excellent and not overwhelming.
We dined on the sesame crusted Ahi Tina and Home grown steak. Both were perfection. The clam chowder was superb!
Treat yourself to The Anderson Reserve. You will soon, also be a regular.
Our dinner at Anderson Reserve was well worth the drive out to Sweet from Boise. Our waiter David was great and the music was very nice. Our food was very delicious, next time I will definitely get the cowboy ribeye. We will definitely be going back.
This restaurant was amazing! The service was phenomenal and the food was absolutely mouthwatering. I really enjoyed the ambiance of light and live music. Their selection of wine was really amazing as well. I would go back to sit on the outdoor patio.
The food was excellent and we had a great waitress🤗 our reservation was at 4 so by the time we left it was getting a little loud with live music. We had a charcuterie board for an appetizer and it was a good choice. The seats are kind of like bar stools upstairs, so if that is a problem you might want to give it a thought.
Wonderful place. Beautiful restaurant! Love the barn and decor. My steak was probably one of the best steaks I've had. Melt in your mouth tenderness and the flavor was amazing. The service was great. We had a very nice server and everyone there was so friendly! Little on the spendy side but worth it! Can't wait to go back in the summer to enjoy the drive from Boise.
The steaks were better than any high-end establishment in the cities. No comparison.
Jacob, was our very friendly and efficient server. He did a great job keeping us stocked.
The owners are friendly, the atmosphere is charming and the drive in the country was relaxing. I recommend going before dark to enjoy the ride.
Nice place . . . beautiful drive! We will definitely return!
Was looking forward to the Sunday brunch at Anderson Reserve and had high expectations after hearing from friends but was disappointed by the food. Half my plate was cold. Steak was dry and over cooked on one side, and undercooked on the other. Very disappointed by the food. Service and ambiance was great but it was unfortunately not worth the trip for us.
Well worth the short drive. It held up to all the good reviews. Good food, ambiance and excellent service. Can't wait to make a return visit on live music night. Cheers
We had dinner on a Friday night. Phenomenal food, excellent service, live music that perfectly complimented the ambience. We can't wait to go back.
Fabulous dinner and staff. We just love an excuse to go out to dinner here! It’s always beyond yummy and unique.
We have had the pleasure of eating her multiple times. As previous visits, this one was amazing! Love pulling into the parking lot as the sun is going down, it's beautiful there! Food was amazing, service was amazing, and the love music was fantastic. Took a recovery box home too! See ya soon!
What a wonderful experience! The food and service were amazing.
Went there to celebrate a birthday. Anderson Reserve was a perfect fit for the occasion, and we will be going back. Excellent food and service. You will not be disappointed.
