About Américas River Oaks
The third incarnation of Américas, the global culinary experience from famed chef and restaurateur, Michael Cordúa, is now open in the heart of River Oaks. Partnered once again with celebrated architect and designer Jordan Mozer, who brought his outstanding talent and vision to the original Américas in 1993, Américas River Oaks will be a unique dining experience that represents the weaving of South, Central and North American cultures and cuisines—from Alaska to Chile. Cordúa, whose reputation as one of the leading proponents of authentic Latin cuisine, returns to his foundational roots and creates a stage to showcase the yummy foods that the Americas have given to the world. Continually blazing a trail of New World cuisine that keeps critics raving, FOOD & WINE recognized Cordúa as one of the pioneers of the modernization of Latin cuisine when naming him into the Hall of Fame: 50 Best New Chefs of all time in 2008.

Américas River Oaks Ratings and Reviews
We had booked our reservation in advance to take advantage of happy hour, but we were not informed happy hour isn't available in certain areas of the restaurant. We ended up overspending on glasses of wine and a small plate, when if it wasn't happy hour we would have just gotten the bottle of wine and made different choices about food. Very disappointed the staff was not helpful in explaining this nuance. Would recommend trying another establishment that is straightforward and upfront with their patrons.
At 6:30 thru 9:15PM the venue was 90% empty. Had service been better we would have been out sooner. The Fish in the Pargo Americas was supposed to be "Snapper". It was overdone and didn't look or taste like Snapper. Wife's Churrascos de Pollo was very very.....very salty, but because the waiter disappeared in an empty restaurant it took 30 minutes to get the dish replaced. A friend was with us, also celebrating a birthday . She had previously had the Pargo Americas several years ago and was "craving" the dish .... thus the reason we went to Americas. She also indicated she will not be going back. Service was poor and food was poor. There was no concern or apology when the salty chicken went back. This was a bad choice to celebrate two birthdays.
We had a great exprience. We went first time at this palce. fine dining, very good place including interior, out standing service, satff and chef are very much knowlegable. overall is me and my family like a lot. we would recommand this place to our friends.
I've been coming to America's since the days it was located over at Post Oak. I've always enjoyed the food whether I've come in the past for lunch, dinner, or brunch...until this time. Unfortunately, in a city where amazing restaurants are opening up always and food choices are aplenty, this one poor food experience is enough for me to make it my last visit. We spent nearly $200 for a group of 4 people. At that price point, we should have had an amazing meal, not one in which we regretted spending the money. I always liked the banana chips served at the beginning, that hasn't changed. We had the bone marrow and shrimp appetizer as well as some fish ceviche dish. Bone marrow was good but not bone licking good. The fish seemed less than fresh based on the texture, thus the dish was meh. As for my main course, I choose the pork tenderloin dish. Mind you, I'm not someone who eats pork on a regular basis, I generally don't like it, but I will always remember the one time in the past I did enjoy the pork tenderloin dish I had ordered because it was melt in your mouth good, so I was looking forward to enjoying this again. Unfortunately that wasn't the case this time. It was so hard and dry that I didn't touched the pork after 2 bites, and only ate the shrimp and crab topping. It felt like such a waste of a meal. The rest of my party had ordered different beef/steak type plates...the consensus...nothing to write home about. The food quality and taste seem to have gone downhill.
On a better note, the staff was very accommodating and attentive. Our water was constantly refilled. And the complimentary flambee dessert and show at the end was a nice touch. Still wishing we went somewhere else for my birthday meal though. I made a poor choice. :(
Absolutely the best place to take out of town guests for a special dinner, this time it was Thanksgiving. Everything was wonderful, the atmosphere was festive, and best of all, everyone got exactly what they wanted. Everyone agreed that each item eaten was just perfectly prepared.
WOW. The impeccable service from the moment you enter, decor, MOD, beverages, brunch variety, quality, flavor... and Mustache A.K.A Eric our top notch server, made this brunch one of our best in HTX so far. Stellar. I could go on and on. Definitely will return. Wondering how this place is below the radar?! Stumbled upon it online and couldn't believe I got a reservation for the next day. Once word gets out what awaits you after a short elevator trip to the 2nd floor, I suspect they will be a hard table to get for brunch alone! A truly unique experience that sets them apart from the masses.
4 in our party. 2 ordered the surf and turf special of the day (lobster and Churrasco), 1 ordered sea scallops and 1 the Churrasco’s steak with the Stilton. The lobsters were tasty, but the steaks were not very tender. The worst was the scallops, size was good but they did not taste fresh. The textile was on the gummy side. Disappointing meal.
