Americano restaurant is great for any occasion. The food and drinks are delicious and ambiance is amazing!
This has a nice atmosphere in a great part of San Francisco. Very tasty food and attentive waiters. You'll enjoy yourself there and get a good meal.
We ordered the hamburger, which was excellent and the Frisco Pizza. I liked the pizza but wish the cheese was spread out more and not in area to create a blob. For dessert, we had the apple tart and it was OK. The tart was under baked and the apples were inconsistent in doneness. Other than that, everything else was very good.
Bring back the Brussels sprouts!
Overall, price point is a bit steep for quality
Excellent venue for a business lunch, or casual dining. Have eaten there many times and always very satisfied. Thank you.
The food has always been memorable each time I’ve dined at Americano. Some of the tables can be very close to other patrons b this last time I got a table in the back by itself which was perfect. I highly recommend the Express Lunch as it gives you a little of everything (but plenty to fill you up). You get soup, salad, and choice of a pasta dish from the menu or a panini. All the food is great but I highly recommend getting the soup. For some reason their soup has always tasted better than any other restaurant I’ve visited.
Excelente lugar para cenar la víspera del Año Nuevo!
Wildly overpriced even by pre fix holiday standard for mediocre food and zero ambiance. Service was fine but not exceptional enough to make up for an otherwise uninspired meal. Would not return or recommend.
Food was bland. No seasoning, salt or herbs. Not worth the investment for New Years Eve. Service was hurried and not friendly but his assistant was helpful and more friendly. I expected much more. Beautiful location and was the perfect spot to walk to the water and watch fireworks.
New Year’s Eve get-together for 9 friends. We anticipated a great time but service was low par.
Our waiter was really good and trying very hard and very knowledgeable BUT his service partners didn’t quite know what was going on and made it challenging for our waiter.
When we asked for bread, service partner said, “I’m not your waiter.” A trained service person would say, “Let me get your waiter.”
When the food was served, there were missing flatware so we had to wait and flag service. No one was around we had to flag the front service person as good was getting cold. Same thing when dessert was served, no flatware.
Our patio location was not full unless there were more patrons in the main dining room but that should not excuse bad service.
I think that’s the problem with prix fixe and required 20% service charge. No incentive for the waiter’s service partners to support his efforts. Really made waiter look bad. He made it up be offering us tea and coffee for the 3 of us who appreciated the extra.
Prix fixe was good value. Prime rib was excellent. The prawns were overcooked and shell was sticking to prawn skin, we sent it back and were offered quail instead.
My experience at Americano restaurant for NYE was a little bit below average due to the following...
Closing Hours:
Upon checking in for our table, I asked one of the hostesses if it would be okay to stay until midnight for NYE and at first they stated that they would close at 1000pm. My reservation was at 845pm, which did not make sense as usually there is at least 2 hours for dining. Additionally, the wait staff did not know the official closing time and just kept referring to the bar making a last call possibly around 11pm. The restaurant stayed open until midnight, but it was a little uneasy not knowing if we were going to have to leave.
Food:
The prix fixe menu was of a decent value at $85, but nothing special. The appetizers were standard, but the mains were mediocre. I ordered the prime rib and unfortunately it was too salty. My wife ordered a prawn plate that could have been better if the prawns were shelled off and maybe offered a bit more than 3 pieces. Dessert was just standard.
Attentiveness:
The wait staff was friendly and did their best to serve as efficiently as possible. We definitely appreciated their service to serve patrons on NYE. However, for some of them not knowing when the restaurant would officially close was a bit concerning. One person apparently managing the staff allowed us to stay after we asked, which was much appreciated.
Overall:
The place was good for the location to celebrate NYE and see the fireworks at the Embarcadero, but it was lacking in some areas. The food could have been better and the staff could have been better informed about the closing as it was apparent that some did not know when it would shut down.
The ambiance and set up of the restaurant is very nice, but the food is what should be the attraction. Unfortunately, my experience of the food was not so good. For that main reason, I cannot recommend the restaurant, but I hope they can improve since it has a lot of good potential to be great.
Food poor quality , was served Luke warm . I wAs not informed of set menu , despite asking when booking was the menu a la Cart . Servers were rude , removed plates wile other guest still eating. Beef did not have a jus a described was the resting juices only . No decorations for New Year’s Eve . Extremely disappointing.
Christmas dinner
#1 our server, Debbie was awesome. Anyone that has to work on Christmas Day should be rewarded. She was a delight from the minute we sat down. #2 They ran out of the appetizers that two of our party had ordered moments before, so they needed to order something else. And it was only 6:30pm!! #3 They couldn't find the wine that we ordered, so we had to choose something else. More pluses than minuses however. The food was across the board great. We had a great time.
Christmas fixed price dinner was delicious!
Food was good. Service very good birthday on Christmas Day celebration.
Went for Christmas dinner. Pre Fixe menu was very good, with enough choices to satisfy everyone. The cost was very reasonable, and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We had a wonderful time. We were a party of 7 and the service was outstanding. The food was great and we were all pleased with the appetizers recommended.
Food is lovely: pizza, beet salad and heavenly flourless chocolate cake!
The food was fine. The server was a bit irritated since we were the last group booked for brunch that day. She did come around by mid-service. Over all the experience was OK.
Great and honest people there. Highly recommended.
The food was great. Prices are reasonable. Perhaps with having dinner at the Hotel the parking ticket could be reduced.
Great spot for a team lunch of 8. We were treated to a dining room away from the main area which was great and unexpected. Food was very good and had several options for everyone to try.
Food and service was terrific. Great location. Did not rush a business meeting during our meal.
This is a “go to” restaurant for me. Unfortunately, the steak was over cooked and the salad dressing was very tart.
What a fun vibe at Americano Restaurant; the service was great and the food was delicious. I had the king salmon and it was cooked perfectly.
Highlight was a delicious squid salad.
Nothing is ever truly perfect, but the food, service and ambiance at the Americano comes very close. The wait staff was professional, friendly and patient (some of us were 20 minutes late), made good recommendations and dealt with our mercurial food decision changes. The food: we grazed (and very well, thank you!) on a number of shared plates: deviled eggs with a sprig of prosciutto, Feta Piquillo Dip, pizzas, meatballs, squid with couscous, summer melon (perfectly ripe) and more. And then desserts: over-the-top deliciousness. Plates quietly arrived and disappeared, to be replaced by others, a testament to the service. Be sure to try the "frose". A light, airy summer cocktail!
Food was good but took an hour before we were able serve.
Great location for views of SF Bay; friendly and accommodating staff; food is delicious but portion size a bit large; flour less chocolate cake is to die for.
I hadn't been to Americano in more than 2 years. In that time it has gone from an elegant restaurant to a tourist pizza joint. The tomato and burrata salad was lovely but the main courses were fair at best and fairly expensive.
Food too salty, waiter forgot to bring a dish, pricey for poor quality and poor service!
Very limited menu, but quality was high. The deviled eggs were incredible. The wine was very good. And the service was incredible. The flavor of the main dishes was very good with very fresh ingredients. The quantity was less than I was expecting. I didn’t expect truck driver portion sizes, but the description of the item suggested that there was more to the dish than it contained. The limited menu would leave some dinners wanting
Restaurant did not provide request for a view and gave us table in back room
The menu was pretty limited. We asked for salads because there was none on the menu. I had a green salad that was bitter and tasteless. My husband had the Caesar which was ok. The pizza was thin and pretty good. The ambience is great but the food only ok. Oh and the wine price list is way over the top expensive over three times the cost of the same bottle at a store. Most restaurants charge double.
Average food, limited menus, novice service
Price to quality ratio out of line
Great spot for work lunches, especially if the company is paying.
Great lunch express options. Fast, quality, and good!
I had a reservation and showed up early to get our table. I was seated by the hostess and sat there for 30+ minutes before anyone ever came over to take our order. My friend had to get up and go ask the hostess to send a waiter - even though a bunch of them walked past us and we tried to make eye contact and wave them down. Finally, 45 minutes after being seated we were able to put in our order of both food and drinks. No one ever came over to check in and see if we liked our drinks (or wanted a second one) and if we liked our food or wanted to order additional items. Truly TERRIBLE customer service even though it was very expensive. Good luck getting repeat customers.
Went for Easter brunch, it was mediocre. Manager or like person brought the coffee to the table, spilled it, no apology or attempt to even clean it up. The food was mediocre, service minus the manager was good and the menu was very limited. Price is too much for the quality. If you are going to order anything go either blueberry pancakes or avocado toast. Also note they hit you with 20% grat.
I can say, if you come here after work for happy hour in the summer the place is bomb!
