Indifferent maitre'd and waitstaff. Had to find my own table as maitre'd was busy socializing with kitchen.
Wanted a quiet corner table for business meeting; they lied and said it was reserved...remained EMPTY during my entire breakfast meeting. Waited forever for waiter to acknowledge me for water and drinks/menu...had to go up to maitre'd to ask for service.
Made a reservation 2 days before a business lunch only to get there and discover that they were closed for renovations....
The bartenders provide excellent service for drinks, wine, and food. The pizzas here are some of the best this side of the Mississippi. Italian sausage is good with a little spiciness. The cheese burger is very generous in size with good flavor and plenty of juicy tenderness, bun is house made. French fries are fresh and crispy.
Excellent Thanksgiving dinner!
Very nice, something for everyone except for the noise (which was a birthday celebration (and they all wanted to become hearing impaired)). Food was exceptional (dessert was good, didn't rise to level of mains or apps).
It can be hard to find restaurants in San Francisco that are quiet enough and refined enough to have a pleasant business meal. Americano is perfect, with service that was attentive but not intrusive, thoughtful menu, convenient location, and good food. I'd highly recommend the private room for a group of eight to twelve.
Good location, good food. Service is really slow.
Food was great, as was the service. It was pretty noisy, mostly coming from the bar area.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance.
I probably will not go back to Americno. It clearly is not what is used to be. I told the bar server I wanted to try one of the drinks on the drink menu, minus one of the ingredients. He informed that could not be done because the drink was already pre-made in a batch! Well, call me old fashioned, but I always thought a bartender could mix a drink of any kind, as long as the ingredients were on hand--which they were in this case. Then, the martini I ordered definitely did not come in a chilled martini glass--the drink was warm. Given what they charge for a drink, both of these instances are not ok with me. The dinner was ok, but not the high quality I have had there in the past. The pork chop was over cooked. There was no type of carb, such as bread, with the entre. nor was bread even offered. Again, that just isn't the service I want for the amount they charge. SF has a lot of restaurant alternatives, and until I know Americano ups its game, I will go elsewhere.
Great location, a big expensive, service is a bit slow. Food is very good.
Great location and excellent service. Lunch menu is limited, but good food.
The entree selection was small and the food choices were not to our tastes. The worst part of the meal was that the staff repeatedly came by and removed our dishes and silverware before we were finished. They took away our bread oil and we had to ask to replace it. They also brushed the tabletop several times while we were eating. The room service breakfast was also a joke. We ordered two meals, they only brought one, and when they brought the second breakfast, they forgot the silverware. Overall, the Americano Restaurant was the worst dining service that we have ever experienced.
Great place for early morning breakfast with business colleagues or friends. Great selection of traditional and contemporary breakfast fare.
Great food and ambiance! Perfect setting for a business lunch. Not noisy at all for lunch.
Food was mixed and service was slower than ideal. I think it was the loudest espresso machine I've ever heard.
And my Open Table reservation didn't exist with the restaurant.
Jorge was great!
Our server was fantastic. She assisted my 12yr daughter to create a mix of a couple dishes that were on the menu to meet her expectations.
Location is a great part of the experience here. Food was pretty good but there are extremely limited options if you don't want pizza, panini or pasta. There are no regular protein entrees, only salads with protein added.
Server didn't really understand a few things we said. I wish they had tablecloths too, sometimes it feels like eating in a bar, even in the restaurant.
Mother's Day brunch was great. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great view if all the activity in the Embarcadero. I fmgot the buffet, she got the 3-course preset menu. We both had mimosa's. The best part if the experience was that our kids (almost 4 and almost 1) were made to feel welcome and celebrated along with us. We'd definitely do it again.
Food was good and service was amazing. Very limited menu, not sure if I would go back but food was good. Hostess was a bit snooty/snotty. We had reservations at 5:30 and got there at 5:27. She told us to step to the side because the restaurant didn't open until 5:30. I get it that they don't open until 5:30 but maybe a better phrase would have been "ok it will be a few minutes why don't you have a drink in the bar and I will come get you when your table is ready". Just felt a little rude.
A perfect and convenient place for business meetings. Reliable fast service always. Friendly staff
Ate outside, very enjoyable!
This is a great destination for lunch near the Embarcadero. There is plenty of seating and it's a lot less noisy than other spots where you can't even hear the person sitting across from you. In addition to a nice ambiance and cool art, the food and drinks are excellent. I always order the crispy artichoke & Brussels sprouts appetizer, and usually one of their salads. I've been here 5-6 times and have found the dining experience to be very consistent.
Food was amazing, service was great, and they even provided dessert with a candle for my friend’s birthday. I indicated that it was a birthday lunch but I didn’t know if they would do anything special, so it was a really nice surprise.
Checking in near the bar, the noise level was bomb-like loud. Once we got back to the table, it was more quiet, but still there is a din in this restaurant. For being a Wed night, it was clearly a hot spot.
The food and service were very good. Overall, it's a good place to eat but probably a better place to drink.
I selected this restaurant looking for a quiet atmosphere to have a business conversation over a meal. The food was okay, not overly tasty rather a bit bland. My co-worker had the same experience. I would only return if I need a quiet place again for business but not returning based on food quality.
A great place for cocktails and super delicious appetizers and more. The bar scene is crazy vibrant spilling out on to the huge patio along the Embarcadero, but if you want a quite conversation, you can have dinner in the back of the dining room. Nice spot.
This was a Friday night dinner. The bar was very lively. We sat one table back in restaurant which made it a little more noisy.
I suggest asking for table further back in restaurant. Delicious appetizer of artichoke and brussel sprouts. Mushroom pizza very tasty !
Nice attentive service. Great view of the ferry building. Valet parking.
Great ambiance, excellent service, delicious food!
Not happy with service charge of 20% being added to the bill for just a table of 2. Dirty glasses left on table. Wine pairings brought over to table late. Felt quite rushed. No I taste of marrow in the bone marrow mash. Not worth the money.
Wish there were more tables dedicated for dates besides the tall bar chairs with tiny tables.
I had a magical dinner here. It is a great place. Servers were friendly but not overly present. Food was good.
Food was cold and prime rib overdone. Disappointed.
Remains one of our favorites in SF. Probably the second or third time we've dined there and will keep going back!
I was very pleasantly surprised with the food here. Went here for lunch with coworkers. Had the Brussel/artichoke starter that was delish and good for sharing ! For entrée I had the sausage pizza. Middle was a bit floppy but the flavors were bright and distinctive. Others had grilled cheese and soup combo. The cauliflower soup was especially yummy. Also be sure to ask for bread when you sit down. It comes warm and perfectly crusty on outside and soft in middle, and served with olive oil and basalmic. Very reasonable prices too.
We had a fantastic dinner at Americano Restaurant. Every detail was meticulously handled. Loved the appetizer - a peppers and feta cheese spread on hot grilled bread. The branzino was delicious and beautiful. The "old-fashioned sundae" for dessert was anything but. Especially enjoyed the bitters toffee sauce. Wine list was spendy. The wine we ordered from Freemark Abbey was very enjoyable.
We had our Thanksgiving meal at Americano, and it was wonderful. The food was outstanding and the service was lovely.
I bring guests here frequently because it's easy to visit and the food is very reliable and delicious. Not what one sometimes expects from hotel dining, but this is a very nice exception. The bar can be crazy busy in warm weather and at Happy Hour. I've had the least positive experience then -- so many people and not enough staff. But for a meal, everything is exactly on the money. Grilled cheese and tomato soup on a rainy afternoon was my most recent delicious experience. Great salads and pizza. Good place to bring a client when you need to speak privately.
Service and food were. Outstanding! We’re coming back
