I hadn't been to Americano in more than 2 years. In that time it has gone from an elegant restaurant to a tourist pizza joint. The tomato and burrata salad was lovely but the main courses were fair at best and fairly expensive.
Food too salty, waiter forgot to bring a dish, pricey for poor quality and poor service!
Very limited menu, but quality was high. The deviled eggs were incredible. The wine was very good. And the service was incredible. The flavor of the main dishes was very good with very fresh ingredients. The quantity was less than I was expecting. I didn’t expect truck driver portion sizes, but the description of the item suggested that there was more to the dish than it contained. The limited menu would leave some dinners wanting
Restaurant did not provide request for a view and gave us table in back room
The menu was pretty limited. We asked for salads because there was none on the menu. I had a green salad that was bitter and tasteless. My husband had the Caesar which was ok. The pizza was thin and pretty good. The ambience is great but the food only ok. Oh and the wine price list is way over the top expensive over three times the cost of the same bottle at a store. Most restaurants charge double.
Average food, limited menus, novice service
Price to quality ratio out of line
Great spot for work lunches, especially if the company is paying.
Great lunch express options. Fast, quality, and good!
I had a reservation and showed up early to get our table. I was seated by the hostess and sat there for 30+ minutes before anyone ever came over to take our order. My friend had to get up and go ask the hostess to send a waiter - even though a bunch of them walked past us and we tried to make eye contact and wave them down. Finally, 45 minutes after being seated we were able to put in our order of both food and drinks. No one ever came over to check in and see if we liked our drinks (or wanted a second one) and if we liked our food or wanted to order additional items. Truly TERRIBLE customer service even though it was very expensive. Good luck getting repeat customers.
Went for Easter brunch, it was mediocre. Manager or like person brought the coffee to the table, spilled it, no apology or attempt to even clean it up. The food was mediocre, service minus the manager was good and the menu was very limited. Price is too much for the quality. If you are going to order anything go either blueberry pancakes or avocado toast. Also note they hit you with 20% grat.
I can say, if you come here after work for happy hour in the summer the place is bomb!
Best pizza in SF. LOUD bar crowd after work. Would like to see a bigger red wine list.

Generally a typical fancy hotel restaurant. Very stylish, some typically Bay Area quirky art (pictured of people on the ceiling). Prices are high — $20+ for pizza and pasta dishes, upwards for mains. Wine glasses between $12-17.
But food was surprisingly tasty. Crust on flavorful pizza was delightfully light and chewy. Noodles, yes, the noodles themselves were perfectly prepared and delicious, and so was the sauce. Dessert very nice.
Best of all though was the wine. I do mind paying near bottle prices for glasses but less so when the flavor of each of our wines was characteristic yet imaginative. A joy to the palate. I will definitely visit again. Great service.
Colleague had a big in her food.
Went for a birthday weekend getaway and heard about a great patio for dining so decided to make a reservation. Didn’t need one for a Sunday evening as they didn’t serve in the dining room. The food was delicious but very sparse. Ordered a pizza and bolognese dish that combined we thought could be shareable but wasn’t. In terms of overall value, I wouldn’t recommend going there exclusively for the food - there are a lot of competitors who offer more at similar price point but probably a good spot for cocktails after work hours for a local.
Staff seemed off that day. Party of 10. One of our meals was clearly forgotten. But typically love having work lunches here. Old Fashioned’s with grilled cheese.
We had a lunch meeting at it was right in the middle of the heart of San Francisco. The parking access was very easy to find. The process with the reservation was very easy on OpenTable. I was very pleased with the interior design and the set up was very clean. The server was very knowledgable of the menu and very helpful. The cook did an amazing job with each meal that it was very well presented and indeed great taste. I was very pleased with the experience and would recommend this location for any other business dining.
Our meal at Americano was very good. We had a really good thin crust pizza and delicious salads. The service was excellent and they have a nice wine list. The bar area is noisy but quieter in the dining area so we could have a conversation. It looks like a nice place to grab a drink after work. Bonus was valet parking so we did not have to drive around forever looking for a parking spot.
Great breakfast spot for a large group. Menu had something for everyone. Table was comfortable with a fantastic Bay Bridge view. Service was on point! Highly recommend.
It was nice I liked it and your staff were great.
Excellent experience...service and food. Highly recommend.
Service was great. Food was good. The only negative was that we were there for dinner and being dark outside, we couldn’t see anything. I was hoping to see the bridge and the water. Probably would have if it would have been over lunch.
Fabulous bartender Adam ! Great service , food & cocktails.
Friendly, good service, delicious, but short menu for lunch.
Good but nothing impressive. The food was decent but the falcon was average
Excellent service, lovely space, delicious and promptly served food. It’s such a great place!
Indifferent maitre'd and waitstaff. Had to find my own table as maitre'd was busy socializing with kitchen.
Wanted a quiet corner table for business meeting; they lied and said it was reserved...remained EMPTY during my entire breakfast meeting. Waited forever for waiter to acknowledge me for water and drinks/menu...had to go up to maitre'd to ask for service.
Made a reservation 2 days before a business lunch only to get there and discover that they were closed for renovations....
The bartenders provide excellent service for drinks, wine, and food. The pizzas here are some of the best this side of the Mississippi. Italian sausage is good with a little spiciness. The cheese burger is very generous in size with good flavor and plenty of juicy tenderness, bun is house made. French fries are fresh and crispy.
Excellent Thanksgiving dinner!
This has been my go to for offsite meetings and meals. It is casual but nice, busy but not too loud, and has options for most dietary requirements.
Very nice, something for everyone except for the noise (which was a birthday celebration (and they all wanted to become hearing impaired)). Food was exceptional (dessert was good, didn't rise to level of mains or apps).
It can be hard to find restaurants in San Francisco that are quiet enough and refined enough to have a pleasant business meal. Americano is perfect, with service that was attentive but not intrusive, thoughtful menu, convenient location, and good food. I'd highly recommend the private room for a group of eight to twelve.
Good location, good food. Service is really slow.
Food was great, as was the service. It was pretty noisy, mostly coming from the bar area.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance.
I probably will not go back to Americno. It clearly is not what is used to be. I told the bar server I wanted to try one of the drinks on the drink menu, minus one of the ingredients. He informed that could not be done because the drink was already pre-made in a batch! Well, call me old fashioned, but I always thought a bartender could mix a drink of any kind, as long as the ingredients were on hand--which they were in this case. Then, the martini I ordered definitely did not come in a chilled martini glass--the drink was warm. Given what they charge for a drink, both of these instances are not ok with me. The dinner was ok, but not the high quality I have had there in the past. The pork chop was over cooked. There was no type of carb, such as bread, with the entre. nor was bread even offered. Again, that just isn't the service I want for the amount they charge. SF has a lot of restaurant alternatives, and until I know Americano ups its game, I will go elsewhere.
Great location, a big expensive, service is a bit slow. Food is very good.
Great location and excellent service. Lunch menu is limited, but good food.
The entree selection was small and the food choices were not to our tastes. The worst part of the meal was that the staff repeatedly came by and removed our dishes and silverware before we were finished. They took away our bread oil and we had to ask to replace it. They also brushed the tabletop several times while we were eating. The room service breakfast was also a joke. We ordered two meals, they only brought one, and when they brought the second breakfast, they forgot the silverware. Overall, the Americano Restaurant was the worst dining service that we have ever experienced.
