The Dining room was so hot that I could not finish my meal due to terrible nausea. I was comped my meal which I appreciated. However, my daughters treated me to a special dinner for my birthday and I could not sit with them to enjoy it. The food was adequate, but for $80 it certainly was no value. I expected a lot more variety and a lot more food for that price. The manager stated that maintenance was called about the a/c but I just noticed that another review from a week ago had the same complaint.

One of prettiest dining rooms in America. good food and service. The price Fixx meal is a bit pricey.

This was an enjoyable dining experience. I'm not used to paying this much for a dinner, but the food very good and the service was superb.

As someone who has visited the Homestead many times over the years, I was truly disheartened by our recent experience at the American Audubon Dining Room. We made a Thursday night reservation to celebrate me and my husband's anniversary, and to specifically to enjoy the regular dinner menu, which was clearly advertised online and displayed outside the restaurant. However, the only option was the “Friday Prime Rib Buffet,” being served a day early. There was no mention on the Homestead website, OpenTable where we booked, or otherwise that the menu would not be available nor any schedule changes that would be made for the 4th of July holiday. All restaurant information sources explicitly mentioned that only Fridays were the Prime Rib Buffet. We chose a 7:00 PM reservation expecting a quiet, elegant, adult-oriented dinner, as did numerous other couples who were equally dressed up expecting a formal dinner. What we got instead was a chaotic and loud environment that felt more like a family cafeteria than a fine dining experience. Children were running around the dining room yelling and dancing, while the (albeit very talented) pianist played only Disney songs. We were done with dinner in under 50 minutes, not because we were in a hurry, but because there was simply nothing worth lingering over. The food was ok at best, and for a party of 2 in addition to a singular glass of wine, the price was over $200 ... for a buffet. We retreated to the adjacent Presidential Lounge Bar where there we then found more loud children messing around on the pool table in the back and a child at the bar itself; all accompanied by parents, but clearly in what should be adult-only areas. We felt completely misled and honestly a bit taken advantage of. This experience fell far below the Homestead’s usual standards and left us questioning whether the resort is still committed to providing the kind of memorable, upscale experience that adult guests come here for.
