Mike was fantastic. Great service, food and drinks!
I asked for them to call me so I could set up something special for our special night. They did not do this. And they actually sat us at the smallest table they had. This was a disappointment that continued to get worse. We ordered food. The salad, “artisan romaine” was not good at all. The dressing did not taste like Caesar dressing at all, it was sour. The next course came out, our filet mignons, and both my wife’s and mine were extremely extremely salty. Good steaks do no need to be seasoned so heavily. The Mac n cheese and potatoes were ok. The grilled asparagus was anything but. It was NOT grilled. Finally to remedy our salad issue we had, they brought us a free soufflé. Soufflés are supposed to light and fluffy, not a dense stale chocolate cake with chocolate melted over it. I have had better microwaveable chocolate soufflés from the grocery store and the Mexican milk shake was nothing but milk and ice. This entire experience was not pleasing. While we will be back to stay at the hotel, we will never eat at your restaurant again. I believe someone should look into this. Also a suggestion, when setting your tables outside, do not leave the door open when it’s 95 degrees outside while you seat and clean off tables. People choose to sit inside for a reason, so subjecting them to awful heat and bugs because you didn’t close the door behind you is asinine.
Food was good. Good selection, not much is gluten free. It was a little noisy due to the mariachi band. Overall, good experience with good service.
Short on staff, but understandable; didn't rally experience any problems.
The food was good!
Kelsey was awesome, the steaks were perfectly cooked, and the drinks were on point!
We made a reservation for a 1 pm brunch and arrived on time. No one waited on us at the hostess desk for about 15 minutes and when we were finally waited on were told the brunch menu would not be available. They offered the breakfast menu “because we were so busy this morning.” We left without eating here because of the poor service upon arrival and change in menu. We won’t be back or try this place in the future.
This was my second night in a row having dinner at Ambler. The food, atmosphere and service were so good Friday night, we cancelled a reservation at another restaurant to dine at Ambler a second time and try different menu items. The service and food did fail at all. It was an absolutely amazing meal. We'll definitely be back.
Girlfriends food was lukewarm, my food was completely cold. We were 1 of 3 tables and food was served to us very slowly and cold when they weren’t busy. Alcohol couldn’t be served because of painting in the hotel lobby. Dumb reason, they weren’t painting that day. Could’ve opened patio doors, and it didn’t smell even a tiny bit like paint fume.
Great food and even better service. We will be back!!!
Overall our family of 5 had a good experience, partly due in no small part to our excellent server, Michael. He really made the experience good and if it were just up to rating the service, I would give this restaurant 5 starts, but would have to say there were a few small issues with the meal, though overall I would still recommend this restaurant for both the food and service.
Michael kept checking on us and giving us recommendations throughout the entire meal. To start, we had the Roasted Cauliflower and Chorizo Queso which was delicious. We also had the Skillet Corn Bread, which was a little small and not particularly special, and the House Guacamole, which was just OK.
For entrees, we had the Chili-Glazed Short Rib with charred vegetable and potato enchilada, which was very good. We also had the Pappardelle Pasta with Texas Lamb Sausage and the Filet Mignon. Both were good, though the Filet Mignon, which was ordered medium-rare, came out a little too rare, but Michael right away took it back tot he kitchen and it improved, but was still not perfect, so he insisted on taking it back again and brought it back perfect. It was evident he really wanted our meal to come out perfectly.
For dessert we had the mixed berry cobbler with ice cream. However, there was not much cobbler on the plate, and it was mainly berries with some ice cream, so it was just OK. Also, we were informed no coffee is served after a certain hour since they would have to make a new pop, in which we were a little disappointed.
However, in all, this was a good meal, made significantly better by our excellent server and he really elevated the dining experience there, so I would recommend giving them a try, and we will certainly go back in the future.
Had a great experience! Food was great, drinks were tasty yet strong, and best view of the riverwalk!
Our server was phenominal and she did immediately offer to switch out my steak that was cooked medium well when I ordered rare. This has been a problem for the past year everywhere I go...I have not received a rare steak out of my last 10 orders of steak. This was overdone. I do not trust a chef that cooks a rare steak that much to get it right a second time. It's a travesty to have to send the steak back in my opinion, so I ate what I was served. It was not overly chewy thanks to the cut I ordered. The La Casita mango with Tajin was alright. Wish it had more Tajin and Tequila. My daughter had the mac and cheese, which she rightly noted was not that cheesy, more bread crumbs than cheese. We both loved the loaded whipped potatoes. The ambience was lovely and our server was too. We had a lovely dinner, but I am hard pressed to "highly" recommend Ambler to others.
Excellent service despite the hectic pace from the Cavaliers' River Parade. Megan is an incredible bartender and kept the drinks flowing with a big smile all evening. Dinner at 9 was great. A smaller menu but everything was done very well. Prefer that over a large one with mediocre selections. Wonderful experience overall. Go check it out!
Awesome night at a quiet spot on the Riverwalk, and the service and food outstanding
Good food and great service
Was greeted promptly and shown to our table. That’s where the experience started to tank. Weren’t waited on for 10-12 minutes then it took another 7-8 to have our water glasses filled. Inquired about mimosas since it was a place with “cocktails” in the tag line near their name and was informed that they didn’t serve any alcohol until 4:00 p.m. We were disappointed but amenable and started to choose our selections. Server didn’t come back by at all. When we informed them that we were going elsewhere, both the server and manager appeared obviously relieved. There were no tables seated inside other than ours and although they were busy on the patio, there were only 10 or so small tables outside. I always give the benefit of the doubt because I spent many years in the restaurant/bar industry. The service here simply stank and they didn’t care. Also, please note that the menu is extremely limited. Probably began because of COVID, but it’s pretty safe to presume they’ll keep that version.
Great food and service. There was a big party in house, but the management and service staff really did a great job.
We found this gem by chance. They had just recently opened. The dishes were fantastic, our young servers were charming. We will definitely return.
