   The interior was cool, perhaps 68, The salad was lacking in taste or interesting ingredients, The main course took too long to be tabled. The steelhead was not hot and lacked the taste one expects from trout plus the serving was not a half of the fish but rather a hunk of fish from the head end. The restaurant offered no beer, except a non-alcoholic one, Not worth a return. RDH

   Always Delicious! Wine list is generous. Whenever we are in SF we dine at Altovino. Hidden neighborhood gem!

   The food was excellent, but the space was very loud and cramped, with tables in close proximity to one another. We were celebrating our 13th anniversary and hoped for a quieter environment where we could talk without shouting over the noise. When it came time to settle the bill, I informed the server that I had a gift card. Rather than applying it at the table, I was asked to immediately get up and follow them to the front to process it. Once there, they insisted on closing me out entirely. I hadn’t brought my purse up, as I assumed I’d settle the balance back at the table. The staff member simply responded, “Well, we accept Apple Pay.” It felt rushed and awkward—why not let me handle it when we were finished? I wanted to love this place since it’s in my neighborhood, and I’ve heard great things. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t feel special enough for an anniversary celebration.

   Absolutely amazing food, all perfectly seasoned. We loved the pappardelle and tagliatelle dishes. The insalata invernale was also delicious. Nice wine selection and attentive service. Will definitely be back!

   One of my favorite restaurants in town. Food is great, service is wonderful and professional (the service in this city has gone down hill badly) and the atmosphere is relaxing warm and I can actually hear the people I am sitting with talk. Always a great experience. Thank you to this crew

   Altovino is one of the exceptional restaurants in San Francisco. It’s an Italian restaurant, but at a very high level. Everything there is original, delicious, and just a super fine dining experience. The wine selections are excellent as you would expect. Pasta is superb. I can only speak about the black cod entree because we both ordered that dish. The preparation is impressive. Each piece of fish is cooked inside a pie crust. And they open that pie crust at your table. It’s a beautiful presentation. And the fish is absolutely perfectly cooked. You will be pleasantly surprised with every dish at Altovino. Few restaurants really master the art of fine dining and service. Altovino is at the top of the list. It’s just awesome!

    Came by with my BFF for an impromptu celebration. Every dish shocked us with deliciousness, decor is cozy and beautiful, our waiter was kind and made great recommendations. This is a new favorite restaurant!
