When we approached the restaurant the host continued to talk to the bartender rather than welcoming us. I had to say hello before she acknowledged us. The waiter was GREAT. He gave exceptional service and was educated on the menu. The food was Ok... it lacked flavor. Spicy udon wasn’t spicy and the risotto was overcooked.

Hi there, Thank you for joining us, and for the feedback! I am so sorry for the less than welcoming interaction with our host. That's definitely not the first impression we want to make. Your notes have been shared with our chef and the rest of our staff, and we are always working to improve. We appreciate your business during these times and we hope to welcome you back in when indoor dining resumes. Thank you again and take care.

I appreciated being able to make the reservation online. The seating was appropriate for social distancing measures. It was clean and uplifting. Parking was expensive. It would be nice if that was covered by the restaurant. The manager was informative and professional. The food was prepared in a timely fashion, was the proper temperature, and was elegantly plated. Food had good energy, was healthy, and delicious. I would recommend it to friends. Better lunch stop - because it is on the 7th floor of Saks, so transitioning to the store is less than desirable for a date.

Located on the 7th floor inside the Saks Fifth Avenue store ALTHEA is a delicious gem of vegan and vegetarian fare in a bright, modern space. Staff is attentive and the menu wide-ranging with a fabulous drink menu. Went for lunch will return for brunch and explore the drink menu. We shared the "crab" cakes, little gem salad and a risotto curry plus apple cobble for dessert. Everything was delicious!

Everything was divine!

Although our favorites were:

Snack: Kimchi dumplings

Starter: Italian chopped salad and crab cakes (tie for first)

Entree: Cacio de Pepe Kelp Noodles

Dessert: Coconut cream pie

Service was phenomenal

Will definitely be going back for more soon!

The food was outstanding. While I enjoyed Green Zebra food as long as it was around in Chicago, I am otherwise somewhat skeptical of pure vegetarian restaurants (other than ethnic ones of course). The food here was a revelation. I enjoyed every dish - the combination of textures and flavors truly hit the spot. The one oddity is the location. They need to find a way to make access easier. Good luck!!

First experience a few months ago for brunch brought me back.
This time - flavor was not “spicy” as indicated and a 30+min gap from one small appetizer to dinner. I had to acknowledge the wait time and it was a Wednesday night. Not busy.
May be hard to visit again :-/

There was a lengthy amount of time between when we placed our orders and when our orders were delivered to the table. Furthermore, I did not feel the food warranted the price. As I had brought 2 non-vegan colleagues to try vegan cuisine for the first time, I really wanted to impress them with flavorful and well prepared food. I was SO disappointed that I was unable to provide them a truly impact experience.

I'm an omnivore that took a vegetarian friend here for her birthday. Everything was great and would definitely recommend to vegetarians and vegans. But none of the food we got (we ordered five different things to try) wowed us. I don't regret trying it out, but I probably won't be craving it any time soon.

Food, service, ambiance...everything was outstanding. Kinda quirky that it's inside Saks but the view is fabulous. Absolutely loved the kimchi dumplings, crab cakes, raw lasagna, kelp noodles, and veg burger. For dessert we tried the coconut pie and a couple of ice creams and they were insanely tasty. My friend is not vegan but was just along for the ride and ended up loving everything. Also the wine list is approachable PLUS organic and sustainable!! Service was genuinely friendly, knowledgeable, and down to earth. So happy this place exists, I'll be back many times!

We booked a table for Valentine's Day about a month in advance. We arrived five minutes before our scheduled time but actually got the table more than an hour and a half later!
There are many explanations and reasons for this, as we heard from a manager, but in practice it was simply time and order management!
Above all, as a vegan for the last 8 years, the food was mediocre and nothing more.
Although we didn't pay for the meal in the end, it was an unpleasant evening and our last time at this restaurant!

Hi Matthew, I apologize for the very subpar experience you had with us on Valentine's Day. We failed to account for a number of factors and this led to high wait times, for which there's no excuse. While the views and ambience were nice, we had to wait 45 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. They compensated us with free drinks, but unfortunately this circumstance was tough to overlook. The food was creative and presented well, but not very flavorful. If you’re just looking for upscale vegan dining in the most touristy area of town, this is what you get. If you want delicious vegan food, there are more affordable and well managed options.

Small restaurant within Saks department store was size of a broom closet that presents itself as upscale but fails miserably to deliver. When we arrived, they told us it will be a 20 min wait, turned out to be 40 min, so for a tiny restaurant = overbooked. To apologize they brought us complimentary glasses of wine (house wines not that good) in the middle of service after we had already purchased wine pairings packages (a series of white wines that all tasted the same) with the 4 course meal. They sloppily brought out the courses along with wine pairings. Food lacked taste and imagination. Overall if I could have given no stars, I would have. Extremely overpriced for the experience and food!

Best place I have been to in the city. My wife and I recently became vegan. I too here there for Valentine’s Day which was also our 6 year wedding anniversary. They served us several good and new dishes the waiting staff was super helpful and friendly always attentive of you needs. One of the waiters tried to stop me from tipping him because he felt it was his duty to take care of up(I ended up tipping him very handsomely either way he was just that good) I really liked it going back next month.

I took someone I am really fond of here and I was so disappointed. Service was rushed and tag teamed, we had to knock and wait by the door to get security to let us in and at the end of our meal because I am a more masculine presenting female the check wasn’t left in the middle it was given to me and after my date clearly paid the receipt was again handed back to me which really bothers me. Teach you staff to not assume. Good food, strange atmosphere and very very poor service. Don’t take reservations at 7:45 if you want me out by 9 and the security guard is going to follow me to the elevator and say “the last two are leaving”. Not what I wanted my first date to be like.
