Carlos was very knowledgeable on the menu and most helpful. His recommendations were excellent. The next time we are in northern Virginia we will be sure to eat at Alta Strada Mosaic. We had a great experience.
First time and will definitely be back. Good was amazing and server/bar tender was great.
I didn’t like that all waitstaff working outside did not wear masks
Fresh pasta with incredible pizza and the Chicken Parmigiana was excellent. I have to mention the cocktails from their vast selections were tops.
We ate outside right next to the play area. Beautiful evening and fun to hear the kids playing on the green area. I had spaghetti with clam sauce. Very good! could only eat half the portion. Others in group had bolognese, ravioli, spaghetti with AOP sauce. Everyone enjoyed. The garlic bread was excellent. would be nicce if bread was complimentary.
We were the only table there at noon and nobody came over until we flagged down staff about 30 minutes after we sat. Food is mediocre at best... did not realize Italian pasta sauce is loaded with black pepper. Was suppose to get cheese with meatballs but that was forgotten.
Would not go back considering it was not even very reasonably priced. Not worth it.
Not very please with the eggplant parmesan. Burnt around the edges, dry on top and greasy underneath. Service was terrific and appetizers were good.
The restaurant was not busy at all at 7:00 on a Thursday. We were seated promptly and the waiter arrived soon after. He suggested a nice reasonably priced wine. The menu is simple but all of the dishes were delicious.
The eggplant parmigiana was full of grease, we could have measured out a cup full of oil/fat. The pizza crusts were very hard. The chicken parmigiana was tasty but incredibly salty. The branzino was good but quite small for the price.
Had the best time with zoey!
Always great food and service! They always go the extra step to make you feel so welcome
Service was terrible. Server had too many tables.
Well leaving it up to you I was below average slow. Waiter took forever to bring additional requested condiments. Food was okay only average
Just a really nice spot for a Friday night dinner with family (and a Saturday brunch with my shopping buddy on an earlier occasion.) The food is simple yet rich, location is charming and service is outstanding. Even the simple cup of decaf was top notch. I will come back regularly.
Restaurant week courses 2 and 3 took very long to come out. Our waiter Evan said 6 mins more after a while on the entrees but they came out about 15 mins later.
Service was a little slow but the food was delicious!
We were drawn to try the Brunch because it was of their restaurant week menu, it looked very good and a great value for $22 for 3 courses. There was two of us and we basically split every dish. We started with the Loaded Potatoes and the Burrata (+$3), both dishes were yummy and a great size for an appetizer. For entrees, I got the Penna Alla Vodka, the best dish of the day, sauce was a bit thin but flavor was amazing and pasta was cooked perfectly, I would come back just for this! The other dish was the Carbonara, it was extremely disappointing, it was so loaded with black pepper you couldn't taste anything else. The chunks of leeks and onions were also off putting, there seemed to be more of those than pasta, for an additional $3, this was not good and we definitely wouldn't order it again. For dessert, the cannoli's were okay, didn't taste fresh, but the Tiramisu was life changing! Definitely get this! Overall okay, but definitely a little disappointing. Service was great though!
Went for restaurant week. My wife and I both enjoyed a 3 course meal for $35 a piece. Our waiter was very helpful with his suggestions on what to order, and those suggestions were accurate.
I love this restaurant. We did feel a bit rushed. It was restaurant week and they did warn on the site there would be a table limit but with half the tables empty we weren’t expecting to be pushed on quite as much as we were. I’ve never had that here before :/
Great experience, would have loved more on the gelato scoops, they were really small in comparison to the other desert options
Great service and great food. Def. recommend if you’re look for good Italian food.
Restaurant week gave us an opportunity to try a number of the menu items, all were outstanding, incredibly fresh and tasty. The bar made excellent drinks...will definitely be back!
The food was very good. Both my wife and I enjoyed our cocktails as well. My wife had the red wine sangria and I had a Moscow mule. Delicious. The penne ala vodka had a bit too much red pepper flakes in the sauce, but it was still very good.
What was disappointing, however, was that we indicated in our reservation that 1) we wanted to sit outside and 2) that we were celebrating our anniversary. Upon arrival, the host immediately took us to an inside table and there were clearly available outdoor tables. We had to say something so we could be reseated outside.
No one said anything about our anniversary - not the host, not the waiter. Nothing was even offered to help us celebrate.
Great cocktail (Moscow Blue), shrimp scampi delectable with plump tender shrimp and amazing garlic butter that was perfect for dipping the crusty bread (more of that would be nice); mimi’s meatballs and eggplant parm top notch. Enjoyed outdoor seating next to the plaza being enjoyed by many families, little girls dancing and so many cute dogs just enjoying a lovely evening.
The staff and wait staff were outstanding and the cocktails were delicious, but the food was average. My grilled eggplant parm was not completely ripe. I could actually still see that some of the skin and inside was green. Definitely not what I expected. Seems like they only grilled it long enough to put the grill marks on it and when I think of parm, I also think of lots of gooey cheese. Not the case here. It was a pleasant experience, because the wait staff was great, but hubby and would probably never go back due to the food.
Very mixed. Terrific buratta and gelato. Eggplant parm undercooked. Service pleasant. Sat outside. Chairs very uncomfortable.
This was a very nice restaurant. Gino the waiter was excellent, very courteous and extremely accommodating. He was very attentive and made our experience that much special. I always appreciate a waiter who is capable of recommending something good from the menu.
The food was overall OK. The pasta was well cooked and full of flavor.
The salami board was delicious, we ordered two of them.
Overall the restaurant was a nice treat for an evening out.
Accommodating outdoor seating. Menu has changed - new offerings but some favorite "oldies" gone. Aperol spritzes tastey and popular. Overall a very nice dining experience.
Staff was accommodating to seat us outside. Amanda our waitress was very attentive. The food was amazing and the overall environment was excellent.
Thank you Daniela!
Been coming here for years. My favorite place for Italian food. Will not be coming back. Extremely disappointed. Used to have free bread; no more. $7 for 4 pieces of garlic bread. Wife and I got the same meals we always get - penne vodka and pasta bolognaise. The former was super spicy and in no way resembled vodka sauce. The latter had different noodles (used to be tagliatelle, now rigatoni) and was super salty. At first I thought the lack of a crowd was just happenstance; now I wonder if word has gotten out.
Hello & thank you for your feedback. Like many restaurants we haven't recovered from the prior year & we are not offering complimentary bread service. You will be pleased to hear that as of last week we have transitioned back to the tagliatelle noodle paired with the Bolognese instead of the homemade rigatoni. If you are unhappy with your dish, whether it be too salty or spicy, our chefs would be happy to prepare another to your liking if you would simply mention it to your server or a manager.
Wonderful happy hour pricing and friendly staff!! Huge Caesar salad was perfect and pasta was incredible. They have outdoor seating on the green if you prefer but we sat inside.
Service was very slow and awkward. The food was great but was expensive.
The music was loud, so we asked them to turn it down, which they did. Two people ordered a pasta based on the menu description, but when the entrees arrived they were slightly different (spicy). The food was still good, but they would not have ordered the items if they knew they were spicy. Waiter did not know the special, which we ordered, or the seasonal dessert ice cream, which we also ordered once we learned what it was.
Food was great, service was helpful. Our waiter explained each dish. Burrata was excellent! A little confusion on pizza toppings - asked for peppers on the side, got peppers on half (one side?) of the pizza. Pizza toppings were a little skimpy. Also, the waiter brought and poured bottled water as soon as we sat down, then brought us a second bottle later. We were never offered tap. Of course we were charged for two bottles of water.
Happy to have an Aperol Spritz! Pastas and salmon very good.
Our first date night after 6 months home with our newborn, and we couldn't be more pleased with our choice of restaurant. Service was thoughtful and attentive, setting us at ease to reminisce about our honeymoon in Tuscany.
Our server, Stuart, was genuinely exceptional. We are not easy customers by any means, we have many in-depth and detailed questions, we moved sections halfway through our meal, and ordered additional dishes to-go, with intricate demands from the kitchen. He handled all of this thoughtfully and with grace and met every strange demand promptly and with a smile. For drinks, I had "The Big Chill" , a gin cocktail which was elegant with delicate flavors the restaurant used a proper cocktail ice cube which prevented the last sip from splashing down with an avalanche of ice. MY husband's sober and was very pleased to see a mocktail menu with essentially a non-alcoholic version of the same cocktail, the "Elderflower Refresher", a name which suited the drink perfectly.
We started with the calamari appetizer from the specials menu, a truly nuanced presentation of squid like I'd never had before. The calamari itself was perfectly poached and tender, and the sauce had just the right amount of spice to leave a lingering freshness. We waved over another server for an additional round of bread to sop up the last bit of the wonderful sauce, and she acquiesced happily and promptly.
For our entree we had the mafalde, a pasta we had never heard of which Stuart aptly described as the edges of lasagna noodles. We chose to add prosciutto which I can't recommend enough. The cream sauce was rich but not overpowering, the truffle was apparent and embellished the perfectly roasted mushrooms which complimented the texture of the unique noodles.
I would readily recommend Alta Strada to anyone looking for a wonderfully presented, accessible, authentic Italian restaurant, for any occasion, formal or casual.
Still out go-to place for whenever we are in need of a great time and amazing food.
this time we had guests from Italy, which we took to show them a spin on their local cuisine -well, they approved with flying colors.
great place, fine food and good service.
Delicious food and excellent customer service!!! Definitely will come back
The food and staff were fantastic!
Quiet there on a Tuesday night. Loved the burrata with fresh cherries! Nice drink selection.
