Alta Strada Foxwoods Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed in the fact that no price was on the menu for adding salmon to a Caesar Salad. Got the bill and it was $35!!! Really???? The salad was only $14 - and quite small. OK, I guess I should have asked but that is just ridiculous. When I inquired with the manager, he said "they charge the price of the salmon entree and the waiter should have told us". Well, he didn't.
Wonderful ambiance, great Thermarest bedding (got a great night's sleep), clean rooms, beautiful lobby, impeccable, friendly service. Close proximity to Foxwoods Casino. Only had time for breakfast which was well prepared and delicious. Would stay again in the future and try the lounge and dinner next time.
Very disappointed. When they seat us we are in a back corner near what appeared to be the linen closet. Then it was awkward because the wait staff stands back there and stares at you. Paid a lot of money for food that we didn't enjoy. My chicken wan't cooked all the way and didn't realize it until i put it in my mouth because the lights are so dim. Our waitress was nice but not very attentive.
We spent Thanksgiving weekend at Foxwoods Casino and chose Alta Strada for dinner before a holiday show. Service was good and food was delivered promptly allowing for a leisurely meal. Portions were large. We split a pear and arugula salad and both ordered Chicken Parmesan. The portion was huge. Fortunately we had a fridge in our hotel room and could get a take away box. We had enough chicken left for two more dinners for two at home. Overall it was good value for money despite being an upscale restaurant. We were seated at a nice quiet banquette and enjoyed a lovely start to our evening.
Very nice welcome at entrance, good service, creative dishes, excellent pasta, good quality olive oil.
Crunchy meatballs, beet salad, tagliatelle, crispy chicken under brick and cavatelli all very good.
Portions are a little small, especially fried calamari and beets.
The dining room could be a little more formal being such a fine restaurant.
Unfortunately the location doesn’t work well for us, we go to the Grand Pequot Casino which is a very long walk away, especially in heels.
But we go to Alta Strada whenever we attend a concert in that hotel.
One of the best restaurants at Foxwoods!
This is one of my favorite restaurants, the food and service are always consistent and top notch. It is hard to find a restaurant that is the same high quality every time, but Alta Strada never disappoints. Their wait staff do a great job of guiding the guest through the menu and dining experience.
My friends and I decided to have dinner before going to a comedy show, we tried an assortment of items from the menu as we always do. The ability to get half portions of the pastas is a really helpful feature since it allows you to try more on the menu. We ordered our usual favorites: the ricotta appetizer, the mushroom mezzeluna, and a prosciutto and arugula pizza. We also were blown away by the burrata appetizer which featured fall flavors of green apple and hazelnut that were a perfect combination. For dessert we enjoyed the Mascaporeos and the Panna Cotta.
Overall, the experience was exactly what we were looking for. Great food, great drinks, and a comfortable space to enjoy the company of those around me. I recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the casino and looking for authentic Italian fare.
Lastly, I would like to commend Alta Strada's GM Lauren. She not only greeted us at the door, but checked in to ensure that our dining experience was enjoyable. That extra level of customer service was greatly appreciated and will not soon be forgotten!
We dined here two nights in a row while staying at Foxwoods. It's a hidden gem tucked away in the Fox Tower. My go-to dish here is the Brick Chicken. The skin is wonderfully crispy and the meat is moist and flavorful. I've tried "brick chicken" at other restaurants and no one has ever come close. Highly recommend this dish. I can't comment on other dishes because I get the same thing every time I visit. Even the bread with wonderful crispy crust and airy center dipped in house made olive oil/spices, is just wonderful.
Special thanks to Chad & his team for helping me plan a spectacular surprise birthday party. The brunch buffet has a wide variety to choose from so there is something for everyone. I couldn’t have been happier with the way everything turned out.
The chicken parmigiana was delicious and also a very generous portion. The cheeseburger was also delicious. The wait staff was courteous, polite and right on top of their game. My water glass never went below 1/2 full. I would go back again if the chance arose.
Our server was completely overwhelmed or incapable . Our order was taken by another server who was GREAT because our server was busy . I am certain if she remained our server this review would be different. I am unsure how the management can allow service to get so bad that we couldn't order a second beverage because our waiter was nowhere to be found .
Meh. Definitely no bang for the buck with overpriced average to below average food. Shrimp cocktail was awful. We rarely send anything back but we had no choice with this one. The shrimp was overcooked, chewy, and had a fishy (bad "fishy", not clean, fresh "fishy") smell and taste. My guess, it was cooked Thursday or Friday night (we were there at 9 PM Saturday) and sat in the fridge for 24+ hours. We sent it back but we were still charged for it initially. The waitress did catch it on her own, I think, but why wasn't it taken off the check immediately? She also said the manager would come over but we never saw her/him. Moving on, the crunchy eggplant was pretty good, as was the bread. For the entrees, the salmon was ok, very plain and very small serving for $35. The white bean side was bland and felt like an afterthought. Almost as if they wanted to put the salmon on top of something and the cheapest thing they had were white beans so they added a little basil to give it a little color. The maltagliati with spicy pork ragu was decent but as with everything, the flavor was one note and it would have benefitted from some actual spice/heat and/or fresh basil or something. Some of the pasta was stuck together as if it had been cooked a while before the dish was prepared. I'm not talking about one or two noodles: big clumps of it. For an "upscale" place, the experience/food wasn't refined, i.e., everything needed salt, we never got plates for our appetizers and we had to use our small bread plates, and our appetizers showed up before our drinks (a couple sodas). Speaking of drinks, the prices are absurd, even for soda - $3.50 in a weird, tiny, thin glass with maybe 6 or 8 oz. and no free refills. Add it all up and you get the "I wish we had just gone for burgers or pizza somewhere else" feeling walking out the door.
We have eaten at Alta Strada many times and it never fails to impress. From the outstanding crusty bread in the beginning to an always amazing desert. My wife had their Mushroom ravioli which is our ALL time favorite there, the pasta is home made and the truffle sauce is to die for. I had one of the new dishes on the menu, a veal dish and the presentation was amazing with smoked prosciutto and served over the most amazing "pasta"(which it was not, almost a cous-cous) --was not expecting that presentation, the veal was sliced relatively thick and served over the "pasta" and had grilled asparagus -- terrific -- I did not leave a bite! -- Our server Mason, was very polite and I told him we like to "graze" and gave us time to enjoy the fine cocktails and wine and each course -- we will be back soon!
We have been here several times in the past and enjoyed our meal and service. This may be the last time we go here. Service was terrible, our waitress seemed to be more interested in what was going on at the bar. This was a Thursday night, so service should have been on pointe.
Our food was sub par, came out late, was not hot, and dropped at our table without a word spoken. Big disappointment, they were out of the Calimari appetizer. This is New England, several miles from Mystic and Narraganset R.I. ...no Calimari !!
In my opinion the management, ownership, has lost interest in this establishment.
Paid way too much for what was received !
