We sat outside on the patio, which was great. It seemed a little dark inside, especially given that it was a nice sunny day. I guess that's what happens when you turn a warehouse into a restaurant--you lack windows. We both enjoyed our meal and would come back.
The wine by the glass is expensive for the size pour they give you.
Great food and service, we will definitely be back and recommend it without hesitation. We had the special hamburger and it was one of the best ever; a lifetime top 5 .
Aloi is promising but unfortunately we ran into a large group that lingered which caused our seating to be late. Not a big deal really and the manager gave us some complimentary appetizers. They were good. We had petite sirloin, lamb and a clam pasta dish. The sirloin was mediocre. The lamb was very good although one of our party did not receive his until after everyone was halfway through. The pasta dish was interesting. Very eggy and some liked it, others did not. We ordered two bottles of wine, at different times. The second bottle came late, after most had finished their meal. I think the service could improve overall. The food is creative but could use some refinement.
Our dinner was absolutely delicious, best duck I’ve had in a long time!
Wonderful food and great service made this an amazing experience. So nice to have such a restaurant in Richmond.
We were visiting friend here in Richmond and decided to go to Scott’s Addision. We made reservation at Aloi and so glad we did!
We started with the roasted cauliflower and green curry mussels. Both were outstanding, especially the sauces. For dinner we each chose a meat dish, again the souses were magnificent. We’ll be back!
Excellent food and service. We will definitely be back and recommend Aloi to our friends.
The flavors here is what shine through. Atmosphere is comfortable and modern without being fussy. Our server was very knowledgeable and didn’t need to ask the chef or consult notes when we asked questions which is unique. The menu is well thought out and the dishes avoid a lot of unnecessary frills. Flavors shine through and ingredients are used simply but in some very unique ways that really work. The wine list is extensive without being overwhelming and the cocktails are almost worth a return visit alone. The three couples we surveyed including mine all spent over $200 (including 20% gratuity) for the evening having cocktails, starter course, a main course, bottle of wine and dessert. The cost puts Aloi in a category of special occasions/experience restaurants and in that category it is really a stand out.
We all thought the food at Aloi was delicious and very creative. We appreciated the fact that they had a great vegetarian entrée that was not dependent on pasta. The first course offerings were huge and could have served as entrees themselves. The only criticism we had is that the service was a bit slow. It took a very long time for the entrees to be served after we had finished the first course and that can result in your no longer being very hungry. The servers were all very polite and accomodating. We certainly will go back.
We tried out Aloi for the first time for our anniversary dinner and it was a lovely experience from start to finish. Our server was wonderful and did a great job the whole night with recommendations, the right level of conversation, and overall service. The food came out quickly and in the appropriate order based on the dish. The food itself was great - very flavorful, well cooked, and distinctly different dishes from one another. We had the cauliflower, mussels, bone marrow beignets, and the special burger they offered that night. Everything was genuinely delicious and I would order each of them again - was hands down some of the tastiest food we've had in Richmond. They also gave us glasses of bubbles for our anniversary which was just the icing on the cake. Great experience all around and we look forward to visiting again.
Went here with size friends... everyone raved about the food and the cocktails! Try the mussels
Definitely for the foodie, Aloi's food was delicious and the service was very good. The server was a little busy so it wasn't perfect but it was darn close. We came for an anniversary dinner and had a lovely time!
Great staff, very attentive, for a casual fine dining this hit every note. From ambiance to plating and wine pairings this made for quite the evening. Will be back to dine again soon.
Delicious. Will go back soon!!
The food, service and ambiance were terrific. Thank you for a wonderful evening. We’ll be back soon!
Creative drinks that taste great. Love the buffalo cauliflower app too.
We had a lovely experience with fantastic food and great service.
The restaurant was beautiful and the food was delicious!
A small menu but all our dishes were good. Good cocktail program. Service was a little slow and impersonal. Nothing specific with the server to fault but something was off.
We had a wonderful dinner on our trip to Richmond. Maybe the best we’ve had in 35 years of annual visits. Great food. We especially liked the duck confit and the bone marrow beignets. All the entries were delicious. And a special unexpected treat was a Sunday wine discount! Highly recommend this place. Nearly all of our Richmond family and friends had not heard of it. It was a bit loud for the older among us but we still loved it and will return.
excellent food; great presentation; nice discussion by chef as tableside; good service. recommend to all
Food, service, ambiance were all fabulous! We’ll be back again and again!
One of the better meals in recent memory about town. Worth it. Interesting ingredients, knowledgeable staff, and great cocktails.
The food was delicious, we used a spoon to slurp up the broth from the mussels it was so good. I had the monkfish, and it was perfect, a little crust on the one side and succulent beyond that. The kale and potatoes were the perfect sides. The white/dark brownie dessert with the maraschino cherry sauce was so good, I ate it even though I was full. I haven't even mentioned the cocktails, the Uncle ACE is the best. You will definitely enjoy your meal here.
Food was amazing. The chef came to our table for an informative discussion about the menu. We look forward to returning to Aloi soon.
The food was amazing! You can't miss trying the cauliflower appetizer...it was the best~ P
I would highly recommend Aloi, though expensive. That being said, they buy high quality meats and seafood and it's obvious in taste and presentation. Original recipes and specials were all delicious, as were the wines and beers. Everyone from the hostess, butcher and server were extremely nice and helpful. I'll definitely go back on special occasions.
Very good food, I would go back! The drinks were amazing😍
Very minimal menu choices
The food, from the mushroom pate to the spiced lamb, was all excellent!
The cauliflower appetizer was amazing and the service was top notch!
intriguing space. Short menu and short wine list but all meals were very good.
Our meal was perfectly delicious! It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The My, My Myer cocktail was delicious! My only complaint would be the noise level, but that would not keep me away. Hard to control that with a place this size.
The food was excellent but the noise level eventually got so loud it was hard to talk.
Our favorite spot. We come frequently and always enjoy everything.
Experience was mediocre. Food was good, not great, and our group tried 4 different entrees. Waitress seemed better suited for a late night diner than this place, left plenty to be desired. This restaurant had been really hyped up and just fell flat. With so many other restaurants around, I wouldn’t go back.
Great first trip. The cauliflower starter was awesome.
We just enjoyed another delicious meal at Aloi. There were four of us dinning and we enjoyed our individual choices very much. The Monkfish, steak and scallops were all cooked just right and the sides were delicious. The Crispy Cauliflower appetizer was especially good. Aloi never disappoints.
