Alley Cat Oyster Bar
Very hip dining experience in an even more hip area of town right on the rivers edge in the East End Flats section. The restaurant itself had a great ambiance with an amazing wait staff that did not give us a chance to be disappointed. The multiple people that check on us or served us was refreshing and really gave us the impression they valued the customer experience. The food was equally impressive with each dish we ordered worth ordering again in the future. Once my wife and I were finished we thought we were ready to leave but got sidetracked in conversation with the 2 male bartenders. They were such a pleasure to chat with we sat down and spent another hour or so having drinks and inquire about the area and sharing some of our travel stories. Aka in all this was a great evening with nothing to complain about what so ever. We truly look forward to doing it again on our next trip to the city.
Great food, great service, great setting on the Cuyahoga River! Highly recommend
Went for my grandfathers birthday and the food was outstanding! Very pleased with the menu selection service and food.
Great location on the river. Service excellent. Tuna and beef really good. Not a fan of the potato tots. Steak tasty & tender but overcooked.
It was a Birthday Dinner celebration. We got the calamari to begin which was fantastic. Then I got the Seafood Quesadilla for dinner and my fiancé got the Ahi Tuna dish. She said hers was cold which we didn’t know if it came like that, but she said it was still very good! My quesadilla was a little difficult to eat, but overall really tasteful! We ate right on the waterfront which has a great view of the water and surrounding restaurants/bridges of the Flats of Cleveland.
Great place for dining on the water. Extensive wine list.
My wife and daughter both had the trout and were very dissatisfied. The trout certainly was not fresh and had a slight smell to it. This was expressed to the waiter and he made no effort toward a service recovery. My salmon was excellent but the sides were cool to cold. Overall a poor dining experience
The food was delicious, the ambiance lively - we loved how the 'team' kept the table clear of used plates and glasses (sweeping in and out without interfering with our conversations) well done!
Everything about our dinner was lovely. The oysters were so fresh and delicious. Our server was informative, efficient and friendly. We all loved our entrees. Watching the activity on the river was fun. The only down side was the dessert, didn’t care for it. We will definitely be back.
We took my mother there for her birthday and was a little disappointed. The fruit flies ruined our wine and the only resolution the restaurant gave was coasters to put over the glass. Not even new glasses where the fruit flies had already drowned and made a bath in our glasses. The food was okay but not worth the prices they charge. The lobster mac was just okay. I had this trout dish that was very confusing with the ingredients they placed with it and it just really didn't work. The only plus was the mussels my mother ordered. Service was not the best as we had to flag down our waiter a couple times to refill our beverages. I probably not going back by choice but will if I had friends that wanted to go there for some reason.
The staff couldn’t have been more attentive and personable.
we really enjoyed our time at the alley cat. the view sitting outside on the patio was awesome. service was great. our server was very personable and we enjoyed chatting with him. he was efficient and timely as well. my eight year old son even enjoyed it..i wasnt sure if he'd find something on the menu, but they did have stuff for kids, just have to ask. the food was good, as was the wine and beer selection. id definately go there again!
Outstanding in every way. Food was amazing (best oysters in a long time, and all items were perfectly prepared and presented - peppers, Mac and cheese (wonderful), salmon and chili braised beef.
Location - gorgeous setting. Service - Derek was superb.
Had a great time. Kind of evening at you want to be along the river.
Sat outside. Food was great which I expect from Zack’s places
Always feel welcome. Had the trout which was outstanding and had to try a mixture of Oysters
Had a fun waiter, which always make dining a good experience
We had a cocktail and oysters at the upstairs patio bar and had dinner on the ground floor patio. Enjoyed oysters and the smoked fish dip.
All 4 of us enjoyed our dinners.
Always have loved this place. I am writing because after getting the lobster roll at least 30 times, today instead of having a poached beautiful solid piece of lobster it was shredded? A piece of solid claw was mixed in but VERY disappointed. If it was an off night I would understand But I am concerned this is the new way of serving it. That would not be acceptable.
We went here for our anniversary and it was wonderful! Good food, good service and we really enjoyed our table overlooking the river!
The food was perfect and our waiter was wonderful. Made for a great birthday celebration!
Service was very slow and server took a long time between visits to our table. Food was fair and not worth the price. Location and river view from our table were fantastic. Very disappointing the great view was spoiled by the meal.
Great all the way around.
Great food, great service! Vincent the waiter is a treasure!
A great introduction to Cleveland! Our server was friendly, professional and attentive. Food tasty as described. Oysters were fresh and delicious.
My first time there and the food was amazing! Would definitely go back and recommend
Food was just not that good. I had heard great things about this restaurant. Maybe we hit them on an off day.
Excellent service and food. Manager was so friendly too.
The Scallops and Baked Alaska were outstanding and the service was excellent both at the table and the bar! Definitely would recommend and will be visiting myself again!
Overall, our dining experience at Alley Cat was very good. It was a somewhat chilly night and the doors to the patio were all open, resulting in a rather uncomfortable experience for those of us who didn't have sweaters. The food, especially the appetizers, was outstanding, except for my daughter's seafood quesadilla, which wasn't particularly to her tastes. The restaurant's setting is always delightful - sitting by the windows, watching the boat traffic go by and seeing the sunset over the lake. All in all, it remains one of our favorite restaurants in Cleveland.
The view was beautiful by the lake and the food was fabulous too! I can't wait to go back again!
Wonderful location, had very good service and the food was excellent. A bit pricey, but the view is wonderful and the summer breeze is great throughout the restaurant. Love coming here.
Exceptional food with attentive and friendly wait staff. Seated with a view of the water a little noisy but a great place to dine and we most definitely recommend it.
My first visit was positive so I wanted to try Alley Cat again. I always enjoy the views of the lake. I wanted whole fish which is no longer on the menu. I regret ordering the crab leg entree. My crab legs were dry and not good. Once I return home I suffered a bad gastrointestinal side effect of my meal. I will never return to Alley Cat.
DocDiane, I am very sorry to hear about your experience with us on Saturday and I appreciate your feedback. Was there early for “Happy Hour” which they were not having on Labor Day weekend which was not advised anywhere and after paying $10 to park, we were very disappointed. Also, it was a 75th birthday celebration that we were advised they would put a candle in any purchased dessert...we spent some money so disappointed in both of these things. Had the Ahi Tuna and asked if I could have it prepared with sesame seeds and ginger slices and was told I could have it anyway I wanted and it came for $32 the way it was offered on the menu only so staff was not knowledgeable or did not care. Disappointed as we are from Ohio and visiting for this birthday 🤐☹️
I was hoping to be blown away but just wasn’t. The food was average at best. The oysters were fresh, nothing exciting there. My seafood quesadilla was weird - no cheese, no sauce and the mix of seafood was a bit odd. One triangle had squid, one had shrimp and one had I am not sure, maybe fish but there were occasional bites of fishiness with black beans and veggies. My husband’s wedge salad was really boring! But his shrimp stuffed peppers had amazing flavor. The one great thing was the location.
Alley Cats one of our favorite places. We always have a wonderful time there. Just like everything about the place.
Staff are always pleasant, helpful and sharp.
Food is delicious.
Views are great.
If you like people watching the clientele are definitely interesting!
Comfortable, great view, delicious.
We had a great meal. Food was delicious. Service was attentive without being overbearing. We look forward to coming back.
Service was excellent!!
Food was ok for the price. Not a great value. Atmosphere was good so maybe that's why we thought it was overpriced.
