This restaurant was amazing. The atmosphere is great. I would definitely recommend to try and reserve the lemon room instead of being in the restaurant. The lemon room has more of an ambience and great feel for embracing the restaurant as a whole. The food was great and the service as well :)
We went to celebrate a college graduation and it was a wonderful time! The food was amazing and the service was great!
The food was amazing and the service was even better. The staff made us very comfortable even with my kids there. We were very impressed and so grateful that they were so accommodating. I highly suggest trying this place out
got the reservation on open table. they sat us in the bar lounge area. tables were weird to eat at. very cool looking place. beer was flat clearly didn't have it hooked up to the correct CO2... i got the scrimp and scalp pasta. it was cheap frozen seafood. not something you would expect from a place a few blocks from the ocean... its a cool looking place.. food is god awful. stop at the bar and have a drink while you find a better restaurant near by.
Very good food & service but make sure you have a reservation because they are very busy.
Made reservations because we had heard great things. We were wrong. The ambiance was overly loud. We couldn’t even hear each other. Had to resort to yelling. Our waiter didn’t even refill our water we had to keep reminding him. His next table was within inches from us but made sure they were attended to. He never even offered us dessert. At this point we just wanted to leave. He’s lucky he got tipped. Never returning. Waste of money.
We split a few dishes, apps and wine and everything we had was absolutely delicious. Service was fantastic, also. Will be back!
The restaurant wasn't clean. Chair and table wasn't clean enough.
Entertaining out of town guests!
Great venue … loved the outdoor seating .
Great appetizers , food and yummy cocktails
Service was great !!
Perfect girls night out in the lemon room. The food was incredible and the cocktails were tasty! Notable dishes: ricotta gnocchi, sea bass, stuffed blossoms.
Beautiful restaurant, I had been here twice before and decided to take my date here and he loved it.
I never got our servers name but his manners were spot on! Left him a $20 tip for his good service and he was very attentive towards us.
Excellent service, ambiance and food! We will definitely go back>
From the hostess that greeted us to the wonderful waits and buss girl it was the best experience perfection! Food was delicious fun sitting outside!
Great service and food. We enjoyed our lovely outside table as well. We'll be back!
I was so pleased with my first visit! Amazed that it opened during Covid, I can’t imagine it won’t be a huge success. Our waiter Guiseppe from Napoli was engaging (& cute!) and the food was fabulous! In Little Italy, where most restaurants are nothing special, Allegro is an A+!
Excellent food, service, and ambiance! Would definitely recommend!
I had very high expectations with all the hype on social media but unfortunately was not that impressed with the food.
We sat at the bar and was taken care of by Joseph. They have a great wine selection, as well as food offerings (they have GF options too btw). We decided to order the zucchini blossoms, pork chops, sea bass, and chocolate lava cake for dessert. We also ordered a cup of brewed coffee which was surprisingly very good (strong and bold). We'd come back here just for the coffee alone!
Overall a memorable enjoyable experience, we’re glad we came here for our days night. We’ll visit Allegro again to try their other dishes (and wines)!
Terrible food, have been twice to give it another chance it the food was subpar at best. I’ve recommended this place to so many people and they all say the same thing, terrible food and horrible drinks. Will not be returning.
Every item ordered was disappointing. Its also expensive. The seating on the patio - while charming with lemons hanging from the ceiling, was super uncomfortable. The bench seating forces one to sit uncomfortably, erect. Great for posture, but not great for dining.
The food. Unimpressive. We ordered the zucchini blossoms and calamari to start - super underwhelming. Then pastas - duck ragu pappardelle, orecchiette y salsiccia, and gnocchi caccio y pepe. All were over salted yet lacked flavor. Two pastas were almost (I'm sad to say) inedible. Service was barely attentive - not much personality or quality interaction. We didn't finish our meals, box them up or order dessert.
The food at Allegro was delicious but a little overpriced. We have been to other restaurants that are owned by this family and have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. What stood out the most about places like RustiCucina was the service and how friendly everyone was. The true essence of a family-owned restaurant was evident from the beginning. At Allegro, it was the exact opposite. For most of our meal, there were only two other parties being served. As mentioned, the food tasted great but we had to hunt down our waiter, who was hanging out at the front mostly, each time we needed a beverage refilled. After the runner brought out our courses, we never heard from our waiter until I asked for the bill. Nobody ever checked to see how the food was. Nobody offered us a dessert menu. Even the bill was not correct as the waiter charged the wrong beer that was more expensive than the one we had. Sadly, we will most likely not go back to Allegro in the future.
Allegro was a lovely experience. Patrick, our waiter, was quick, efficient and knowledgeable, but not intrusive. Everything we ordered (seafood salad, fried squash blossoms with fig sauce, pork chop and the truffle gnocchi) were absolutely delicious. Ordered the limoncello cake and a cannoli for dessert, though we didn't think we had room - but we made room! Eating outside (basically in a booth on the street) wasn't ideal, but the fireplace candle was lovely, and added a nice touch. My husband, who is Sicilian, wanted to eat there for the de3licous Sicilian salad, but we loved everything!!
Service was horrible! Manager apologized explaining limited staff due to pandemic but our waiter was the worst. Literally saw him sitting with other guests at other tables; hardly came to us. Ordered wine and when he brought them spilled them on table but only after taking mask off and smelling each one to see which wine was which!!! Trust I understand being short staffed and busy as I worked in service but the service we got was inexcusable!
Vibrant and lively. We met Shaun White and his friends there. Bone marrow and filet was great👌🏼
They had a few menu items that weren’t available like the pasta on the wheel of cheese, a few appetizers and several cocktails were not available as well.
Honestly the whole dinner was a fail. I made my reservation weeks prior for a specific table. I know that it’s never for sure but I called 3 hours before on the day of and they CONFIRMED that we had the table I requested. We show up and our table is taken and there is nothing available. We get sat 25 minutes later at a outside patio block. The manager working the door who said she would “take care of us” for the mistake never showed back up. Our waiter was nice but pretty suspect bringing the wrong items (higher price point wine than we ordered multiple times). 2 people in our party never got their food (a pasta and a steak). We didn’t get 2 side dishes but were charged for them as well as one of the missing food. They said they were going to give a discount (ended up being like 10% discount) but after they charged my card I noticed it wasn’t there so had to chase down the waiter in the kitchen to fix it. Overall a mess. Will not go back and don’t recommend going with a large party (we had 10 people) or on a weekend.
It was our last day in San Diego and we wanted a special night out. We were seated in the lemon patio and it was cute with an arbor of lemons above. However that’s where our positive experience ended. We sat there for 25 minutes with our menus and wine lists we got from the host. However, not a single person greeted us after we were seated nor were we even approached at our table. It’s like we were invisible. We were totally ignored even though servers and waiters passed by our table over and over again. We decided to just walk out and before we did, we spoke to the only person who talked to us that evening, the very kind and polite host, who originally seated us. We thanked him for his kindness for seating us in the lemon patio but then explained our experience and said we were sorry but had decided to leave based on total neglect that evening on part of the restaurant staff. I know it was busy for a Thursday night but not a single attention was given to us. I have never written a review like this before.
Drinks and service were great. The food was average.
Staff was great, ambiance nice with decor and outside with heaters and feeling as if you are in italy.
Calamari tasted great, meaty and tender.
Drinks were good, but can be a little less in cost.
Duck Ragu Parpadelle was good. It’s hearty dish. It’s boneless, and the pasta is so fresh and savory with its spices and sauce.
My friends ordered the dish that has sausage and Orrieciete pasta. They couldn’t stop eating it. It was so good.
Everything that we ordered to eat was fresh tasting and we would go back to try other dishes.
This was our first experience dining here! We were very happy we made reservations as it was very busy and lively in little Italy last night! We were seated at a banquet outside with a personal fire pit in the middle which made the ambiance! Our waitress was amazing, she took care of all our needs and was very attentive! The food was very good, we had cheese plate to start which contained the most amazing sharp cheddar cheese as well as 2 others!! We had a couldn’t of cocktails that contained a wedge of cheese- omgA what an experience ! Dinner was steaks, which were well cooked to our liking, as well as orecchiette pasta, delish, and the big eye tuna(a little undercooked for my liking) but very tasty. Ended off with lemon cello cake that was light as a feather!! We will for sure be back to try something else and to have another wonderful evening at this establishment!
Service was terrible, food was not good at all ! I had the the sea bass, it was over cooked and was bland.
This was our first visit.
Our server was great.
However the food was mediocre and it took forever to get our main course.
Papparadelle sauce was watery and tasteless.
The zucchini flowers were fried with a thick crust which took away from the flavor of the vegetable.
With so many other choices of places to eat in Little Italy we won’t be returning to Allegro.
We sat outside in the street converted seating. It was awesome. Not too cold - the heaters were on and there was a mini fireplace at our table. The food was great and so were drinks
Food was just ok and the service was fine
Food great and service attentive. No parking, near by paid lots ($18-$20/night)
I took my family here when they were in town this past week on their last night and it was the PERFECT way to close their trip. All the staff were extremely courteous, quick, and super charming. The restaurant has a great ambience, is lively, and is decorated very beautifully with lemons hanging from the ceiling creating a very Italian vibe. So glad this restaurant has opened up in Little Italy and cannot wait to continue going! Highly recommend getting the zucchini poppers to start and the Parmesan Wheel or Fig Ravioli to finish!
Olga, our server was outstanding. Definently will come back and recommend Allegro. Lobster Cannelloni was excellent!
The service is amazing and the food is always delicious! Highly recommend Allegro.
Dined for dinner on Friday, May 14th, 2021
Outstanding service. Our server was Marija. The team, as a whole worked very well together, and each person was down to earth and pleasant.
Crab cake appetizer: Very Good.
Fig Ravioli: Excellent
Bucatini Carbonara: Excellent
Limoncello Sponge cake: Very good especially with limoncello to sip on.
Pistachio mousse: Very good
Overall: An excellent dining experience, and we are going back for dinner two days later!
Only downside was the location of our table for two which was just inside the lemon room. The floor is sloped there so my husband’s chair kept sliding downslope.
