About
Incredible food! Acqua pazza, scallop crudo and crispy polenta with baccala and salmon roe were favorites. Also puffy masa with prosciutto and truffle butter. Hmmmm!
Exceptional food. Wonderful service. A jewel of a restaurant - one of my favorites in LA.
One of my favorite restaurants in all of Los Angeles. Consistently amazing food, subtle rustic profiles and a great wine list to boot. The perfect place to remember what going out to eat is all about: community.
Nice little spot in Silver Lake! Delicious chop salad, good pastas but not exceptional. Lovely intimate spot, just know it’s noisy.
The tortellini is to die for. Worth making a trip just for that
We had a wonderful brunch here over the weekend. Papas bravas, eggs benedict, apple torte with zabaglione and donut holes, all very well done, and uniquely done. Will definitely come back!
Alimento is one of my favorite more high end restaurants in Los Angeles. The food is great, as is the service, and I love that it has the feel of a neighborhood restaurant while also a place for special occasions!
I frequently recommend Alimento to friends and coworkers, and will keep coming back myself.
My wife and I drive forty miles to have dinner at Alimento as often as possible. The food is consistently outstanding and prepared to our liking with subtle changes. Every time we order the Orata, as there is nothing like it and the way it is prepared moist with such an unctuous smokey flavor. All of the pastas are prepared properly and also outstanding. This visit we had the Lumache with duck sausage and we usually begin our meal with the radicchio caesar. Always a treat and always a friendly welcoming from Heather and the staff.
Every single thing we ordered was downright delicious. Even on the second day of service, Alimento is already nailing brunch.
Great service!
My only objection was they want you to order all of your dinner at once, then they'll bring it out accordingly.
The octopus, radicchio Caesar and ornate were outstanding. Food is consistently great as is service. Inside can be noisy. Best to get an outside table.
Absolutely delectable dining though the din was a bit much by the time we wrapped up.
Every dish in the 7 items ordered was stellar. The crouton with chicken liver and mortared is a sensual crowd pleaser and served all 4 of us nicely. One of our favorites this time was the Aqua Pazza (or something like that - lovely shrimp, large scallops and clams in a tomato saffron sauce/broth with a saffron aioli toast.....divine. The pastas are always perfection. We had duck merguez sausage pasta and ratiatorre with pork sugo. Cornmeal upside down cake with citrus and a dollop of tangy cream was a great finish to a much enjoyed shared meal. Go!
I used to think this place had the absolute best food. But it has gotten to the point that the food might not be worth all the hassle of their approach to table service. As I've put in other reviews, they seem not to have a very equitable understanding of what the kitchen does, what staff does well, and what clients should feel comfortable asking for. This last visit, we asked for the breadcrumbs on the side. The server said that sounded good, but she'd have to ask. Then she came back and said the option we were being provided was a ground chickpea on the dish, not breadcrumbs on the side. But I eat breadcrumbs. I love breadcrumbs. It's my loser partner who doesn't eat gluten. Why can't we have the dish and I put some breadcrumbs on mine? Nope. That's not an option. Just as last time when I couldn't have extra peppers for my white bean soup. Just a few? I'll pay. Nope. Not an option. And when we wanted to place our order we were told we had to place the entire order. But we didn't know how how hungry we'd be. Nope. You have to place the entire meal at once or they won't take the order. We over ordered. They made more money. Hmmm, seems fishy? It is. I asked the server what she thought of a dish. She had never tried it. What? The restaurant didn't allow their staff to try their dishes while being trained? They keep insisting they suggest everyone share. But that's not possible with dietary restrictions while also following their crazy rules. It's a shame that some of the dishes are perhaps my favorite in LA: the Brussel Sprouts, the white bean soup, the caesar, all incredible senses of texture and tastes. But I'm tired of yelling for two hours to be heard by my guests because this place can't put noise dampeners around the room. And the "rules" for eating here are, well, tiring. It's great food; but slowly not becoming worth it. I used to run a restaurant consulting company. This place needs a whole top-down, "culture," revamp, in my personal opinion.
Mr. Shorter, thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. It is very clear that we did not uphold our standards of service & for that I truly apologize. I will be speaking to our staff about how/where we failed. I also want you to know that these modifications are possible & it's unacceptable we couldn't accommodate. If you would have us, I would love to host you & a guest back to show you the kind of service we strive for- including complimentary bubbly & apps! heather@alimetola.co m
Food was fantastic. A nice neighborhood spot..
Too loud could use dampening
Incredible food. Very inspired.
Great scenery. Good food. Staff 5 stars!
Lacks dairy free alternatives
Would absolutely recommend
Very fine in all respects, perhaps ordered one main dish too many. Waiter mysteriously disappeared about half-way through the dinner, never saw him again, a woman we'd not previously seen just sort of took over. Odd. Keen to return.
We loved it so much went twice in a week
Fantastic!
Ok, so I am a chef/restaurant owner myself and was trying to find a great spot for dinner in LA, something that was creative, forward thinking, not stuffy, no attitude with the skill set, discipline and drive to push boundaries. This place crushed it! Everything was spot on perfect and all the flavors kept on developing throughout the meal. There was three of us so we went 3 “small” plates, 3 “medium” plates, and three “pasta”. The amount was perfect. The Chicken Liver Crostone! So smooth, perfectly done with quince Mostarda, was so well done. Scallop crudo with yuzu Kosho delicate and spectacular, braised greens bruschetta with Parmesan broth was peasant food that died and went to heaven, so simple so amazingly soul warming, Ricotta dumpling with lamb consumee perfect, wish I could eat this after a day of skiing! And the pasta..the gnoc with oxtail again soul warming, so good! The Agnolloti, ricotta, spring peas and mint..total perfection and there signature Tortellini in Brodo with Parmesan Beurre was explosive and delicious! Honestly one of the best meals in a long long time! Nice work chef and the entire staff, service was perfect, polite, knowledgeable and simple, a perfect combination. So your self a favor and book a table and another a couple weeks out, menu is big enough you will count the days till you can go back and try everything you missed the first round!
I love the Tortellini Contradicto I order it every time I come it is similar to a Soup Dumpling but so much better the coating of cream makes it a great dish We also had scallop crudo, pork meatballs, shrimp and clams, and a few others we were stuffed Great meal as always
Thank you!!!! Glad to hear you enjoyed everything :)
We live in West Hollywood and we initially thought going to Alimento was a little to far away.
It was not.
When I initially looked at the menu, I was mildly confused as what to order.
Once we made a decision
The Food was absolutely delicious
The Service was fast and flawless
The Restaurant is small, but has a nice indoor/ outdoor ambience
Loved the area
Loved Alimento
Would definitely go back soon.
Thank you, Joe, for all the kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed your time with us... Hope to see you again soon!
This place is always solid. New wine list is great. If there’s a downside it’s the noise level (if you’re over 50).
Thank you for the love and support!
Love it! Always consistent and delicious!
Thank you so much for the love and support!
We were warmly greeted when we arrived for our reservation. Each of the three dishes we had was some of the best food we have had anywhere. The pork belly was outstanding, and the whole orata was better than any of the same fish I had on multiple occasions in Sicily. A true neighborhood gem with excellent service. Highly recommended.
Woah! Mary, thank you for the kind words! We hope to have you back again soon :)
A very imaginative and delicious menu. We’ve been twice lately and we’re delighted both times.
Second time the service was initially a tad unfriendly, but they warmed up. We’re in our late 60’s - a little noisy.
We’d return in a heartbeat!
Thank you for the support, Gillian, and as for the feedback, I will surely be passing along to our staff so we can be that much better! Hope to have you back soon!
This was my 3rd time at Alimento. First two were amazing. This time, the server only stopped by our table to take the order + leave the check. The spaghetti with crab was fishy and salty, you could hardly taste the crab. The ricotta dumpling in consume was amazing as always.
Hi, Joe! Thank you for your feedback, and I am sorry that your experience was anything less than wonderful. It is clear we missed the mark, and again, I am truly sorry. We can only get better with feedback like this, and I will make sure to communicate to our staff where the opportunities for improvement are. We would obviously love to have you and your guest back for complementary bubbly, and to have the kind of service we strive for! heather@alimentola.co m
Our server Alex was incredible! Everything we had to eat was phenomenal. Bravo to the chef.
I had read about Alimento, so when I was in the L.A. area, wanted to visit. 4 of us from various areas met, and we had a wonderful meal. Everything exceeded expectations!
Love this place.
Very adorable venue with great service and good food, love the amount of variety on the menu.
Thank you, Jess!!!!! Hope to have you back again!
One is the type of service we got was not the best been to other places less expensive and better service. Secondly you are been rushed they seat you down and tell you have 1:30 min to eat cause table is booked at nine and we made reservations for 7:30 also the way you order it has to be all at once you can’t order anything as we go. And third as it was approaching nine aclock they took the menus away and said we are getting closer to nine aclock so we will need the table. Food was good I can’t say anything bad about it but service and time thing. Aaa bad I never been to a place with a time schedule that you need to be out by certain time.
We love our favorites on the menu - we dine here 3-4 times a year. Friendly, convivial staff. Never disappointed.
Thank you for the love and support! Hope to have you back soon! :)
Love this neighborhood restaurant. The food is delicious and the wine list is outstanding!
Thank you, Meg! Hope to see you soon!
Amazing. Great food and excellent ambiance
great food in an cozy, intimate, neighborhood location.
Thank you, Jesse! Hope to have you back again.
Incredible grilled Orato! Chopped salad, tortellini, and ribs were excellent! Service was attentive and prompt, wine recommendation was right on, choc pudding was divine! Would come back in a heartbeat!
The spelt pasta was especially tasty. The wine list was great too.
