Located at 40 Brattle Street in Harvard Square, Alden & Harlow serves thoughtfully sourced, honest American food in a subterranean, modern and comfortable space. Replicating the style of cooking he does for family and friends in his home kitchen, Chef Michael Scelfo prepares humble, unpretentious food that honors tradition of place in its quality. It's how he connects with anyone who joins them at their table.

While reservations are strongly suggested, we also save a portion of the dining room and bar for walk-ins in the event that your request cannot be accommodated. So please, come on in!

                                                            It was amazing from start to finish. Was visiting my son in Boston from NY. If this restaurant were in my neighborhood, I would be there frequently! Loved it there!

                                                            We ate brunch outside and it was really good. I would highly recommend for brunch and sitting outside. I can't speak to dinner and inside.

We waited over 20minutes for our NY Strip to arrive -- seems like the order was overlooked in the kitchen and the waitress had to chase it down for us... unfortunately and I had to eat alone, or else my main course would have gotten cold...good company is never wasted.

Dishes are intended to be shared but unlike typical tapas, the portions are generous and left you full without breaking the bank. Also, dishes came out one after another rather than all at once so you could enjoy them without feeling rushed. Food was very good and great value for the price, and there's an extensive drink menu of cocktails, mocktails, wine and beer. It was the perfect spot for a birthday celebration and I'll definitely be back!

                                                            Alden and Harlow is an amazing place with uniquely styled food and ambience at Harvard Square. It is one of my favorite restaurants in the metropolitan Boston area and I love coming here to eat anytime I am in Cambridge. The ‘secret burger’ is my favorite but there are so many great options. All delicious!

                                                            Had a fantastic table in the back corner. Service was excellent. They made an excellent Vieux Carré. My friend had some orange colored wine. Steak tartare was good, not great. Duck confit pierogi were delicious. Seared bluefin was amazing. My monster sized raspberry macaron was yummy. Her Key lime thingy had issues, but we are both eager to return.
