ALC Steaks (Austin Land & Cattle)
Was absolutely delicious!
Food was okay, service was awesome. deserts were great
Dinner and service were just what we wanted for our out of town guests. ALC never disappoints
One of, if not the best steaks in Austin. The Shiner mushrooms are also fantastic.
Austin Land and Cattle has been the go-to place for special occasions for my wife and myself for more than twenty years. The food and ambiance are exceptional, and the service is always top notch. Our most recent visit did nothing but exceed our expectations -- wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere, wonderful service. Bravo!
Great place to celebrate a birthday Great service.
The staff was excellent and the food was delicious. Steaks not cooked exactly as requested but we’re still very good
ALC Steaks is the absolute best steakhouse in Austin.
Food was great, but you pay for it. Not complaining, but there's a reason I normally make steak at home.
Good, not great. Ironically have had better steaks in NY, SF and LA - but still I thought it was good - nothing to complain about. I did really enjoy the spicy lambchops. I should have just made that my dinner. Very tender and the spice was perfectly tuned. The crabcakes however - maybe an off night but they were not good at all. Tasted like tunafish balled up with white bread. No idea what that mayonnaise sauce was either. I'd come back and give it another shot some day, next time I'm in town. Still generally enjoyable. Oh, and please update your bourbon selection. Get some higher end stuff in there! :-)
Nice. Low key atmosphere and delicious food.
Bone-in Ribeye was phenomenal, Chilean Sea Bass also extremely good. The truffled bacon mac and cheese is like liquid velvet, it's so smooth and delicious. Service was great as always, definitely a go-to restaurant when you want a really nice meal and experience.
Food was excellent. Waiter was patient and polite.
Great steaks, appreciated recommendations, and charming ambiance. We noted it was our anniversary in our reservation and were greeted with a nice recognition of our celebration along with a quiet table off from the main dining room for a wonderfully peaceful experience. Our server graciously answered all our questions and gave excellent recommendations. We look forward to returning soon!
This restaurant is incredible! It is the only place in Austin you can get your steak cooked the way you requested and taste the meat! Everyone should come over and eat here. Thanks to Bryan our server for being spot on with his service to us. We will see you again soon.
Steaks were good. But uncomfortable chairs and small table for 4 people were the negatives. Also, I expected the surroundings to be more upscale.
The service was excellent. The food was very good but I’ve eaten at some really great steak places so I can’t say outstanding. Nice lighting, low noise. You won’t be disappointed.
I’d hate to say it, but the steaks were the least favorite part of the entire meal. Jumbo crab cakes only consisted of two crab cakes, which granted were large and we spilt to have enough for the table, the waiter could have mentioned this. The steaks were mediocre unfortunately. Nothing better than what I could have done at home. Very surprised as I was reading several reviews about how you could cut the steaks with a fork and how they were so well seasoned. Our waiter wasn’t very attentive, I felt like every time he actually managed to come by we’d had already been waiting several minutes with empty plates and ready to place the next order for entrees or dessert. The chocolate brownie pie though was AMAZING and highly recommend with a scoop of ice cream ! The vibe was clean cut and relaxed, but I’m not honestly not sure I would give this place another go considering the price we had to pay for an okay meal. It wasn’t bad by any means, I just wasn’t wowed or even content by the meal overall.
Great experience. We’ve been going to ALC for 20+ years and it never disappoints. Great quality food and experience without the stuffiness your typical steakhouse. We really love this place.
Great food and wait staff!
Enjoyed a delicious Christmas Eve dinner thanks to wonderful service
Great, quiet dinner on Christmas Eve! Food, drinks, and service were perfect.
Quality and preparation of food was poor . Pricing was on par with other high quality steakhouses but food was nowhere close. Extremely disappointing $450 meal. Will not be returning nor recommending.
It was by far one of the worst dining experiences I have ever encountered in a restaurant setting.
The restaurant was empty at 7:45pm and there was not a single drop of music playing and the lights were way too bright. It was the most uncomfortable experience I’ve ever been in for a steakhouse. The server rarely came by the table and seemed distant or annoyed. We asked them if there was music playing and the response was... “what, can you not hear it?” There was literally nothing playing at all. One song played when the food came out then silence again. The service was sub par. Server seemed annoyed that we weren’t ordering alcohol. A dining experience for 4 sober individuals shouldn’t be uncomfortable.
If I could give negative stars, I would for the food. The filet mignon looked like a piece of meat that they found squeezed between two couch cushions and just decided to bring it out anyways. Presentation was non existent, it was an embarrassing looking plate. The only redeeming quality was the Mac and cheese and that was still more like cheese fondue with a couple scattered macaroni pieces. We all felt sick the next day.
My guests and I had a decent time though, due to the laughable nature of the experience. $120 meal for two people. Not exactly cheap. Won’t be back.
If you want to feel awkward for an hour and a half and have a bad meal. Come here.
We just returned home from a fantastic dining experience at ALC Steaks. The entire night was 5 star, from the hostess who honored our table request with a quiet location, to our waiter, Jeff who turned out to be the manager who had stepped in to help out on a very busy night. Jeff was friendly and attentive. Our drinks, appetizers and dinners were served promptly. We chose the filet and the lobster. Both were superb! My understanding is that this is a family owned business. These folks clearly understand customer service. Every employee in the establishment was hustling. The place was packed. Great experience. We will absolutely return. Thanks ALC!
Escargot app not so good. Garlic butter that it was cooked in really thin. Had to send medium rare ordered beef back twice. 1st time came out way over cooked. 2nd almost raw. 3 time medium to the well side but gave in because we’re hungry. Bright spot was dessert that’s it!!
Service was not great. We had a large group - the server lost someone’s credit card, argued with us on the bill and demanded a new card from the person’s he lost. Food was mediocre. Steaks weren’t cooked to ordered temp and meat was fatty and tough. Very disappointing.
I always go to ALC on my birthday, and I am always delighted. The service and food are both outstanding every time. It's a real treat to go there. Also, it's never loud. My wife is a vegetarian and they always come up with a delicious dish for her.
Bone In Ribeye w/side of sweet potato fries, Cream Clam Chowder, and side of Mac and Cheese.
Meat was succulent (ordered medium rare), Clam chowder was hot (a plus in this cool/cold weather) and at the perfect level of viscosity and creaminess, the sweet potato fries made the perfect contrast with the Meat; the Mac and Cheese was at what I regard as the nominal blend of cream and cheese.
Came here with my wife for our 3 year anniversary, the ambiance was lively yet calm enough for conversation, lighting dim for inducing relaxation. The hostess was able to accomodate us, despite us being 1 hour past our initial reservation (obviously, we notified her and called ahead). Bo, our waiter, was professional and very attentive (yet not to the point of annoyance).
We will be back and recommend ALC to anyone. Y'all keep up the good work!
Every time we are in the Austin area we get to go to Austin Land and Cattle. The wine selections, the food, the service and the atmosphere are the best in town. Parking is a little tight so we always try and take one car or a taxi. They add gratuity so be careful. I was surprised too since I generally tip in cash and much more than they added. We were only five too. Great place nonetheless.
Absolutely wonderful to have grass feed beef on the menu! The steaks were incredibly good. We won't eat steak anywhere else again.
My strip was very good. Mac and cheese worth the calories! My husband was slightly disappointed in his t-bone. It was cut uneven making it impossible to be cooked to the correct temperature through out. Also the filet side was only a bite big.
We'd go back probably, just he would get something else .
Great experience overall as usual. Good food & good service.
We were first people in the resteraunt that evening, but they sat us near the bar which was quite loud with happy hour patrons. The atmosphere was good as we were the only one's in there for most of our stay. We expected more flavor from the steaks. Just kind of plain. Like no seasonings at all from what we could tell.
It was great.
We had an amazing dinner from start to finish!
The food was excellent as usual. ALC never disappoints!
Service was very good. Steaks were just average. Wine list selections were limited.
Good food and great service.
Wow, how the mighty have fallen! We always have come here for special occasions - anniversaries, birthdays and others (like when my partner became a citizen). It's never disappointed until tonight, and then it hit it big time. The food, the service, management's response all compounded insult upon injury. I was initially served a steak as tough as shoe leather. It took about 5 minutes to flag the waiter down, and he knew immediately what the issue was - they served a bad cut of ribeye. It took another 20 minutes to get a replacement and by then my partner had finished. I was so disappointed, that I asked the server to pack up the meal. I didn't want to have to have both of us finish our meal in front of the other. I complained to the manager, and he was dismissive at best. At least they comped my meal, but I mentioned that I felt that was the bare minimum they could do. He said his bosses would fire him if he were to do anything more. I'm disappointed with what has been, until tonight, one of my favorite restaurants in Austin.
