Our flagship restaurant in Honolulu has been recognized by numerous awards including those for "Best Tasting Menu", "Best Wine Program", "Best Service", and "Best Desserts." The culinary team is always striving to create new dishes that speak of our Farm to Table commitment, and our staff strives to make your romantic dinner, special occasion, or visit to Honolulu a memorable one for every guest.
Outstanding service and food. Perfect place for a special occasion
Great very very special occasions or with special guests
A very enjoyable evening. Fantastic service. The culinary highlight was a surprise: the "tacos" we shared as an appetizer. Superb and highly recommended. We both enjoyed the steamed opakapaka, creatively served with pork hash, but could have done with less of the broth in which the fish were seemingly still swimming. The desserts were sinfully good.
Delicious meal and impeccable service! We had the menu tasting and enjoyed every course. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful course for first two dishes worst for the rest
Truly outstanding as always! Alan Wong's remains our favorite on the island and go to spot for special occasions.
Great food and service!
We loved the seafood cake generously seasoned with lemongrass & served with a delicious remoulade sauce, it was a nice change from every restaurant's crab cake. The seabass was cooked perfectly with a lovely crisp skin. Chocolate dessert wafers and cookie completely satisfied our chocolate craving.
Engaging wait staff catered to us.
Side note...in my opinion $7 mandatory valet fee + tip, an even $10 is rather high for parking where the valets aren't required to trot very far. Compare the parking rates & distance the valets cover at the Kahala Resort.
I dined at Alan Wong's with a dear family friend who lives in Maui. I have visited Alan Wong's over the past 20 or so years and it has been constantly exceptional, from the time you enter to the time you leave. Pleasant ambiance with excellent service and cuisine. We had the pre-fix dinner menu. The twice cooked kalbi-ribs was tender and tasty. The small chocolate crunch bars for dessert were yummy. This is one of my favorites, Highly Recommended!
Much ado about nothing. Poor wait staff. Food average at BEST. Odd feel in restaurant. It’s time has past
Alan Wong’s is one of the best restaurants on Oahu. The service, food, and ambiance were perfect. The AW experience is consistent. We will go to AW when we return to Oahu.
I was a big fan of the Pineapple Room and with its closing I was very excited to visit Alan Wong’s main restaurant. However I didn’t catch that it’s most recent reviews were not that good. Instead, I looked at the volume of positive ratings. Little did I know...that the restaurant is in decline. The restaurant itself is in an office building on a iffy street. Not a big deal. Dining room was ok. My husband and I ordered the tasting menu. Our server Troy was very inattentive and we had long waits between courses and our drinks were late in coming. The foie gras sandwich appetizer was light and flavorful. The cold bisque soup was too salty. The next plate, the shrimp lasagne was horrendous. The pasta wasn’t cooked through and the shrimp was gummy. The next plate was a monchong in a ginger sauce. It was overwhelming over spiced and it burned my mouth. Finally we had the short ribs which weren’t very flavorful. Desert was tons of overdone chocolate without anything to balance it out. In past menus I could see that this fish had been changed out from opa to monchong and the desert used to come with ice cream. Now the restaurant is trying to save money and live off its past accolades. Terrible waste of $300 for two.
We had the tasting menu and it was amazing
Impeccable service with very knowledgeable waiter who made great recommendations. Very nice size portions but save room for “The coconut”!
Alan Wong's menu offers such amazing taste sensations, from appetizers to entrees to desserts. This is probably the best dining experience I have had in Honolulu. Very nice selection of wines by the glass. The service is courteous, attentive and professional without being intrusive. Having dined here several times in the past 4 years, I can say nothing bad about Alan Wong's. It is very much worth visiting if in Honolulu.
Great Service, great food.
Great food, were also very attentive about ensuring that specific dietary issues were accommodated.
Wonderful tastes of Hawaii, though somewhat tired dishes. Service was disappointing, the waiter insisted he knew what we liked more than we did. We had to tell him several times that my mother did not like a certain ingredient on the tasting menu before be relented. Overall I would not recommend as there are now more innovative places to dine in Honolulu.
Innovative culinary experience. Beginning with the bar selection to dinner, every offered item was classic perfection with every morsel feeding the soul as well. The closing act, the shaved pineapple ice, was a surprise beyond description. We have already referred the restaurant to other fellow travelers we have met. Well done.
Great food. Fantastic service and wait staff. We celebrated our anniversary and having our names on the menu was a nice touch. Highly recommended.
Went to Alan Wong's for a celebration for my daughter. Alan Wong's handled my special celebratory requests to perfection. The hostess and wait staff specifically congratulated my daughter, making her feel special. Mike, out waiter, was outstanding. His pleasant and polite conversational tone made for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. He inquired about food allergies and mentioned each menu item that might contain the allergens. Since our last visit to Alan Wong's a few years ago, the menu has expanded for the better. The delicious short ribs is still the favorite with our family. The food and service made it an exceptional evening for the entire family. I can't wait for the next family celebration at Alan Wong's. Maybe I should just make up an excuse to take the family there once again.
Unusual location for such a wonderful restaurant- 3rd floor of a commercial building
The food is outstanding- we had the short ribs and the ginger crushed onaga - both were incredibly delicious. We split the ahi and Avacadi appetizer - also wonderful. The coconut dessert is also delicious
Wonderful wine list with a few bargains
The food was no good at all. Quality dropped way too much. They didn’t increas price for 10 years so they cut quality
Great food - some of the best in Hawaii
I really wanted to try the chef’s taste special but it was only avail if everyone on your phone table purchased it. One of my guest does not eat meat or dairy so the rest of us could not order it. I was very disappointed. So I went with the signature fish. It was very salty - I couldn’t eat the whole dish.
My wife and I just celebrated our 17th anniversary at Alan Wong's. As always, Alan Wong's delivers. Of all the different restaurants that we have been to around Hawaii, Alan Wong's consistently impresses. The signature appetizers and food are simply amazing. After dinner, I was talking with my wife and we decided that we probably won't even mess around with any other restaurants to celebrate our anniversary each year.
Great place for a special occasion. The tasting menu is the way to go if this is your first time especially with the wine pairing. Out waiter Michael was very attentive, even when it got busy. This will definitely be our go to place for special occasions.
Food was amazing, must eat when you're in Honolulu
Best restaurant in Honolulu!
Food and service was very good. Unfortunately too many young children running around screaming and bumping into my chair. It’s was not the dining experience I expected for $110pp
Recommended to us by a local friend and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. Amazing food and service in an elegant setting. The wine pairing was spot on and every bite was clearly well thought out.
We really enjoyed our overall experience! What a great way to end the hectic work week and a great start to a great weekend!
Mahalo to Aaron, Mike and all for your a1 service!
Service was great, appetizers were delicious. My main course was Opakapaka. It should have a sweet mild taste, but was fishy. This is from old fish. I put soy sauce on it to kill the fishy flavor. They took it off tap. We always seem to have a problem when we dine here. No more. Thanks
We have waited very long time for our ribeye steaks. They came but they were cold. Manager gave her apologies and ordered new ones.
“ALAN” name is famous, that’s why people are coming to this restaurant.
If you forget about his name; the restaurant is in an apartment floor, there is no any nice view, they are putting on a/c like freezing people, the atmosphere is so regular, the food came cold.
Sorry Alan, things are not going good in your restaurant, despite your name.
Just moved back to Hawaii. It was my husband & my 25th Anniversary. I was just so impressed with the customer service & food! Bravo Allen Wong on creating such an amazing experience. Your parking attendant, front host, servers and chefs were definitely on point! We walked out saying we will be back. The food was so delicious! I will highly recommend your restaurant to family & friends! I can see why the Obama’s love coming here!
Incredible. Best dining experience I've had outside New Orleans ever. All aspects of it were awesome.
