About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for outdoor dining
  • Great for scenic views
Our island is full of stories, none more inviting than the one told by the dish in front of you. Known for its modern take on Hawaiian comfort fare, Alaia embraces the community through its support of nearby Mauka Farms, telling their story through every plate, bite, and sip. Using unique, native produce such as apple bananas, Moloka'i sweet potatoes and tomatoes from Pele, a third generation farmer, our culinary team works in tune with the seasons. At Alaia we reap the bounty from the mauka to the makai, working with hand-selected fruits and vegetables from our farm to your table. We let the quality and simplicity of the ingredients speak for themselves. And we love what they have to say.

Thomas was our server, and he was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, timely. 10/10 server. Food was delicious. Pretty pricey but on par with a nice restaurant on the island. Highly recommend.

I’d love to say we had a good experience, but we just didn’t. At this price point, the bar for service must be higher. We were seated an hour and a half before our entrees came out. Tables sat after us got their checks before we got our second course. A shame given that we are here celebrating our anniversary.

Our hostess greeted us promptly and gave us a lovely outdoor table. Scott our waiter was very friendly and professional. Food was awesome and was one of our best meals of all times. Our experience was so good that we came back again in the same week.

We enjoyed our dinner at Alaia! The food was delicious and the service was stellar. I was incredibly impressed by the punctuality of our experience. We had the sashimi as an appetizer. It was good, but the temperature of the fish was varying which just felt a bit odd. We loved the mushroom tagliatelle. We will certainly be back.

This was not on par with what I would expect from a Ritz Carlton property restaurant. We had poke, sashimi, a pear salad and a steak and a side of mushrooms. We also had a cocktail each for the 2 of us. Total spent, about 240 USD before tip. The positives: food was fresh, easy to find a table this time of year (May). And the rest: it was a very bumpy dinner service. First I found it odd that the dinner was served with break apart Chinese takeout style chopsticks. Just super tacky. Didn’t match the price point. The waiter was ill informed of the cocktail menu and his recommendation was the most expensive thing on the menu (tomahawk) which is always a bit of a red flag for me. When I asked if they could make a cocktail that was off menu which I had at the lobby bar the night prior (known among cocktail folks, an aviation) he told me “bar tender has a phone” instead of just asking if he could make it. Just an odd vibe. The drink failed that I ordered instead showed up after the food which was unceremoniously dropped on the table all at once. It literally wouldn’t fit. When I said I couldn’t possibly eat this all at once they asked if we wanted a bigger table. Again just odd. Take it back. Try again later. The same thing happened again with the second round of food. The waiter threw his runner under the bus and said it was her fault. I disagree. But found the squabble to be none of my business. Just make it work. Eventually the waiter left for the end of his shift without saying anything. Never a brief apology, not a “my bad” or sorry it got weird. Would not go back. Would not recommend at this time.

The overall experience was lovely, but our server Thomas was by far and above the best part of our night. He was kind, patient, informative, efficient and very funny! He elevated our dining experience and made our trip extra special.

We came to Alaia to celebrate a 60th Birthday. Given the restaurant is in the Ritz Carlton we were expecting a great experience. Unfortunately this restaurant was very average- over priced and there were quite a few mistakes that really killed our celebration vibes. After ordering and drinking a lovely bottle of Ruinart with our appitisers we ordered a nice bottle of Chardonnay for our entree meals. Our food was served without our wine order. The waiter forgot about our wine and after asking twice, we were told they didn’t have the bottle. By now we were half way through our entree meal and after choosing another bottle, we were told they didn’t have it again. The waiter brought what he thought was similar but by this time we were finished our entree meal- without anything to drink. This really ruined the atmosphere at our table celebrating a milestone Birthday.
