   This was such a welcome surprise. We sat outside on a beautiful night and everything smelled wonderful. The server was very sweet and offered us a complimentary glass of Prosecco when we arrived. We shared a salad and a pizza and someone else had the seafood pasta dish and loved it. The bread they served is homemade daily. The whole meal was delicious and we discovered by accident as it was next door to The Seafood Bar and Grill, which was also very good. The wine is quite expensive as it is all over the island! Will go back on our next visit.

   Had fresh made fettuccine. Good. Bit expensive. Too bad view obstructed, but food quality is worth the drive. Good value for this area. Would recommend for good food if ambience is not more important than taste. They have flavor and good service.

   We love Italian Cuisine. we've lived in NYC, and have traveled to Italy several times so we "know " good Italian! we were thrilled that Matt, one of the Chef's stopped by our table to tell us about the specials. Nice touch! The Gnocci and the pizza ( best I've had since my last trip to Naples) were fabulous!

   Wow!!! All of their ingredients are imported from Italy and it shows. Everything that we tried was sublime. Authentic Naples style focaccia and and pizza to the best gnocchi you will ever have, the experience only gets better from there. The wonderful ingredients in the hands of the Italian owner/chef made every dish an authentic delight. A large and diverse menu only adds to the magic of the offerings here. From the first bite, I knew we were in for a special experience and I was right. Experience Italy in Hawaii at Al Vicolo.

   Transparently I had reservations about dining w/ friends from Waimea who had heard mixed reviews about Al Vicolo, so we took a chance since listed on Open Table. The service by Ben was outstanding!!! Starting w/ the cheese & salami appetizer which truly rocked the palate. Our entrees included black pepper pasta w/ Parmesan....sounds simple...complex flavors; the veal Parmesan was done perfectly in a lemon glaze, the calzone w/ side of steamed veggies also outstanding!!!! Lastly the berry panacotta & teramisu topped off a wonderful dinner w/ great friends. Chef David prepared & presented an outstanding experience. So leave the resorts and drive a few miles to Kawaihae for a wonderful dining adventure!!!

   Love Italian food and travel to Italy frequently. This is authentic!! Excellent pasta and everything was very fresh! I’ll definitely be back in next visit to the Big Island. This place is a gem and so much better (and better value!) than the restaurants st the resorts....

   The pizzas are the only saving grace for this restaurant. Homemade pasta is not cooked properly. I like Al dente, but this was somehow sticking together and yet hard is a rock.. our server tried but too few servers for the crowd. As a matter of fact we walked in and one of the servers said don’t give them to me. Not a great way to be greeted .

    Delicious food with a large menu. Caprese dish was shared with several diners. The pasta was cooked perfectly and everyone enjoyed their various sauces. Even the bread was great! It is a little pricey but the food is worth the cost.
