Al Dente Restaurant
My absolute favorite restaurant in the North End. Chicken buona boca (spelling) is fantastic as is the lobster ravioli, chicken parmesean... Really anything you get here you can't go wrong! The staff is amazing and make you feel like family!! I would eat here 10/10 times!
Very nice family environment with with nice serving sizes and good food. The staff was very pleasant and checked in with us often.
Best pasta I’ve ever had.
Absolutely excellent. Accommodated our group of 6 for my girlfriend and I engagement party even though we were a half hour late! Wonderful people and food is amazing
Loved it from the moment we entered. Owner was funny and very nice along withAnnette our waitress!! Loved it and will come back and recommend
Such a fabulous meal! Delicious food, genuie staff, and fantastic ambiance. Couldn’t ask for more from a night out in Boston!
Absolutely the best in the North End
Delicious food! Great waitress. We had a 4:30 reservation and showed up 45 minutes early-no problem, they sat us immediately. Good portion size. As we were leaving the restaurant was filling up. You could tell it was going to get very loud.
The food was incredible. I absolutely loved the lobster ravioli. We will definitely be back!
We were there for my friends birthday, even though I selected the notation that this is a birthday in making a reservation, and added it in the notes, his special day was not recognized. Otherwise service was friendly.
The food is authentic and will blow your mind. Definitely worth visiting the area for as well.
Al Dente was a recommendation from someone I met in the hotel while I was waiting for my clients to arrive. It was fabulous (and too much) food! It was a shame that none of us lived in Boston to be able to take the leftovers home! Just my meal would have been 2 more! Great recommendation, I would recommend it unless you're looking for a more "formal" dining experience. Food is GREAT, ambiance is a bit of a "local hole in the wall" place... If I lived there, it would definitely be a "go to" place for me!!
Our post-game (Boston Celtics basketball) reservations were for 7:00, but the game was over early. My son and I stopped for a drink as we walked toward the North End, and were still 15 minutes early. As we paused at the door a fellow in a jacket and a cap came around the corner and asked if we had reservations? This guy did not look like a host, but we replied yes and gave him our name when we asked. He said that he would take care of us and ushered us in as the strains of the theme from "The Godfather" ran through my head. Once seated our waitress, Angela, came along called our attention to the specials, and left. She came back in a while, and took our order for a bottle of wine, an appetizer, and our entrees. She warned us that the food was cooked to order, but the wine came quickly along with bread, so the wait did not seem overly long. The fried calamari appetizer was excellent, with the breading just right between too crisp and soggy, and very nice marinara sauce to go along with it. Our entrees, both veal dishes, were perfection. The meat was spiced well, sauces did not overpower the flavors, and the pasta was cooked well. Neither of us could finish the food, and boxed it up to take home. This allowed a second very favorable opinion from my wife on my dinner, which she took to work for her lunch. Al Dente is a family run place, and eating here is like being at a very large Italian dinner party. It's less than a 15 minute walk from TD Garden, making it excellent for a post-game supper following a Bruins or Celtics matinee. But why wait for an excuse? Take a trip to Boston, go to the North End, appreciate some of the historic sights, and treat yourself to a wonderful dining experience.
This food was incredible! The manager was chatty and kind while we waited and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. My Bolognese dish was worthy of 5 stars and was one of the best I’ve had in the North End! Love al dente!
I enjoyed Al Dente. Right in the heart of salem street, this small restaurant offers great value. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I would go back and I would recommend it to others. I got the eggplant/chicken parm combo and I would order it again.
Enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner. Veal and seafood. Large portions. Enjoyed dinner, conversation and a good chianti.
Such a nice family, great food at a very reasonable price. They bent over to accommodate us. Lovely experience
Al Dente has a warm comfortable atmosphere. The menu is extensive and the portions are huge for the price. Every meal is delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. A great North End staple!
Al Dente was a fantastic stop through our trip in Baltimore. We were immediately seated. Our food came out quickly. Was hot and delicious. Our waitress was funny and kind. Place is quite small, not much elbow room but that’s a part of its charm. I loved it!
Service was rough.
We sent a few friends here and called in with credit card info to pay for the bill - it went perfectly! The staff was very helpful and our friends had a great evening.
The best food in the north end!
The veal in the cutlet parmagiana was very tender, and also a generous portion, the pumpkin ravioli were very delicious, as was the other fresh made fusilli.
Our server, Angela could not be more friendly and accommodating. She made us feel like 'regulars."
The food was fantastic & the service was the best. Angela made us feel like we were eating at a family members house!
We arrived 1 hour early for our reservation and the host did a great job accommodating us. Unfortunately it went down hill from there. The food was very disappointing, Salads were good, Eggplant Rollatini was burnt, my wife Peso was gritty like there was sand in it, my Penne with Vodka Sauce and veal had no taste, my son's Veal Saltimbocca had no taste, the Chicken Umberto was good. It was like none of the pasta water was salted .We also ordered a side of meatballs which were ok, a little soft but ok , the sausages we ordered were very dry and tough like they were leftover from the day before. Our waitress was good and offered to make things right but it was too late, she did remove the Pesto and sausages from the bill. The host visited us a couple of time to see how things were going, he was the best thing about the place. One last note, during dinner we were invaded by fruit flies, yes fruit flies .. We counted 15 of them on the walls and tables around us, spent most of dinner shooing them away... We visit the North End frequently and with the good reviews we were looking forward to trying a new place, we won't be returning...
The food was incredible!!! My issue is with the size of the restaurant and the extremely loud nature of the room. I could hear ever person ‘s conversation echoing, except my dining partner. The service was very good. The “greeter” at the door was unfriendly and unwelcoming. One of the servers clearly doesn’t like children and with the noise level and size of the space, I can almost commiserate with her. I would go back for sure, but ONLY to get take out.
Very loud but we were used to it, part of the charm. Had a wait- despite reservation but well worth the wait. Staff was friendly and service was great!
Had a 8pm reservation but wasn’t seated until 8:45pm.
We did not even get to eat. Out reservation was at 7:30 and still had not been sat by 8:30. We had somewhere else to be so we had to find somewhere else to eat.
Food and service was outstanding. It is a small place which we like but had a very large table of loud people behind us
We have been here a bunch of times solo and with our kids (10 & 7) twice. It's always good and the people here are really down to earth and nice. Keep up the great work, Al Dente! Thank you! :)
Awesome Authentic Italian Food
My favorite restaurant in the North End
Overall we’d be back and recommend it to others!
We are 2 couples who meet every several months for lunch, most often in the North End! We have been back to Al Dente several times and very likely will do again. Meals are consistently delicious and staff friendly. A shout out to JoAnne who was awesome!!
I went here on Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend and as soon as we walked in, we had to walk right out! I feel so bad because I’m sure the food was going to be really good, but it was the most crammed restaurant I have EVER seen. They divided small tables in half with a wooden divider so you were practically on top of the person next to you..and it was so hot I felt like I couldn’t breathe! So sad because we were really excited but that was a little too close for comfort
Great food and great service. Waitress was attentive despite the busyness of Valentines Day. Would recommend for any occasion.
I got the Chicken Umberto and my girlfriend the Chicken Parm and found both to be very enjoyable.
One minor downside was no dessert menu, but it wasn't really a big deal.
Great food, fun service
Delicious food and authentic North End atmosphere.
