Come see why Al Biernat's North is one of the best restaurants in the country.
We showed up for dinner despite current COVID-19 concerns for a birthday. Party of two, safe as can be. I was pleasantly surprised to see the precautions they’ve taken (paper recyclable menus, hand sanitizer, great social distance of the staff and customers).
Now, the food. As a first time diner, we were comparing this experience to our favorite Dallas steakhouses: Fearing’s, Bob’s, Double Eagle. The steak was right on par but with a nice elevated flavor (I don’t know what seasoning they used, but man, I’d like to get me some of that). We had calamari - my boyfriend gets calamari quite literally everywhere and said it was probably some of the best he’s at period, not just in Dallas. The sides were excellent too. Only thing lacking in comparison was the bread selection to start the meal. It’s served cold, on purpose, with some fantastic salted butter. Comparing that to one of Bob’s giant warm rolls is not the right thing to do here. The french bread and sourdough were fantastic.
Let’s get to the best part. This cheesecake. Dear lord. I travel to New York frequently for business and I haven’t been able to find cheesecake this great anywhere else. I suppose that’s why they fly it in. The texture and flavor are in a league of their own.
Service was a little slow, but that’s part of them allowing you to enjoy your meal. I really don’t understand the negative comments in here, because they do just fine. You shouldn’t want to rush to get out of this place anyway. Ambiance is excellent. Wine selection. Fantastic.
We look forward to dining here again once it’s safe to be out and about. For now, I’m seriously hoping they do takeout because if you’re needing a steak and every single grocery store in a 50 mile radius has sold out, this is the place to go.
This is our second trip to Al Biernat's North. This service was outstanding both times. Our waiter (Edwin) and waitress (Bonnie) were amazing. Very attentive and knowledgable. The cocktails and appetizers were very tasty and satisfying. I ordered the Sea Bass which was outstanding both times. My husband ordered the 8 oz. Filet both times and the second go-round was not as good as the first. All the sides were outstanding and highly recommend the brussel sprouts. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and Bonnie made the occasion special. Thank you for special memories and a wonderful meal.
Was a little loud of a business meeting. Overall great lunch!
Mr. Biernat has done it again in North Dallas. Like Oak Lawn, there is not a better place to dine than Biernat's, for great service and great food.....all the time!!! I commend the consistent excellence that is their hallmark, and which is unusual to find these days. If you simply want the best food in town with a wide range of food choices, a great wine list and 5 star service, at a fair price, do not pass up Biernats!!!
Food and service were excellent 👌. Always consistent. Would highly recommend 👌
We went for lunch and my wife got the pot roast which was outstanding. I got the salmon special and it was ok. I'm glad I tried it but I wouldn't get it again. Overall Al's is a great place especially for lunch.
Excellent food and service. We always enjoy dining there.
Shrimp and Scallops were overcooked.
Chilean Sea Bass plate poor presentation....all white? Overall flavorless
Asparagus cooked well, no seasoning/flavor
Brussel Sprouts significantly Under cooked. Hard,
New York Cheesecake gritty not smooth. Flavorless
Overall very poor for the exorbitant prices.
Very Very Loud. Certainly not a place to have a conversation or a romantic evening.
Will not return or recommend.
Hello Lou, I'm sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience with us on Wednesday. If you have a few minutes, please give us a call at the restaurant so we can discuss your visit and how we can improve for the future! Hope to hear from you soon, Shirley, Manager (972)239-3400
Edwin consistently provides exceptional service!
The Sea Bass is outstanding.
Edwin is a fantastic server. Always an enjoyable experience!
The breakfast sandwich was excellent!!
We go there for date night or special occasions. We love our server Rafael. They are so quick to accommodate special requests or alternatives to the menu. Fun to sit in a booth in the bR for people watching. If you want it quieter, then the dining room or booth in dining room should be requested. Great happy hour, too. Only valet parking is offered, so we usually do one of the ride shares. Enjoy!
Wagyu burger was disappointing.
Service and appetizers were great.
Outstanding service (Mark was our waiter); waiter was very attentive but not overly so. He seemed to appear just at the right moment, was helpful when asked but not intrusive. Quickly gathered more information when requested.
Food was generally outstanding: tuna appetizer, Al's salad, steak, and the best halibut we have enjoyed. The coconut cream pie was not a slam dunk. Overall great experience, highly recommended, but extremely pricey if you are on a budget.
I took my husband there for his 50th birthday lunch. Raphael was our waiter, he is the best in addition to recommending great and savory selections. Thank you to Al Biernat, Eddie and of course Raphael.
We will return for lunch and dinner.
Ben was our waiter and the bartender.
He was Excellent and very personable, and treated us like family.
The Food quality and Chemistry was awesome!
Comfortable atmosphere that was relaxing and enjoyable.
Al Biernat's is consistently a great place to dine with great service!
Disappointing experience. After booking a table a week prior, we were taken upstairs to a small room behind the bar (not the upstairs dining room). Our servers appeared to be the the bartenders, and we received typical bar service (no wine menu, no dinner recommendations). Tempura prawn appetizer and salad were mediocre, both soggy, but steaks were not bad. On our way out, I asked the hostess why we weren’t offered a regular table. She rolled her eyes dismissively and said “if you wanted to be in the dining room you should have said something”. There are too many great restaurants in Dallas, will not make the mistake of booking here again.
Good afternoon, I want to thank you for your feedback, and I'd like to personally apologize about your disappointing experience with us. Will you please give us a call at the restaurant so we can discuss your visit and how we can make it up to you? You can reach us at 972-239-3400. Look forward to hearing from you soon! Shirley, Manager
Just an outstanding evening on all levels. The service from the valet parking all the way through dinner was amazing. The food as always was served perfectly and quickly. I highly recommend Al's for special occasions and for a simple dinner as well.
What a great evening. Part Valentine’s, part Birthday and we had a great time. The arugula salad was fantastic-but way too big not to share. The Caesar dressing was authentic and fishy. The steak tartar and quail egg is better than you’ll find anywhere else. The steaks were fantastic and cooked perfectly-medium rare. One person got the calves liver and loved it! The Brussels and steak fries were awesome sides and more than enough for 4 to share. Bonnie took great care of us.
The noise level was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation. The bar tender needs to learn his to make a obscenely dirty martini.... barely tasted the olive juice.
Great food and service
Wonderful time! Our Amazing Server, Stephanie was the BEST! The service and food were Fabulous!
I thought this place would be a nice place for a romantic dinner. But the people to the right of my table were literally yelling at one another, the people to the left of my table were also yelling at one another. My waitress, was more focused on sharing a glass of red wine with a group of men then serving me and my girlfriend drinks, refills, food, or a check. She would continuously disappear for 15 minutes at a time. My night was littered with “what did you say” or “oh my gosh it’s loud in here”, And to top it off my waitress could not figure out to work a simple debt card. She brought it back saying it wouldn’t work, which is simply the most embarrassing thing on a valentines date. But instead of working on the problem she simply wouldn’t try anything else. She continually kept swiping the card instead of using the chip. I usually love Dallas dining but this was truly the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
Hi there, thank you so much for your feedback about your visit last night. I want to extend our sincerest apologies about your disappointing experience on behalf of Al Biernat’s and the rest of the management team. Please give us a call at the restaurant (972)239-3400; we would love to hear more about your visit and discuss what we can do to make this up to you and prevent this from happening in the future. Best regards, Shirley Manager, Al Biernat’s North
Food was great and Bonnie was a great server! Thank you!
I often come to Dallas just to simply wine and dine, and Al Biernat's added another level to exceptional in all categories. This will be one I will continue to repeat!!
I’ve been wanting to visit this location for some time and was looking forward to it. My mom and her boyfriend last minute wanted to join and they were quick to update our reservation. The food and drinks were great. The service was the friendliest but it was busy.
Incredible food and service. One of the best steaks I’ve ever had in my life.
The ambiance was perfect and food was amazing! It was the perfect place to celebrate a birthday and make it special!
Did not have a great experience! Had a reservation at 8:30 PM sat down at 9:05, waiter was rude, was sat in the bar instead of a table. So loud we could not hear each other talk! Would not go back.
I had higher expectations for this restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere was just okay.
They have us in their system and all we have to do is ask for our favorite table and they know what we want. Service is consistently great and so is the food.
Very nice atmosphere. Appropriate for special occasions. Ordered the surf and turf special. The steak was prepared perfectly and was delicious. The Australian lobster was just okay. Also tried the lobster bisque which was great.
They sat our server with fare too many tables at once. She couldn’t serve everyone effectively. We also waited a long time to get our food. If this had been my first visit it would be my last. Noise level was insane. You couldn’t hear across a 4 top table. Disappointed at best. I eat out most weekends and always book open. This ranks as one of those sorry I spent the money experiences. Manager never walked through to check tables or on the servers.
Outstanding Service! They were very attentive and super fast. Poke Appetizer was amazing. However my husband's Buffalo and my Red Snapper were pretty mediocre. Great bottle of wine, and we had a dessert Chocolate Covered Cherry Martini at the bar afterwards that was fantastic.
Great as usual
Great experience all around. Amazing food and amazing service !
Went here for Valentines dinner. Food was great, server was a little out there. He needed to be a little more refined. I wanted the sides to go and this guy scraped the crumbs from the table into my leftovers.
He wasn’t what I expected from one of the best steak places in Dallas. Also, didn’t explain that the surf and turf the lobster was some mash up of break crumbs and fishy sauce. Would have been nice to know had he explained it.
We went here for Valentine’s Day dinner. Service was poor. I asked for butter 3 times before getting some. Our steaks arrived and we asked for bernaise sauce for our steak. The sauce arrived after we finished eating our meal!! Our drinks sat empty! We will not be returning to this restuarant. Choose Perry’s or Chanberlains for better experience.
Service was fine initially but a little slow towards the end, which might be expected on Valentines day but for the price not very impressive. The food was good but we have had better at other places for less. (Steak wise Knife is a better bet, Hudson House has better seafood, etc.) Overall I just expected more from Al Biernat’s reputation.
Al Biernats never disappoints. This was our first visit to Al Biernats North and we were pleased with our visit. The ambience was set perfectly. The noise level was not a factor. Our waiter, Jeff, was great. He was very friendly, charismatic, and well-versed in the menu. He made great suggestions for me and my wife. The food was ready in record time and came out perfect to our expectations. We will definitely be recommending Al Biernats North to friends and family. The hardest choice for next time is deciding which location to visit.
