By the end of the dinner comes nice surprise plate with our desserts decorated beautifully, on plate written ‘happy anniversary’, so sweet that the chef is thoughtful and amazing skill!

We always have a wonderful time at Akira. Its has become our special treat restaurant because it is so incredible. The 5 course christmas menu was amazing and is filled with so many different elements. Its more like a 15 course menu as the bento box has dozens of different things and the hot stone skewers include 3 different meats. The Miso Cod was heavenly!

The service is impeccable and everyone is so friendly and helpful.

We cant wait to visit again in 2021

Absolutely beautiful food. Had one of the tasting menus. However, the tempura was stone cold and the mashed potato salad and the savoury custard needed much more flavour.

We had a wonderful lunch for my boyfriend’s birthday. The food was exquisite as was the service. The unique serving dishes and tableware made it a magical dining experience. The bento boxes contained an array of jewelled rock pools filled with delicious morsels We will certainly be back. ❤️

The food and service are outstanding. The safety measures are very good.

Staff were the stars! We got a counter seat, and could watch the chefs cook. There was lively chatter between the waiters and chefs too, which was unique, welcoming the guests and calling ready orders.
The staff were super friendly and the ambiance was warm. The description about food was also very helpful too!
We really enjoyed our time- they even added a celebratory “Happy Anniversary” to our dessert too (I hadn’t even requested that either!)!

We have been coming to the restaurant since it has opened. The service was the only thing needing improvement and it has. The quality and consistency has been great

Nice quiet place to have lunch or afternoon tea. Staff was friendly and efficient. However food was a little pricey but not unexpected since it was in High street Kensington.

I came to enjoy Saturday evening with my Miss but unfortunately
we were not impressed by our server who, as we were told later by another waiter, turned out to be a manager Peter. His menu knowledge of food and service skills were extremely poor, not enough even for a waiter.

We are very familiar with Japanese food and sake and noticed how much he lies about food dishes (we had lived in Tokyo for 5 years) and keeps on guessing. On top of everything he was very arrogant, didn’t clean our table at all and was very sarcastic with us. Maybe he thought he was being funny but actually he made us feel very unwelcomed.

His energy was not pleasant at all, and he behaved as if he owns the place.
The food was delicious and we enjoyed tasty cocktails.
We liked Akira restaurant, especially its design and atmosphere, however we really felt uncomfortable with our superstitious server.

Superb sashimi and sushi, the salad starters were fresh, flavourful and generous, the sashimi delicious and delightfully seasoned.

Disappointed with the heavy use of mayonnaise in so many dishes. Not a traditional Japanese ingredient and rather spoiled the freshness you expect from Japanese dishes.

Service was very good so it’s a shame I won’t be returning any time soon.

The table was ten minutes late and it took talking to the manager to get our table as we were told that “the guests before us were still having dessert” and when they are finished with the desert they would be served the bill. We felt as if we were disturbing someone’s wonderful day and the manager was not even apologetic but slightly aggressive as to why we. Annoy understand we can’t have our table on time for our birthday dinner.

When the cake with the candle was brought I asked for it to be served among our group to which the response was: “I am not really good in serving the cake so please do it yourself”
So can’t grade this experience anything higher than two, although we used to be regulars in this place and deserved at least optimal attention for the special occasion. The level of service and price tag do not match and you are left feeling as if you got into a communist country restaurant by mistake.

Akira remains one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in London. I've now had all three styles of the lunchtime bentos, and they are all delicious: visually stunning and outstanding flavours.
