   Waited 1 hour for our drinks. We did get one glass of water about 20 minutes in. Slow service, the sushi was good. The unagi was served cold.

   Sensational sushi and other Japanese food spot. We especially enjoyed the okonomiyaki (shrimp & cabbage pancake). Service was a bit spotty, with a few different people waiting on us...and then kind of forgetting about us. But I'd go back for the food.

   3rd time at Akemi for dinner, 1st time 2 yes ago and 2nd time 1 yr ago were both excellent, food and service were good, this 3rd time the quality of fish seemed alot lower, and service was lagging at only about 30% indoor capacity. kamikaze roll was still good but everything else we (party of 5) had was just eh. maybe just an off night but we try other places for sushi going forward

   We are multi-repeat customers, order many of the same items each time and obviously enjoy them. The service is pleasant and prompt though we do tend to come earlier in the evening.

   I had the most amazing time celebrating my cousin's birthday at Akemi! The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the presentation was beautiful. We tried a variety of rolls and sashimi, and each one was better than the last. The service was exceptional, with our server making great recommendations and ensuring that we had everything we needed to have a memorable evening. The restaurant itself is cozy and welcoming, with a lovely atmosphere that made us feel right at home. Overall, I can't recommend Akemi enough - it's the perfect spot for a special occasion or just a night out with friends. We can't wait to come back!

    This is one of our favorite Japanese restaurants. I’m reminded of how busy it is on weekends so service was a little slow. I’m also told that their bar will open up for service in a couple of weeks. That’s always a plus for us. It is pricey for the sashimi but it’s always super fresh!

    The fish in sushi was some of the best I’ve had. Buttery texture and delicious! Ambiance for a Christmas Eve was pleasant. Not full, but not empty, either. Lovely restaurant… great for every day, date, special occasion.

    Took my Mom for her Birthday lunch. Was a bit tired of a sushi chain restaurant in the East Bay so thought we’d try them out. Food was very good but service is slow - only 2 servers. No beer on draft. The hamachi kama was a good size. The gyoza skin was a little thick. Sushi is fresh. Great neighborhood gem if you’re not in a hurry.

    We love Akemi and have been here many times. Unfortunately the night we were there they were out of the miso glazed cod, which is a favorite of ours. Other than that the food was delicious and the service was great.

    I went there for dinner with 4 others. 3 The California roll appetizer was not very good. The chicken teriyaki which three people ordered was made with not the best quality meat. It is fine to not use chicken breast, but at least use an identifiable part of the chicken. We had no idea what part of the chicken meat they use.

    I recommend Akemi when you have sushi cravings and you want to sit down with friends in a nice atmosphere to enjoy it. The sashimi and rolls were very fresh and well prepared and the sake list is extensive. Lovely serving dishes and sake service. The miso soup is as good as I've had, and the tempura was nice as well. Try the brussels sprout appetizer - surprisingly Japanese and great tasting! But the star is the sushi, with many varieties to please every palate. The night we visited they seemed understaffed, and there was a steady stream of takeout orders being prepared, seemingly competing with us in-house diners. But the wait for food was acceptable given the deliciousness of the food.

    Delicious food. Great for a casual dinner. So many options of sushi and also vegan/vegetarian options too like sushi and ramen. Not just your boring avocado and cucumber rolls. They had other more exciting choices. I loved the grilled steak combo meal and the spinach gomae was delicious. I’m so glad I found this place on Opentable. I highly recommend it.

    Delicious! My family of 6 and myself enjoyed our experience at Akemi very much. The staff was attentive, warm and welcoming. We ordered 4 soups (lobster ramen and spicy miso) YUM. They were big enough to share between two people. We also ordered 5 sushi rolls, a combination plate, and two edamame orders. Perfect amount for all of us. Their tea is also so good!     Nice neighborhood sushi restaurant. Nice sake flights or by the glass. Nice presentations. Sushi was fresh. Nice selection of salads, sashimi, sushi and dinner entrees. We sat outside and it was pleasant-they have a few heaters if needed.
