Highly recommend weekend brunch. Server Elaine is the best.
Noise level was high when we were seated but as dinners left it got quieter.
Food was good value, noise is an issue.
The prix fixe is good value for $45. It was a good dinner for Valentine's Day. This was my second time at the restaurant and both times the service were excellent.
We were pleased to be there with friends. Food was delicious ( we all had the duck pasta) but it wasn't hot, which was really disappointing. However, we didn't complain - didn't want to wait while it was warmed up! Our waiter was attentive and very pleasant.
The pasta was delicious. The sole was perfectly cooked, but I was surprised it wasn’t served with a sauce or at least with lemon. However, lemon was served once I asked for it.
The service was excellent. We sat in a private booth and although it was right next to the entrance booth, we were not disturbed. This is the second time we’ve eaten here and we enjoyed it.
great food, great service,
salads were light, tasty and unique in flavour
burger was delicious
We are AGO members and we had a lovely time there entertaining guests. Service could have been a little more attentive. Mainly I wanted to suggest that water glasses always be filled. Most nice restaurants, they keep an eye on the glasses and fill them when they're empty so you don't have to keep flagging them down and asking again and again. It's a small thing but it goes a long way.
It's a good place to have dinner with friends or family. But the number of servers is limited, so sometimes it takes a long time to finish dining.
Great service and the wine selection was decent. The pasta special was fantastic and a good serving size.
Excellent, friendly service for a birthday celebration!
The sea bass was delicious. Winterlicious menu based on French impressionism exhibit that is coming soon.
Our server was excellent!
She was very attentive to my GF diet requirements
We dined at AGO Bistro, combining a tour of some of the galleries and a chance to experience Winterlicious. Our 3 course meal was well prepared and presented and tasty. Service was pleasant and efficient without being overbearing. And we were delighted at the low noise level with no thumping music to make conversation difficult. There was a certain minimalist nature to the meal which might not satisfy those with hearty appetites and the server's query "how is it tasting?" while often used these days is not very original or helpful. We would like to see a wine sourced from East of Niagara on the wine list of an Ontario institution.
The food here is AMAZING! All of it. Plenty of choices for everyone, even us vegetarians. =D
Our server was amazing. He gave us a great red wine recommendation and was very attentive to our needs the whole night!
The Bistro is a great place for a business lunch. The restaurant isn’t too noisy, the menu is varied, the service is considerate.
Last time I as here it was called Frank and I did not like it. This time the food was delicious. I spoke to one of the chefs asking what they did to the eggplant. My goodness it was delicious. I brought people from California, their first time in Toronto and I did not know them. They were very impressed so nicely done. I would come back for lunch and a glass of wine on my own anytime.
Thank you everyone
The chick pea lunch entree was awesome! And sourdough bread worth the calories. Too bad the restaurant is open to the noisy cafe below.
They served a falafel lunch and called it 'chickpea croquettes'.
this place is consistent and excellent. staff are very warm but efficient. they have mostly all been there for years.
We went to the AGO to see an exhibition and then went to lunch. We were seated quickly and the service was timely if a bit disengaged. The menu is nicely varied. My friend had the pasta special, with holiness sauce and I had carrot fennel soup and the squash 3 way salad. An innovative mix of crunch, roasted and wrapped purée. All okay but not on our return “list” unless we are back at the AGO for another event.
We really enjoyed our lunch - the food was delicious and our server was knowledgable about the wine and was able to suggest a perfect pairing for my Grilled Cornish Hen. The Bistro Burger and fries were also a hit. The location is perfect when visiting the AGO. We look forward to returning and trying more from the lunch menu!
This was New Years day Brunch. The set menu included a starter consisting of baked goods, cream, jam and fruits. This was an odd introduction to the next two courses, seafood platter for two hen a dish of beef cheek and one of Fogo cod, both excellent. The treacle dessert was good as well but the lunch was extremely filling. It would have been better to have had the option of omitting the first course with the main course choices we made.
The poached eggs in the Benny were cold and the bottom of the bread bun was burnt and hard
Another regular stop for us in Toronto. We love this restaurant as it is a nice respite from a busy day in the galleries/city. Lively environment, delicious food though the menu was limited and great service. Highly recommend.
Good food & service but limited menu. Good location if visiting AGO but would not go there just to dine as menu choice was restricted and slightly expensive.
Enjoyable lunch and very good service.
We have never had a bad meal at the AGO Bistro. Our server Chris and all the staff were delightful, attentive and knowledgeable. We had the Thai soup to start, which was so flavourful and delicious. And we followed it with the branzino. These chefs know how to do fish. We rarely have dessert; however, we treated ourselves to the tart and the sticky toffee pudding. We won't be skipping dessert ever again.
Very pleasant place to have lunch with visiting the AGO.
Excellent dessert. Too much pastry for the tourtiere.
The menu is inventive, creative and interesting, but not extensive. Our group of 4 loved everything, especially the sweet potato soup of the day. Desserts were sensational. Just wondering why there wasn't a green salad option.
Loved the food and service. I have to keep saying about these modern, open spaces with high ceilings: noise is awful - we could even hear dishes clattering half of the time. Add any level of music, and you can barely talk. And there were few people there at the time! Restaurants, get smart and design 'over the table' baffles to help diners enjoy conversation and their supposedly convivial dining experience. Gad's sake, someone get smart and get designing!!! If I had an industrial background and was in my earlier years, I'd get moving on it.
We have been eating at AGO Bistro for years. The food is variable in quality, but this time it was excellent. Also our waiter was terrific. He gave us excellent advice on wine in particular. We don't know his name, but he told us he'd been there for 9 years.
Excellent food offering very good local foods in keeping with the theme of Anthropocene Exhibition. Knowledgeable waiter with prompt service. This is a regular spot for our AGO visits and well worth the price.
I had one of the specials of the day - tortiere with root vegetables. The tortiere was small with a lot of tough crust. It tasted overbaked. There was some chutney/relish and 3-4 small pieces of root vegetable on the plate as well. One of the pieces of vegetable, I think it was turnip, was dried out. I was with a friend so I didn't make a fuss. I don't plan to eat there again.
We were well looked after by our server. She recommended items. The food was delicious - lovely flavours and beautifully presented.
Always enjoy the excellent and interesting food selection and suggested wine pairings. Cocktails at the bar are a fun way to spend and hour.
Hector, our waiter was excellent. Very attentive. Music level excellent for seniors. Great experience.
Will definitely be going back! A relaxing ambiance that feels special!
