Billy Lawless est heureux d'annoncer un nouveau chapitre dans l'histoire de l'édifice historique Gage - l'ouverture de l'Acanto. Le mot Acanto est la traduction italienne d'acanthe, la feuille fleurie largement utilisée dans l'architecture romaine. Le célèbre architecte Louis Sullivan l'a également reproduite dans l'ornementation en terre cuite qui distingue la façade de ce bâtiment historique situé au 18, South Michigan Avenue. L'Acanto sert une cuisine italienne rustique dans un cadre accueillant et décontracté. À la tête de la cuisine, le chef exécutif Chris Gawronski propose des pâtes faites à la main, des plats de bord de mer, des pizzas cuites au four à bois et un assortiment de charcuterie maison. Best Italian restaurant in the loop area- great for business meals as well as date nights. Inventive food, very good wine list, balanced decor.

We had about a 15 minute wait past our reservation time. There were only two empty chairs at the bar, so 2 of us sat, while the other two left and went for a walk. The restaurant was full, and throughout most of our meal, the noise level was “energetic.” Three of the four of us really enjoyed our food. The lobster ravioli, squid ink pasta, kale salads, and scallops were all delicious. The only disappointment was the rigatoni; it was flavorless and dry. Couldn’t even finish it. However, the cannoli were delicious for dessert! So, a mixed bag. For the cost, the overall experience was “meh.” Although their menu selection is pretty neat, we probably won’t return.

Dined for early dinner before a show. Food and service here is consistently good. Wines and cocktails were good. Pear salad fresh and tasty. Pasta with mushrooms and lobster ravioli were flavorful. Affogato and flourless cake were very good. Service also good. Pleasant, attentive and got us out on time. Enjoyable evening. Great pre theater dinner option.

Amazing experience! Every dish was impeccable and clearly home made. The squid ink fuccilli was the best I have ever had. Will definitely revisit!

The food and service were excellent, if rather pricey. Why do restaurants insist on playing background music in spaces already really noisy just as a result of the noise made by diners?

Appetizers and main courses were all delicious. Our server (Philip) was excellent and very knowledgable regarding the wine list. The restaurant is loud.
