Restauranteur Shawn Virene put the POP into Houston with his wildly successful a’Bouzy. This champagne-fueled spot located in the tony River Oaks neighborhood of town attracts a stylish crowd all day. The bar is always bustling and the patio echoes with the cry – “a Bouzy!” every time a bottle is sabered tableside. In fact, most tables will have multiple wine buckets close by, keeping the bubbly cool. The fresh, ripe American menu features seasonal seafood, salads, small-shareable plates, large raw bar and prime meats. The wine list curated by Virene, is both the best-priced on bubbly and wines in the city. The interiors have a sophisticated rustic vibe with exposed brick, reclaimed woods and a color palate of creams and blues. The effervescent appeal of bubbles is reflected in a light installation that mimics bubbles floating overhead. The spacious patio is a magnet for the stylish clientele that enjoy the year-round garden. The best thing is Champagne and wine is at or below retail

                                                                          Food was fabulous, but the service was less than adequate. We received an excuse from our waiter that said “we are busy bc of Mothers Day. The kitchen is backed up”. The restaurant certainly knew it was Mother’s Day. Additionally, I told them it was also my mother’s 85th birthday and they didn’t acknowledge this in anyway.

                                                                          We were in town for a graduation weekend and were able to celebrate a Mother's Day brunch for 6 including an 87 year old grandmother. The food was wonderful, the ambiance was so much fun, and the shouts of "a'Bouzy" made us smile. The smoked salmon and French omelette were beautifully plated; the moules frites were a gigantic and delicious portion, the 18-month pork belly & eggs was so yummy-- pork belly was tender and well seasoned and the soft scramble was to perfection. The very generous breakfast pastries dish-- is worth order to SHARE. And of course, plan on buying a bottle of bubbly-- doesn't have to be champagne; there is plenty of prosecco options as well.-- and make your own mimosas with various fruit juices. Highly recommend the food. Service is equally good and our waitress made sure that we were well accommodated. Check it out if you haven't already. Highly recommend.

                                                                          The devil eggs were superb. The Seafood pot pie had too much thyme. I left wishing I had ordered th Ahi tuna. Next time I will.

I personally will check the rue in the morning. We use the thyme we grow on site and it can be more potent after so much rain. The Tuna is amazing as well though.                                                                           They were busy for Mother’s Day brunch, but the food and service were still great. First time for us eating brunch here. Great brunch menu to choose from and excellent drink specials. We will be back again soon.

                                                                          Loved the setting and the beets appetizers. Don’t love the potato crusted cod. But would return and try something else just to have those beets!!
