About Last Knife is equal parts a play on words and a play on a steakhouse. From “About Last Night,” the classic movie set in Chicago to morning-after conversation, we thought it time to make steaks less serious, more fun. Benjamin Marshall, one of Chicago’s most famous architects of the firm Marshall & Fox, was a passionate visionary and flashy creator. He would feel right at home entertaining in the building he designed. His visage has been recreated on the south wall of ALK, yet his spirit endures throughout About Last Knife and the entire Hotel Julian. So join him and join us. Have some fun, have some wine and tomorrow, talk About Last Knife.

The food was really fantastic, but the service was poor. Perhaps they were understaffed, but it felt like we spent the majority of our time waiting for someone to take our order, or bring us a drink, or bring the food, or bring the check. It was never the same server—so no one seemed to really take responsibility for our table. If the service matched the food it would have been a real gem!

Very loud and construction was on going.

Fries were overly battered and tasteless. Steak sandwich was dry and barely had 3 oz of meat.

Salad was served strangely - chicken was still on the bone and bland.

My ribeye wasn’t a very good piece of meat, hard to cut, a lot of fat, poorly seasoned, I couldn’t eat it

My wife like her slice of beef Wellington, but a small piece for the price

Wine selection was limited and pricy

Space was noisy, attached to the hotel lobby

No need to go
