Even after all this time Abacus never disappoints us. It is consistently excellent in service and food. We love that more sushi items have been added to the menu.
Abacus consistently provides an excellent meal with very attentive service in a pleasant atmosphere. One of my favorite places for a business meal as it is easy to have a conversation which isn’t a given these days.
For special occasions, we try to find a upscale restaurant to try. This place was one of the restaurants on my list. The service took so long. My husband ordered lamb, all we were able to taste was ginger. I made a comment about it, but was not acknowledged. They brought me the wrong entrée. Overall, it was average or below tasting food with slow service. We were disappointed. I don’t recommend this restaurant.
Server (Candace) was knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. Food, as always, was too-notch.
We went for ladies night. Great drink and food specials. It was a lot of fun.
Great evening. Couldn’t have been better
Great date night. Must try venison and buffalo.
Have been to Abacus many times, however this was the 1st since Kent Rathbun left. The food is good, however it was better when Kent was there. They may be trying to continue from past results
Great but service took forever to start then picked uo
You can never go wrong with Abacus. Everything is always perfect and they change the menu frequently. It's truly a treat to go there. I highly recommend either the tasting menu paired with wines(T-Th) or just go family style with as many small/large plates and sides as you can eat. The only way you can screw up Abacus is to take the traditional individual appetizer/entrée/dessert approach. There are just too many amazing dishes to limit yourself that way.
Austi was a wonderful server!
Our last night in Texas was finished off perfectly with the 8 course tasting menu. Beautiful fish dishes so good my wife (who doesn’t like fish ) said the seared tuna was her favourite. Being English we found the meat dishes a little too salty, but that’s a personal taste issue more than negative feedback. We finished of the evening with a divine passionfriut creme brûlée. We enjoyed our visit so much, we have already reccommended Abacus to our Texan friends as we had a wonderful evening of great food, great service and great ambience. Thank you
Great time and the food was to die for, I ate my most hated vegetable, spinach, it was just that delightful!
The manager, Dennis, was super nice to me and my family. I really appreciated his kindness. There was a Hispanic guy who was helping to clean off the tables. He was just great and very personable as well. Just a great Mother Day's dining experience.
Mother’s Day. Set Menu. Lots of tastes and flavors set up for everyone to share. How can it go wrong when you start out with a lobster shooter?
Mother’s Day. Highly rated place- very expensive. Got there and the decor was dated- the chairs were actually torn and grimy. The food was mediocre. A fixed menu- the prime rib was served without them asking what temp. Everything else was salty, over seasoned or fried.
We are new to Dallas so we didn’t have any recommendations. We took a chance based on your rating. I wouldn’t recommend anyone going here.
We walked in and were seated and the server approached us and said hello took our drink order and didn’t come back for around 10 minutes with our wine and left us without menus during that time. We ordered sushi and the snow crab to start and for dinner the ribeye with salmon. We both work in fine dining establishments and I was anticipating that the appetizers would be coursed but arrived 20-30 minutes later at the same time, then when dinner arrived it was just placed in front of me and that’s it, plate was pretty hot when I went to move it which I wasn’t anticipating because the person that dropped the plate did not say hot plate. The steak was good and cooked wonderfully having said that I wasn’t really sure what some of the ingredients on top were because it wasn’t explained. We may not have dressed the part as the table next to us who had a decanted bottle of opus one on the table and our servers full attention but we tip the same if not better. Neither of us had heard of abacus and stumbled upon it online, for those wanting to dine in I would highly recommend our busser to wait on them who was very nice and personable.
Food was outstanding and service staff paid attention to every detail! Awesome meal, can’t wait to go back!
Tasting menu with wine pairings. Great bar, with engaging bar tenders and good house special old fashioneds. Lobster Shooter’s were unique. Food was good. Mid tier wine pairings started out great with the whites, the reds were marginal if not poor. For the money, you are better off to try Fearings, better all around value and quality, this place has potential, but needs some TLC to get up to standard in the competitive market in Dallas. Was a good experience, just not a great one. Our server Vincent did a great job and tried to fill in the gaps, even bringing a new cab when the first was undrinkable. If they would modify the selection of red wines in the mid tier - there are so many better choices at the same prices as the ones selected, this would be a better review.
Had a great experience at Abacus for my birthday dinner. Great service, all staffs we met were so nice, they even printed a personalized menu card for me that has my name and birthday words on it. Foods were good too, pretty presentation and tasty.
Excellent service. The staff was very friendly. Nice touches included a card from the restaurant acknowledging our anniversary. Special thank you to the General Manager.
The food and service at Abacus were absolutely outstanding. Our expectations were exceeded tenfold. I would highly recommend Abacus to anyone who enjoys incredible food with a pleasant atmosphere and attentive staff.
Love this place. While it has been here for 20 years, it continues to serve outstanding food. I had the Hawaiian poke appetizer, lamb tenderloin and of course the lobster shooters. All were delicious.
Was really impressed with the pricing of at least some of the wine. This particular bottle we selected had a mark-up of less than 2x, which is admirable.
This place was fulfilling the expectations based on other reviews and pictures. We wanted to have a special dinner in a nice fine dining place, and this truly was such. Not too huge floor, but not too tightly put together, not fully packed with people, made nice background chatter, from time to time perhaps bit loud for quiet conversation being muffled in our table, but pretty much exactly what you could expect from a rather quiet dining.
As a romantic place, definitely yes, much more romantic than a more traditional steakhouse for sure. Service was excellent, and wine recommendations were well paired with the food we had. What it comes to food itself. Very well made, fish not over cooked and meat actually cooked to medium rare, as you could expect with this level of dining.
Pricing is bit steep compared to some more every day diners, but you're not paying only for the food, the service was really good and made us feel welcomed as well treated as guests instead of just another paying customer - if that makes sense. Good example of this generic good service is their staff being helpful and noticing you even considering looking for the restroom, and the staff person next to you quietly and discreetly pointing to the direction once you stood up.
I hope everyone gets to have as good experience as we did.
The wagyu filet was tender, delicious and amazing! The salmon with risotto and the rotisserie chicken were equally enjoyable though the peach butter cake and red velvet fairytale cake underwhelmed significantly. Stick with the entrees and skip dessert!
My husband and I took three guests to dinner, and we had high expectations. Disappointed. Both my husband and my entrees (filets) were lukewarm and lacked the flavor and seasoning one would expect from this sort of establishment. The lobster shooters were very good, and I would recommend these. Garlic soup was adequate - nothing special. Red velvet cake was good, but the lime ice cream literally tasted like you would expect Pine-Sol to taste - inedible.
It is unfortunate that the food does not live up to expectations, as the service is outstanding. Unfortunately, we will be in no hurry to go back.
The restaurant is beautifully done and the staff was wonderful. Food was a disappointment, thought it would be memorable, sorry to say I wouldn’t go back.
Serbhe wasn’t good.
We were dropped off at our seats and then ignored. We had to ask for drink menus, and then food menus. Waitstaff came by and were loud, unpleasant, and made crude comments. Our silverware was taken away and not replaced; we needed to find staff to get us more. Food was forgettable. Basically the front of the house didn’t know what they were doing, and the food didn’t back it up.
We've gone to Abacus many times and are never disappointed. Everyone there is friendly yet professional. The waitstaff is great and the food? Presentation is exceptional and very tasty. Will go back as soon as our schedule allows.
My fiancé and I had an incredible experience at Abacus. Food was perfect, service was top notch, and our waitress was very knowledgeable. The rest of the staff were aware it was our 6th anniversary together and went out of their way to ensure a memorable time. We were first timers, but we’ll definitely be back! Kudos to Abacus!
I splurged for my husbands birthday. Well worth it for a special evening. Waiter was great. We kind of let him suggest our dinner. It was just a wonderful evening
Abacus decided to try a concept by serving Easter Brunch this past Sunday (the restaurant is ordinarily closed Sundays).
Rather than go through their menu and make the typical selections one may be accustomed to, you simply decided on the proteins that would be served at your table choosing between roasted chicken, prime rib, and salmon.
Choosing the latter two, we were each served lobster shooters to start (an Abacus signature item), followed by a wonderful selection of breads and muffins. Cocktails and Shirley Temples for the younger ones were followed by generous portions of prime rib and salmon for each, a wonderful mac and cheese dish, rich buttery mashed potatoes, quiche for each table member, home made sausage, and pancakes.
Ice cream and berry cobbler to finish...
The food was delicious and filling, with to-go boxes packed for later snacking.
Very glad to be a part of this concept and look forward to the next Sunday brunch!
Easter brunch, family-style and everything on the plate was excellent. Top notch service. Reliable excellence in a town full of fads and passing fancies.
Went for Easter lunch and it was outstanding! Fabulous meal loved the options and the family style. Cannot wait to return soon. Loved it!
Great Easter lunch, fixed menu, but everything was fantastic!
Fantastic! Couldn’t have asked for better service or food!
Food and service were both very good. Received the table we requested.
Try the tasing menu. Everything was wonderful.
