Please note - standard tables are located in our main dining room and covered atrium room. High top tables are in our intimate, cozy wine bar towards the front of the restaurant. You can reserve the chef's counter as well. Walk-in reservations welcome.

A16 is a Michelin rated and James Beard Award Winning restaurant bringing the delicious and hospitable traditions of lively Campania to San Francisco. The chic, rustic/modernist venue is named after the motorway that transverses the South of Italy. Executive Chef Yosuke Machida carefully selects local, organic produce and meats to prepare a daily menu specializing in wood oven-fired Neapolitan pizza, braised meatballs, vibrant salads, pasta and local meats and seafood dishes. Owner Shelley Lindgren works closely with a well-versed, hospitable service team to bring one of the SF Bay Area's celebrated wine and food destinations.

    I've always enjoyed A16 but last Saturday night was a disappointment. Waitress had low energy, wasn't knowledgable about wines we asked about, and seemed to have too many tables to handle. Once ordered, wines took about 15 minutes to be delivered to table as did water service and glassware. Food good but experience not nearly as great as usual. Bummer!

    Service and food were excellent!! There were 8 of us and we tried many dishes. My personal favorite was the mushroom pizza with an egg - so delicious!!

    Awesome first time experience sitting at the bar with Tim. He was very knowledgeable with the wine selection and I tried a new one Verdeca - masseria li veli. Great choice. Food was amazing quality, flavor with fresh ingredients. Service was outstanding. Will definitely go back next time we are back in SF. Shelley & Kevin

    Having lived in Naples for a while, A16 is very authentic and a favorite spot in not just S.F. but the entire US for Southern Italian food and drinks ne of the best So Italian wine lists. Always great and I look forward to going again and again and again …,

    Loved our experience. Started with the meatballs, which were excellent and in a very well-done sauce. We split the Arugula and Peach salad, which was excellent. We then split the Salsiccia Pizza, which was good. It would’ve been great if the crust was a bit more crunchy. The crust was a tad too doughy - which is really the only negative thing we can say. We finished the night off with the Tiramisu, which was extremely well done! Lastly, our server, Luis, was outstanding! He made the evening all the more fun! Thank you!

    We had our daughter’s graduation dinner at A16 and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The service was outstanding—friendly, professional, and incredibly attentive. Every dish was delicious, from the wood-fired pizzas to the house-made pastas. Our whole table was raving about the food! The atmosphere was perfect for a celebration—warm, welcoming, and full of energy. A16 made a special night even more memorable. Highly recommend!

    Excellent food and service!! A little loud but not terrible. The cannellini beans were absolutely delicious! Halibut and salad also terrific. Highly recommended!

    Went to A16 around 2021–2022 when they earned their Michelin star and absolutely loved it—great food, great vibe. Unfortunately, things have gone downhill since then. Visited tonight and the pizza was bitter and burnt, with a charred crust that overpowered everything. It was genuinely unpleasant, and we ended up leaving much of it. The dining room was also incredibly loud—we could barely hear each other across the table. We were there for my partner's birthday which was noted in our reservation but our server failed to acknowledge it. I understand places get busy but recognizing a special occasion is such a basic hospitality gesture—it left the night feeling impersonal and overlooked. I'd skip it for many better options around the Marina.

    Have gone to A16 on and off throughout the years and always valued the excellent Italian food and extensive Italian wine list. Waitress this time was excellent, but the menu was limited and the the food just OK; certainly overpriced for the quality. First choice of wine was on the wine list but not available. Chocolate tart desert was dry and bland. There are so many excellent restaurants in San Francisco, so I will probably not be returning to A16.
