Service was so so bad! Super disappointing. We never saw our waitress even after asking for her. Dishes were never cleared off the table. We ordered glasses of wine at the same time a neighboring table ordered their food and the food came first. And generally overpriced.
We’ve loved A16 in SF for years and Saturday on the back patio did not disappoint. The food and wine were good but our server, Natalia, was spectacular in every way. She made us feel welcome and special, smoothed over a few bumps and gave us good advice on choices.
Food was great, wine was great, just a bit expensive as always for SF. Two glasses of wine, two apps, a pizza and pasta… $150. Good but you decide the value.
Always a great experience at A16!!
Salads and Pizza great, pasta and entrees were average. Service good.
We had the best server. She was terrific.
service was a bit slow but the pizza was great as always there.
First time back to A16 in 10 years (we moved to CO), and it hasn't missed a beat! Love the vibe, the ownership, and the staff.
I have to admit I almost cancelled and went elsewhere after reading a few negative Yelp reviews, boy am I glad I didn’t!
The meal was fantastic, appetizers were Panzanella salad (fresh, bright, amazing), shishito peppers, but rattan with crostini ( felt like I was eating in Italy, best stateside example I have eaten).
We ordered 3 pizzas and 1 roasted chicken, every morsel was better than the last! Couple bottles of wine recommended by our waiter were again spot on and could not have matched up to the food ordered any better.
Obviously the food was well received but when I say the service was even better, believe me it was, our guy became fast friends with us and check at the most appropriate times always feeling like family checking on how we were doing, loved this guy and embarrassed I cannot recall his name.
In closing, 2 foodies, 4 winos, all in agreement in all fronts, can’t wait to go back again! As we are leaving my waiter catches up to us and says apologies but the owner of the restaurant is at the bar and he would love to introduce us, was great touch as we exited into the night.
The best pizza “Neapolitan style” in SF, hands down. The crust is just ooooof *chefs kiss*.
Was great to be eating out again- and a lovely day to eat outside with friends. Sausage pizza and beet salad were great
Really good food and largely Italian wine list that had some outstanding choices. Great service and nice atmosphere. Bit loud, but tolerable. Look forward to visiting again sometime soon.
Salmon stood out. Of course, pizza unmatched. Meatballs to start. 4 stars
A16 never disappoints. Lovely ambience, delicious pizza and wine, and friendly staff.
Great service, big helpings, lots of Italian dishes to choose from. I loved the bean soup!
Tired is the adjective i would use. We had a 6 o'clock reservation and eating there reminded me of eating in a corporate lunch Room . It had been a couple of years , and in retrospect we usually ate there for an anniversary in early November, so lights were generally dimmed and there was a nice ambiance. Not yesterday. Also there was a 'caged' light over the pizza oven (i think) that my wife had to stare at. Food , was pretty lackluster, but the pizza was good. Entrees were 'meh'. Also, I found it seemed odd that many of the wait staff had on various tee shirts or sweat shirts with a ridiculous logo on it as if it was promoting a video game. Lastly , a few of the waitstaff - women, wore leggings. This isn't a gym its a restaurant.
Natalia was fabulous! The food was also excellent. Great wine made for perfect evening.
Unfortunately the gnocchi missed the mark. It was so water logged and the sauce was mostly water. Completely tasteless and sad gnocchi! I should have sent back our two dishes - it was that bad. Service was lovely as always and the pizza and apps were great.
Wonderful Italian food and dining experience. Every dish was prepared to perfection! Margarita pizza, ragu pasta, salmon, all really good. Delicious desserts, we couldn’t pick just one so we got two! Great wine list as well.
As always, we were blown away by the food, and excellent wine help from Shelly. Love this place and glad it's back just about full speed.
The food was good and there were no complaints there. We ordered wine by the glass and it did not come until we were half way through the meal. We ate outside and they had trouble keeping it together so I forgave them. This is a pricy restaurant and we were only 2 at dinner and the bill came and they added a 20% service charge. It is of no surprise then that the service is so poor. There is no incentive to please the customer and pay attention. I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened but I am now finished.
Terrific wine list and pizza. Warm service.
Other than a superb pizza, this spot has transitioned into a fast-food-feel that will take a concentrated effort to overhaul. It is an indifferent kitchen making the well known basics in a cafeteria environment. Unfortunately, it is not the destination location it was known to be pre-COVID.
The food here is fantastic. We had 2 vegetable sides, the carrots and the asparagus that were incredibly flavorful and delicious. We had burrata that was divine. We also had a fava pizza that was terrific, a new flavor combination for all of us at the table that we agreed was a winner. We also had a fantastic server. We were on the back patio which was quiet and lovely. This place is a winner every time.
Sat at a table on the sidewalk. Nice neighborhood atmosphere but sharing heat lamps with another table is always a challenge of who's hot and who's cold and who wins. Leisurely service, but that was OK for a Friday lunch. Pizza good as always, this one with fava leaf pesto. Friendly staff - we were all happy to be there and enjoying a social meal out without masks.
Excellent authentic Italian pizzeria&& wine (& bitters) bar — but don’t miss the pastas or appetizers (sardines / tripe )!!! Backyard patio &&& street front outdoor areas. .
Non-pizza menu is small, but great tasting options (we had gnocchi and squid ink/clams). Service was wonderful and the wine recommendation was excellent. It just felt good to dine indoors again!
Incredible wine selection and knowledgeable wait staff. Everything we ordered was delicious.
Excellent food as always! This is a must-do when in SF!
Food on cold side, poor description of menu by staff, number of serving miscues
Great casual dining. Easy with reservations. Outside was comfortable with heaters
What a great meal and wonderful ambience especially after 2020. We met Shelly, owner & medaled by Italy, the country. The delicious food: Tripe, pillowy gnocchi, squid ink pasta, trout and the short ribs. The Italian wines were perfect with the feast. But the best were the servers, Miguel & Serena made everything personable and felt like home.
Mother’s Day lunch with family.
Awesome experience! Love the outdoor set up and the food was phenomenal.
Wonderful food and service! Would definitely return and recommend to friends and family!
Amazing wine list and outstanding service. Terrific pizza.
The food here is as amazing as the service. Hands down one of the best overall dining experiences we’ve ever had in the city. Super friendly staff, great ambiance, incredible wine, and of course the food was absolutely delicious. 10/10 would recommend for any occasion.
