Looked forward to this experience and food for some time. The staff was attentive, 5 stars. Food was good. We were 1 of 3 parties in the dining room. The bar crowd was so loud that the 3 people in the booth next to us shouted their conversation the entire 95 minutes we were there. It was uncomfortable for our party, we couldn’t hear each other. But alas, what could really be done about this situation? Just be aware. Again, good food and staff treated us well.

Ein traditionelles Restaurant mit klassischer Einrichtung, anfangs etwas dunkel, aber man gewöhnt sich daran. Empfang, Barkeeper und Service mit geradezu herzlicher Freundlichkeit. Das Essen war excellent - der ganze Abend hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen.

Excellent service and food—incredibly loud large party next to us made conversation impossible. This was on a Friday night @ 8:00pm. The hostess arranged for a new table and our group of 8 enjoyed a very tasty meal! Fridays are busy and this place is popular—we appreciated the staff’s flexibility and professionalism.

First time in one of Newport Beach’s oldest restaurants (97 years old). We had a great time. The food is good, the service is great, but the noise level at times was very loud. We will certainly go back.

Stepping back in time to a classic steakhouse was a pleasure. Excellent service from Santiago was matched by excellent food, which included entrees of scallops and hanger steak, each perfectly cooked.

Outstanding food and excellent customer service. Most importantly, their steaks are seasoned properly, so one does not have to add additional salt or pepper for balance. Prices are high and most entrees are served à la carte, so the quality to price ratio is a little high, but that's expected because any lease in Newport Beach is very expensive. Simply stated: I would go back again and again.

The back wait/support staff was excellent. Our main table side service waiter unfortunately was not. We had a corner booth, which seemed intimate and lovely when we first sat down. Unfortunately, I think it swallowed everyone’s conversation in the restaurant. It was very loud. Between awkward service and loud ambiance, it was hard to celebrate our engagement dinner peacefully. The food and wine were excellent! However, for a $600+ bill for a party of 4, it fell short for us in other areas.

This is an absolute old school steakhouse institution in the area with a dim red lit dining room and various private areas tucked away. The last time I went was particularly busy but overall a very accommodating and well cared for dining experience that pretty closely justifies the final bill. If you can dive into a full experience food and drink-wise, I'd recommend it.

Dinner was A-mazing! We have been wanting to try this restaurant and glad we finally did. We started with a create your own charcuterie board. Our server offered assistance, picking our cheese based on what we liked. I had the corn lobster soup and my husband had the hearts of palm salad to start. Both were delicious. I had the scallops for my entrée, and he had halibut. Both were very tasty and flavorful. The desserts looked amazing, but we were too full from dinner, so saving those for next time. Our server was new, but very well-versed in the menu and made our dining experience extra special with her personality. We look forward to coming back again soon.

We celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary with dinner at the original A Restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive. Our dinner selections were delicious and well prepared: I had the pork chop and my husband had the salmon; we would recommend both. Unfortunately, we did not leave room for dessert!

The restaurant and our server, Steven, did not disappoint again! We had 8 adults in our party and all our meals came out in a timely fashion and exactly how we ordered them. Cocktails were delicious as well! We were able to eat and enjoy without feeling rushed so the restaurant could get another party or two in.

I didn’t reserve outside, but they forced us to their “patio”. It was a tent in the back of the parking lot. They had a 2 hour wait inside and wouldn’t seat us but took us to the back tent in the parking lot with 20 open tables and acted like it was the same thing. The worst experience I’ve ever had. I want my $280 back. The tent atmosphere was comparable to a sonic drive thru parking lot. It’s crazy they call the parking lot a “patio” and I felt robbed.

Ordered the caesar which was wonderful and then split the filet and halibut. The filet with garlic and butter was just delicious! The halibut was a bit overcooked but otherwise good. The server was excellent. Overall a fantastic experience!

Appetizer was good but came out room temperature and partially finished. Appetizer plates weren't cleared until after the second course was done. The sides and main dishes were good but the waitress spilled my wife's champagne over the table, her dinner, and her dress. The waitress decided she would have it partially refilled for her. Pretty cheap for spilling a drink on someone and their dinner. Disappointing given the price point and alternatives in the area. Otherwise, the staff was friendly.
