It is sad to feel obligated to write a negative review!! In submitting this review, I hope to alert the owner, management and personnel working during our unpleasant dining experience that they have a big problem. No one bringing guests to your establishment expects what we endured. I assure you our two guests thought less of us for suggesting we should go to your restaurant for a meal in the aviation atmosphere. The service provided by the waitress and busboy was slow or delayed for reasons not explained. Burnt and or cold are not good examples of quality food preparation or presentation. I doubt this review will be seen by other potential customers, who need to know what to expect regarding poor service and quality of food being served at your establishment. I know I will not subject any of my friends or associates to a repeat performance. Customers lost. Bill & Carol
We've been here a number of times, but this was a disappointment! The service was slow since they were short on servers. My NY steak was suppose to be medium rare, but was well done. It took some time to get the server's attention to get it changed. By the time he returned with a new steak, we were ready to leave.
Went here for Brunch (been before many times). Food this time was really good and everything was fresh. When this place is less than 75% full, it's actually a really nice brunch. If it there are more people dining that though, it gets real tight and the cook staff can't replenish the food fast enough.
Anniversary of 12 years with my husband ...
The choices of food and desserts...AMAZING!! With 4 kids raging from 8-15, everyone was very happy with their meals! After a full belly, we were able walk around outside and enjoy the beautiful weather as well. Wellbe back for sure!!!
We made reservations for the early rate and were seated late and charged full price. We checked in for our 9:45 reservation at 9:30! Lame.
Have not been to the 94th Aero Squadron in over 10 years and was happy to see it was exactly the same. What you may think looks "kitschy" in terms of decor is pulled off really well. We went for Sunday brunch and there was a lot of different offerings to choose from. Best of all, our waitress was fantastic and very attentive.
Fantastic Valentine's, for the 3rd year in a row! Great prix fixe menu, or a la carte options if you choose. Friday night was also a great pick for dinner because we got into the dance club for free and it was a BLAST. Great music, vibes, and a wide diversity of people having a good time. We will be back!
Wonderful Valentines Menu - Special for two was excellent
Valentines day at this store is a family tradition. Good food with good service.
I have had a pleasant experience in the past while dining here. However, the valentines day menu was a bit underwhelming(1 12oz prime rib--split, 1 lobster tail each, and 2 bacon wrapped shrimp) $120
Recommend for the motif and home cooked foods, although pretty rich. The servings were small, and not what you would expect if you spend 30 per plate, then add appetizer, then add drinks, a couple could easily drop 100. There is better value elsewhere
We arrived on time for our 6pm reservation for 3 people. I had requested a table by the window but they had not reserved one for us and the hostess said we’d have to wait at least 20 minutes for one, so we elected to take another table across from the window seats. A server brought us water but no one came to take our drink order for 15-20 minutes after we were seated. We were going on another 20 minutes after receiving our drinks before my husband finally had to stop the waiter before he passed by a third time to tell him he had not yet taken our food order. He apologized for the delay, took our order and our entrees did come out in a reasonable amount of time. I had requested a gluten-free menu for my mother-in-law in my reservation and indicated we were there for her Birthday but they had no such separate menu (our waiter kept having to go to the kitchen to check with the chef about items she wanted), and there was no Birthday dessert offered to her either, as is customary. On a positive note, our entrees were prepared as requested and were all quite good. Start to finish, the three of us were there 2-1/2 hours! Loved the WWI decor and would like to try going back another time but leary of having a similar experience.
This was the first time I had the waitress not refilling my glass. The guy I had on my birthday last year was amazing.
I had reservations for 6:30 and was told they were a bit behind and we could go to the bar and wait no more than a half hour. After 45 minutes I went out and asked what was up. The hostess stated they were still behind and she would come get us (she was pleasant the whole time). She finally came into the bar and got us about 7:30. Once seated our server was awesome but service was super slow. There were gaps that became awkward. When all was said and done, we didn’t end up leaving until almost 9:30.
Now granted it was Saturday night and I truly wasn’t in any rush as we were celebrating my youngest sons engagement. I’m normally pretty low maintenance but the service was was awkwardly slow. That being said the food was phenomenal which made things a bit better.
All in all, I’ve been to 94th Aero Squadron numerous times over the years, and this is not the norm. Hopefully it was just a bump in the road but figured it was worth sharing. We really love the ambiance and the food has always been delicious however, I may second guess doing anything there to celebrate a special occasion, especially on a Saturday evening.
The restaurant is quite quaint and unique. The service very slow, waited over 20 min just for drinks, and the place was not busy. The food ok, nothing to write home about. Guess it was worth one trip but probably would not go back
My son’s 18th birthday, and all was very nice. I think they were a little short on servers that night, but nothing to complain about. A good time was had by all!
I attempted to order 2 different whiskeys that were on the menu. They couldn't find either. I finally found one they had. The waitress wasn't all that friendly either. It took quite a while for her to come back to take our order. The order took quite a while to get and getting the check took a long time. It wasn't even that crowded but took a long time every step of the way. I'd probable go back, but go to the bar and order appetizers.
We came to San Diego to visit our Navy son....and always stop at this restaurant. ❤️
It was really a nice and vintage place
We had a lovely brunch at 94th Aero Squadron on Sunday. Food was outstanding, great variety of lunch?brunch selections, sparkling wine was plentiful. We'll be back!
Fresh food wonderful ambiance, out Champagne Glasses never hit halfway.. Our server was awesome. We thought since Superbowl the crowd would be large but we went at a great time!
Our server, Michael was exceptional. Made my birthday celebration superb. Good choices, great parking and do ha e the beer cheese soup!
I’m always pleasantly surprised at how good the food is here. I had a steak that was cooked exactly the way I requested, and my date had the notorious prime rib which never disappoints!
I think I ordered the wrong thing--fish! It was not fresh. My husband ordered the prime rib. Excellent!
My friends and I chose this restaurant for our monthly dinner. Two of us had never been before and we like trying new places fir Restaurant Week. The place is really nice, the food was excellent and our server was very nice. I will definitely bring my husband next time!
Our friends are habitually "late," so I dashed inside to tell anyone who would listen that "We are here!" for our 5 PM reservation. The wonderful lady at the front desk not only paid attention to me, marked "us" down as in attendance, set up our table and asked if I'd like to be seated early (I chose to remain on the comfy sofa next to the front desk to wait for my husband and our friends), and then even came over to sit down and converse (guess she thought I looked lonely). The other parties showed up right at 5 PM and we were seated. One is slowly recovering from Lupus and can't have/eat a lot of things; our waittress patiently worked with her to order something she could not only eat but enjoy.
The food was wonderful, our friends had never been there before (!) even though my husband and I used to show up every other Friday (worked the 5-4-9 for YEARS) to the point where even the gardener riding around on his huge mower recognized us and waved as we pulled in! We have celebrated many birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine's Day dinners, etc. at 94th Aero Squadron--and enjoyed every single time.
After coffee and dessert, we presented the "birthday girl" with her card and presents and that capped off a most wonderful time. After going out to our respective vehicles and exchanging hugs all around and hopping in our rig, we were stunned to discover 2-1/2 hours had gone by! We MUST have had a wonderful time :)
I highly recommend this restaurant for their buffet lunch, a business meal, special occasion celebration--pretty darn much anything.
Food was horrendous. Service was ok, but did not go above and beyond in any way. Nothing special for our special event (first solo flight). I would not recommend anyone go hear, besides maybe going for a drink to see the place and checkout the airport from a different vantage point.
Good selection of food great service a little on the pricey side there was four adults and two kids a six-year-old and a four-year-old the bill came to $200.48
The brunch was amazing, lots of choices. Love this place!
Service was substandard. Do not plan to go back.
I would normally have recommended this restaurant to anyone, but something has changed. The food quality has gone down. The cut or quality of beef used is not the standard you used in the past. The beef was tough with a lot of gristle, and was very dry. The fish had no accompaniments (lemon or tarter sauce).
Service was poor. Difficult to get drink refills.
The ambiance is unique with a lot character.
You have used the same chairs for a long time, but they are not very comfortable. Your booths are to tight and cramped.
Always plenty of food and includes bottomless mimosa’s!
Win, win for me, and I will return.
Had a great time!
Wonderful food and professional, friendly service and outstanding value for the money, especially the Early-Flight dinners. Cozy ambience and quiet enough to carry-on a conversation at the table without having to raise your voice. Highly recommend this restaurant.
*VERY* disappointed! Took my wife for her birthday. Little did I know that a wedding had taken place earlier. It would not have mattered, except that they had rented the back room for a reception, and the DJ only played songs at 11! There was not a single corner of the restaurant that was peaceful. And to top it off, as the evening grew later, the staff began sliding couches and chairs along the floor right past our table until the aisle was nearly full. Just random couches and chairs; piled right at our table.
If you're looking for a nice place for a date night, don't go here. Try Hooters. It's probably quieter and more romantic.
Always a great quiet date night out.
Lots of food, but poor quality. Waiter was great, constantly taking plates and refilling drinks. Very poor quality food.
Not on their game. Food was cold, table too cramped for 7 people, no creamed corn :( overall it was ok but for the price tag it should have been much better.
This was a great place to have my retirement party. The noise level was down so we could hear each other. the buffet was tasty and convenient. the wait staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, we all loved the experience.
