This was our first visit to 88 Oaks Carolina Kitchen and we were delighted with the experience. The restaurant is in a Hilton Hotel and it is very well appointed. Service was prompt and friendly. We asked to split a large dinner salad and they brought us two small salads just as we requested. The two entrees (grilled salmon and short ribs) were excellent - perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We will return.

We made a reservation thru open table for Valentine’s Day. The only time available was early but we booked it anyway. We then called the restaurant directly and spoke to the “person charge of reservations who said nothing later was available. Well the place was at least 70% empty when we arrived, while eating, and when we left and in fact there were only 16 people there including us so a later time could have and should have been accommodated. Further the restrictions on the set menu allowed NO substitutions including simply swapping one vegetable which my wife did it like for the other one which was available for another entree. Further the “specialty” drink for $13 came in a small champagne glass. The food overall was very good but the portions were small. It came with desert for the fixed price but was only one small piece of cheesecake which has to be shared. Sharing is nice but for the price it would have been nice to get two even if it came at an extra price.

Great food, great service but it was open to the rest of the hotel which took away from the ambiance.

They weren’t actually open so it was 125$ at a bar experience. What can I say? They should have contracted us they weren’t actually open for dining.

Lovely homemade food. Great selection. Good service. Attentive staff. All that was missing was a bit of festive decoration. The room was rather blend. But the meat was cooked perfectly, testy and plentiful and the bourbon pecan pie was stunning. All fresh . We enjoyed the variety, quality and presentation.

Food for 4:00 pm seating on Thanksgiving buffet was "meh". Rolls were hard, roast turkey was dry and stringy, roast beef was DRY. ..my daughter tried the orange glazed turkey offering but said she didn;t care for it as an alternative to traditional roast turkey...the cornbread dressing was OK. Hot vegetable choices were unusual for "universal appeal" (asparagus and brussels sprouts)--better choices to appeal to more folks might have been green beans, peas, corn, cooked carrots, a spinach dish, etc. Cold salads (I tried 2 of the 4) were different but tasty. Deserts (carrot cake, apple crisp) were very good, family member said chocolate cake was dry. All in all it was "OK" but not "great".

Buffet service was single line and had to wait a long time to get food. A dual buffet line would have been more efficient. Meats at carving station were not warm. Mashed potatoes and other sides were not warm. Dessert table was ok but nothing great. Desserts tasted store bought. The slices of cake were too large. I saw many half eaten slices of cakes being thrown out. Very wasteful. Paid 34.00 each for buffet and it definitely was not worth it. Won't be back.

Thanksgiving buffet had a nice selection of very good food - salads, sides, carving station, desserts. We all liked the rather unique Turkey Collards. Service was excellent. Nice that our party of 7 was able to sit at a table and actually have a dinner conversation without too much noise. Decor was fine, not anything special. We very much enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go back.

This was a very pleasant surprise of a dining experience. The buffet line was smooth and the quality of the food was above and beyond what was expected. Everything was fresh, flavorful and replenished quickly. The entire staff was friendly and attentive especially our waiter who went out of his way to make sure we had a memorable thanksgiving dinner. Job well done!

This restaurant is in the Hilton hotel. It occupies 1/3 of the entry area, however, there were only 3 patrons at the time I arrived to meet friends. I chose to sit in the bar area due to the comfy bench seating. There was a bartender present but I sat for over 15 minutes with no one approaching me for an order or to let me know that I needed to order at the bar. The hostess who sat me didn't mention anything either. The bartender did however, approach a male customer to take his order well after I arrived. Super bad form. Our server was Tyler who was very attentive and friendly. We ordered a bottle of red wine and were provided the standard hotel narrow white wine glasses. We asked for red wine glasses instead and described them to Tyler who then asked the surly bartender for them. He advised Tyler he would not provide them as they have had an issue with the glasses being stolen. Huh?! What does that have to do with properly serving wine? Now to the food. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, beet salad and lump crab cakes, all locally sourced. The food was fairly good. The beet salad was definitely the star of that order and the fried green tomatoes received good comments. All in all the experience was terrible, but the food was passable. If I were staying at the hotel I might eat here, but it is not a destination restaurant. Walk a few hundred yards more over to Bahama Breeze and get equally passable food and be welcomed. Side note, the burger was ordered by a few people who came later and it seemed to be a big hit.

Four of us had dinner on a Friday night. The space was very empty. There were just two tables—ours and another. We were disappointed with the sweet potato chips—too sweet and not crispy at all. I had the portobello sandwich, which was okay served with regular fries that were much better than the sweet potato chips. Two people had the braised ribs and polenta, which they liked. The other person had a salad that was good. Great for quiet conversation. Waiter did a good job.

We were extremely impressed by the ambiance, the friendliness of the staff, availability of food options, and taste of the food. We will definitely return for a future visit. Do yourself a favor and stop in too and ask Jared. As a note, it’s very quaint in that it’s tucked away in the Hilton right beside Bahama Breeze. You’ll thank us later.

We went to 8& Oaks with mediocre expectations for a restaurant in a hotel and left committed to the restaurant and its staff. We are so impressed by the team tonight, their willingness to connect with guests and create a positive environment was so evident. The food was incredible and the offering would fit anyone’s desire (including a full buffet for young ones). The live music is something missing at most restaurants in the area and created a welcoming, energetic dining experience. We will be back often for drinks after work, date nights, or group outings - this restaurant can handle it all!

Not ideal for mother's day selection, but not a bad last minute option. Dinning selections were actually very good. Service was fair. Even though there were very few dinners. It appeared that the entire service staff had something else more pressing to attend to. The open lobby concept was like dining in a gym. The little kids running around loved hearing their screams echo!
