   The kitchen was closed when we arrived for our reservation and the staff said they had canceled their contract with open table. This was the day after Christmas and I was looking forward to having a meal out. Fortunately, we were able to get a table at Catonsville Gourmet across the street. I suggest you go there first and skip 818 altogether.

   Had brunch. Omelets were big and delicious. They come with potatoes but no bread. Also odd that a restaurant does not have desserts/pastries at brunch. But otherwise a very nice brunch.

   Only problem was the noise coming from the party in the rear room. Ravens were playing so there was a fair amount of fan enthusiasm in the entire place. Bakery, cheese shop, and small shopping area downstairs a real find.

   I really want to like this business. The owners have roots in the area, they have another local business, and are doing a good justice by having a beautiful establishment in the heart of Catonsville. We were the first table of the brunch service and it was apparent they were not firing on all cylinders. Three in our group ordered the very affordable breakfast platter, and I ordered the breakfast sandwich. While the breakfast platter is not the most expensive item on the menu, they should treat it as any other breakfast and take pride in what they are serving. All of our potato hash sides were room temperature and not crispy. I saw a cook just scoop them on a plate, 5-7 minutes before our entrees were sent out and they just sat there while breakfast was cooked. My wife’s eggs over easy were sent back, as they were over hard. When they got sent back I heard a gripe from the cook. While I know we did spend a ton of money for these brunch entrees, if you can’t wow us with the simple things why would we want to come back for the more expensive items. This is the 2nd strike with this business, and it’s apparent by the lack of business on a Sunday morning when State Fare is rocking that they are in need of some direction. I wish them luck but will find it hard pressed to want to go back there unless I hear they have improved.

    Unfortunately, I knew things had been getting rough as a regular, but it seems like everything is coming apart at the seams. The food was still good. But the store and the restaurant seemed skeletally staffed. Very unfortunate that a business with such promise appears to be struggling. Hopefully, they can figure out whatever is going on.

    We had a really nice brunch there, on a Sunday. The food was delicious, the service was excellent. The atmosphere was nice - they had some live music but it was nicely in the background so we could easily talk at the table. After brunch we browsed the store downstairs and found a wide selection of fine foods.

    Tim was a fantastic server. He was patient while we waited for our last guest to arrive. He was attentive and personable. We really enjoyed our food too. My French toast was amazing. My husband said the breakfast tacos were the best he’s ever had. We love the concept and atmosphere of 818.

    Very pleasant outdoor seating, though not great scenery. Food and service were very good, though the kitchen ran out of one of our selected menu items - and our dinner was at 6, pretty early to run out of something off the regular menu.

    Wish there was a way to get more information when making a rez through Open Table. We did not know it was "Trivia Night." We would have chosen a different night. We were seated right by the speaker. It was difficult to have a conversation (first time our family had been out together in quite a while). You really had no choice but to participate in the game because the MC was either talking or playing loud music. Service was very good and the menu had been updated since our last visit so that was nice to see changes. Recommend but call first to be sure the "ambiance" fits your evening plans.

    My husband and I had brunch with our children this morning at 818 Market. It was my first time going in and this place is AWESOME. Everything from the layout to the light fixtures is just beautiful. The eggs benedict was phenomenal, my husbands bacon tasted like it was smoked for hours, and our kids loves the pancakes and French toast. Our server Bobby was handling a slew of tables like a charm. He was attentive, polite, and a delight to be around. The manager Tim was amazing as well - friendly, welcoming, and really on point with the way he ran the dining room. Both of my parents worked in fine dining for decades so I am very observant when we go out and this place did not disappoint. Thank you 818! We will be back again soon.

    There was one large party and two tables and 4 at bar. Two servers, manager and cook? Service was slow considering few in entire restaurant. Need more staffing to be successful. Obviously the employees that left have impacted quality experience.

    We went with our two children for jazz brunch when the restaurant was about 50% full and the food was fantastic but the service was very slow. It took 15 mins for drinks initially and an hour+ for food. When things did come out there was a 5+ minute lag between the first two meals delivered and the final two - and one of our children’s orders was one of the delayed plates. The jazz was awesome but way too loud - we couldn’t hear each other at all. No apps or breadbasket at brunch - so everyone was beyond hungry when the food finally came. Potentially awesome restaurant as the food was delicious but the process was a very long one.

    We sat outside and suffered a little from the heat until a breeze blew in because NO ONE inside had on a mask. Not just patrons eating but staff too. I should probably blame CDC and the confusing masks recommendations but umm still made me a little unconfortable and wonder what other COVID measures the place maybe lacked it. However, once outside I loved our waiter and enjoyed my time with friends and the food.

    A nice spice; you don't feel crowded. But not enough wait staff. Our server was nice but stretched a bit thin. Small plates were tastier than entrees. Drinks were good. A tad noisy, but it's a cavernous space and there was a party in the back. I think w/ a few tweaks this place could be even better.

    Should have paid more attention to other reviews - unless you're interested in attending trivia games on a Tuesday night don't go then. Food was excellent. We had the pork and salmon entrees. Ordered the octopus app which was also delicious. Ordered desserts but they were delivered not as ordered so we sent them back. Service was barely tolerable: some bar drinks were brought to the table several minutes before others were even made.- after waiting about 20 min to get them (and, at the time, there were only 3-4 other tables of people). Appetizer was brought with the entrees, though ordered as an app. A coffee was delivered barely warm. We were there just about 2 1/2 hours because of the wait between courses and getting problems resolved. Did not appear to be short-staffed that night. I'll go back sometime as I think the restaurant has great potential. Service needs to improve significantly though.

    This restaurant has a lot of potential and the staff so friendly, however; service was very slow, confused, and seemed to be very all over the place. We would have to flag down servers for anything we needed and often needed to ask more than once as they forgot about us. Food tasted great just service needs more organization and improvement.

    Both food items we got were not that great, the oysters Rockefeller had lots of shells in it and the ceviche was absolutely the worst I've ever tasted and served with broken chips.

    Very happy vegetarian! The small plates are so delicious. The eggplant, mushrooms, and cauliflower are great starters. The acorn squash entree has a wonderful curry flavor without overpowering the vegetables in the dish. The wine shop has some unique wines and spirits and the market downstairs makes a foodie want to spend money :) I'll definitely return.

    I had been following the build of 818 so I was super excited to try the restaurant out and browse the store while back in town. Our server Nick was very good! Our orders were spot on and he checked on the table appropriately. My friends and I enjoyed everything but the dessert. The creme brûlée was so tiny and barely anything in the ramekin that it wasn’t worth the money nor even being put on a menu as a dessert. I would definitely return but perhaps not on Trivia night. It just got a little noisy once that started.

    Food arrived late and cold. Maryland crab soup arrived without a crab. And 10 minutes after it was served someone came out out of the kitchen and said they forgot the crab and they’ll add it to the soup. Super weird. We mentioned the whole experience to the manager.     We like 818 and have been several times. The prices are a bit steep, and everyone was still a bit hungry after completing their meal. They used to do entrees inteded for two people. I guess this must've changed.
