Fabulous experience as always. This is a StL favorite of mine. Daughter & son-in-law we’re visiting over the holidays…they’re farm-to-table foodies, and they LOVED it. It’s an easy answer to the question “where shall we go for dinner?” - 801 Local is always a winner.

Lillian was our waitress and she was wonderful. I had the roasted chicken. It was delicious. Everyone at the table enjoyed their entree. One complaint… the Parker house rolls were delicious but it would be nice if they came with the meal instead of having to pay for them.

Good variety on menu, but nothing we ate was worth returning for. Had Onion soup, halibut (extremely dry and tasteless) , short ribs (more like flavorful stew meat on a bed of cauliflower puree that was bland), parker house rolls (good, but $8 for 5 rolls seems excessive).

Our food was very good (French Onion Soup, Louie Salad, Burger, Tuna, Rolls, Truffle Fries). Our service was also very good. We sat in the dining area on the left side trying to find a quiet table away from the bar. The bar was packed; the dining room got packed. It very loud and difficult to have a conversation across the table. Nice dining experience except for the noise.

Had a happy hour for my birthday here and had an excellent experience. Lots of tasty choices on the menu whereas some HH’s at other places only have a couple things I like. And our waitress (sorry I forgot her name) was outstanding! Smiling, happy, helpful, she really made my evening. The only thing that can be improved upon is noise levels. It can get quite loud both in bar and restaurant. But this isn’t only at 801. Put some sound absorbing panels in so we can enjoy the conversation as much as the restaurant and this will be our number 1 pick all the time :)

The waitstaff here is always wonderful. Professional but also a little playful with fun banter. I have two words—Truffle. Fries. Get them. Delicious. Also the cocktails are always good too. I especially love the summer seasonal selection. The roasted chicken was moist and delicious. The duck dumplings were also good but not great. And our waiter was excellent. Checked often without hovering. Made good recommendations. Was additive to our dinner with friends. Also appreciated the manager stopping by to ask if everything was great.

Our party of 6 had a wonderful meal to celebrate a birthday. We ordered prime rib, short ribs, salmon , couple of burgers for kids and shrimp Louie and nothing was left on the table! Desserts included pumpkin taramisu, chocolate cakes and the birthday special chocolate torte . Truly delicious and will be back for another special day.

I had a party of 4. All portions were very satisfactory. Parker House Rolls, Duck Stickers, and French Onion Soup were tasty and served hot. Linguini and Shrimp dish was nicely done. Not overly creamy and shrimp were large. Two of us had it. Salmon was done to perfection on the other two. My second meal there and I’ll keep going back. Waiter was super helpful and attentive. This place needs to be on your regular restaurant circuit.

Love the food and service but as many other diners have noted it is sooooo loud in there. They need to add baffles or something over the bar area. That is where the noise is generated. Other than that it was as great as always.

They apparently overbook so even though we had a reservation they unable to seat anywhere expect the bar area. It was extremely noisy to the point of being unbearable. You could not have a conversation with the person across the table. We ordered wine with the list price of ten dollars on the menu, we were charged twelve. The food lacked imagination and was just so-so. All in all it was not a pleasant evening especially for the prices they charge.

The whole experience is so nice the ambiance the food and staff we love coming even though the noise level is just so terribly loud. People with hearing aids have such a hard time because of the noise level but because of everything else that is so good we put up with it.
