Their tomato sauce is the only complaint. I forget every time I go there because I love tomato sauce and I am Italian. The tomato sauce seems to have cream in it so it makes it more like a tomato soup instead of tomato sauce. Nonetheless the calamari was incredible as was the chicken Parmesan! Even the french fries were flawless! And the service! Can’t beat it! They even have a good pour on the wine but you do pay for it
I keep coming back for location, ambiance and quality food. But the servers are consistently slow, aloof, and inattentive. Yesterday we even had a server serve a bottle of prosecco for two and expected one of the two to drink from the mid sized bottle instead of a glass. We waited about 10 minutes for water after we sat, then we waited about 20 minutes to order after that when we went to get the waitress from the front. When she asked if we wanted cracked pepper on our food and we said yes, she set down the pepper shaker own right in front of us. If they can shape up on service they can make it!
Great service. The food was delicious. Can't wait to go back.
Thank you for your 5 star review. We can't wait for you to come back either!
The food and service here are always outstanding. Never disappoints.
Thank you for your 5 star review! Your endorsement and thoughts are so appreciated!
The hostess was rude, I asked if we could sit at another table away from the door since it was cold and left open and she said NO but wouldn’t keep the door closed. There were several tables that were vacant. I really enjoy their food so we stayed and had a nice waitress as I wore my coat.
I am so sorry that she put you off. It's not what we do. There was no cause for making you feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. It won't happen again. Thanks for letting us know. Happy New Year.
This place is GARBAGE.
I looked everything up online ahead of time for new years, okay $20-$30 for a meal, sounds good.
I had to book in advance and if i changed my mind then they would charge me?
Anyways, i get there, and they forced us to eat from a “New Years Menu” for an outrageous $50something per person.
I literally dropped $128 for TWO people after taxes!!
The food was literally subpar.
I wish i hadnt gone there. Thanks for ruining our new years with your forced menu and outrageous prices.
(Keep in mind if we wanted to cancel they would charge us $30 on the card on file)
TRASH of a place.
This is a good place for friends to talk over dinner. Service is not rushed, we did not feel like they needed to turn the table. Nice wine list, options for vegetarians and gluten-free people are good.
Selection of by-the-glass wines is very good, though they were out of the Barbera which 2 at our table wanted. Four women getting together to talk and exchange presents - our server was patient and not at all pushy about moving us along. Sort of noisy but not too loud - we could hear ourselves talk. The food was good - not extra-super-excellent, but still very good. I will definitely be back.
If you want to have a good meal and be able to have conversation, this is the perfect place!
Ate here at the recommendation of a friend. The food, atmosphere and service were all top notch. We had wine, appetizers, entrees, espresso and dessert. So good! We will definitely go back.
Thank you very much for your thoughtful review! Great to hear how much you enjoyed it.
Love this restaurant! My chicken parm was a little overdone but other than that everyone else loved their meal.
Thank you for your 5 star review! We really appreciate it. Thank you for your feedback and all the lovely categories you recommend us for.
Awesome food and service! Gina was our server and she was super friendly and very knowledgeable. The wine offerings are well curated and prices are very reasonable. The bottle of wine was a little warm, but easily fixed by asking Gina to chill it a little. Must have the fried calamari app and the Cesar salad. The bolognese is one of the best I’ve ever had! Keep up the great work.
So nice to hear! Thank you for the great feedback. We really appreciate it.
You asked for feedback,,,,
Here it is.
You may possibly consider additional appetizers ,, IE ; Fried or natural shrimp offerings.
Basically , we order the spaghetti w/ meat sauce & mac-n-cheese balls . - Awesome , flavorful , & rewarding. - It’s Consistent .... ( My only meal ordered )
- Also since an Italian restaurant,, chicken and/or/Veal Parmesan w/ spaghetti .
Note; when ordered in the past the chicken Parm,,, It has always been very much too well done. Too Crispy , kinda like a Hockey Puck. - haven’t ordered since,,, - ( no chances to be taken . ) - tried 4 times .
Please see overall critique , Good overall w/ limited selection.
We live on westlake dr on the lake, Close , And at this point, we kinda limit our dining due to above.
Don’t dismay,, overall experience is good,,, however,, Not spectacular simulator to Enoteca and the like.
Thank you very much for you thoughtful review. We always offer a fantastic, locally-sourced special salad, and we are working on execution in the areas that need improvement. Please email me through the website if you'd like to discuss it further.
Food was fresh, quality ingredients, service was knowledgeable and friendly
Thank you very much for the great review. We appreciate the feedback.
This week we made a reservation on OpenTable for 7:30. We arrived about five minutes early. Hostess sat us almost immediately, and said she will bring us water. We did not received water. No one stopped at our table. We were inside at a two-top near the host stand. We were next to a two-top that is outside. They received and finished their meals while we waited for any type of service. Finally at 7:45 we got up and left. A server was walking by as we were leaving and thanked us. I asked her for what.
We have been going here since they opened. We lover their food. However, service has been trending down. I write this review in hopes that the service will be fixed, not to slam the restaurant. I wish 68 Degrees success, but I do not see us going back....at least anytime soon.
The new "point of sale" system was giving the staff fits, but we love our neighborhood cool...68 degrees.
Maybe would have been better in the summer and the ambiance could have made up for the food. The pasta did not seem very fresh... seemed like it was dry pasta from a box or bag that you boil not even fresh but refrigerated. I’d say overall it was extremely mediocre.
As far as service, we weren’t greeted by anyone for several minutes. Then it took two different servers asking if we had been helped to tell us that they’ll let the host know.
Beyond that everyone was friendly and the atmosphere seemed nice. I don’t love writing reviews that aren’t fully positive, but I wish someone would have let me know that this place is average at best before I chose it for my Friday night date.
Low value for money.
The veal was tough, the pasta was cold and nothing had flavor. The waitress was super nice and the inky saving grace to the meal.
Everything excellent but service a little slow on Friday night.
The stools at high table are remarkably uncomfortable!
The food and service were their usual high quality, but the Maine Root Cola (listed on the menu), one of the few non-alcoholic drinks, has not been available for at least two months. I would have bought it instead of drinking ice water.
First and last time I will go to 68°. Service was absolutely terrible and will not go back nor recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointing.
Service not great!!! We waited for over an hour to get entrees for a table of 2! Kitchen had horrible smoke issue while we were there as well. Food was also lacking. Caesar salad had an Italian dressing on it. Pasta sauce was not hot and was thick and dry.
Thank you for your review. If you would like to say more privately about your experience, I would be happy to hear from you. You can contact me through the website's contact page. Joan
Dined at 68 Degrees three times this past week and it was lovely each time. Service and food are just wonderful!! Great, great neighborhood restaurant! Thank You!!!
Thank you for your 5-star review and your supportive comments! We're so glad you enjoyed it and look forward to hosting you again soon.
Food was great but one of the serving of ravioli could have been cooked a couple of minutes longer!
Thank you for your 5-star review! We're so glad you enjoyed it. We appreciate the feedback.
Nice ambiance and good menu and wine list. Service was mediocre. We were ignored at front desk when we arrived - by a waitress, not the hostess but we couldn’t tell and stood there waiting for her attention while she seemed determined not to notice. Wife made a request to change a vegetable on her order. It was accepted by waitress but not done. Waitress didn’t bring what she asked for nor did she follow up for more wine or drinks. Place has very good potential but service on our outing was lacking. Might try again sometime.
Love this place!! It is the perfect balance of everything I love in a restaurant. Beautiful decor, attentive service, acceptable noise level and best of all, delicious food!
Top of the line
Thank you for your 5-star review! We're so glad you enjoyed it.
Always good but sometimes a little slow defending on how crpwded
Thank you for your 5-star review! We're so glad you enjoyed it.
This neighborhood gem is consistently wonderful. Food choices and service really shine and encourage you to return.
Arugula salad was good. Fish and veggies good, but a tad too much oil. Otherwise, very good.
The food was delicious and the wait staff was prompt, helpful and knowledgeable. It was a beautiful night and we sat out side which was very pleasant. I have also eaten lunch here several times and sat inside which is also very comfortable and pretty!
68 is one of my favorite simple Italian spots in town. In my experience, service has been extremely slow, sometimes leaving me to track down someone just to get water.
They have a great atmosphere, a great location, and a consistent crowd. It’s a good spot for a business meal, or catching up with a friend. The only reason I would avoid for a big group would be because of the service. No matter how many people I’ve attended with, they’ve been slow to get to us to start, and don’t seem to be communicating clearly with the kitchen (ex. Letting someone order the special, then returning 20 minutes later to let them know they it isn’t available).
Good food, especially the house specialty Bolonagese.
However, service could be improved: we waited for over 40 minutes for our appetizers to be served, and it wasn't THAT busy!
nice wine selection, cool decor.
parking can be a hassle.
Food was terrific. Quality of food for the price is very good. Service has been lacking past couple of times we were in. Party due to it being crowded. This time I bussed our empty wine glasses and bottle, then got our second bottle that was decanted. I hope this isn’t the new norm here. 😐
One of my favorites!
Our waitress was great, food was lovely BUT the female restroom was not very clean, it had no toilet roll and the toilet bowl was soiled! I would think an establishment that looks so nice in the main dining area would have such a shabby and unclean restroom.... very disappointed. I hope the kitchen is not the same!
Excellent dining experience!
The Gilchrist sisters always do an great job with food. We had the polenta starter, a Caesar, bolognese, and calamari puttanesca. All very good. The service and wine program leaves something to be desired. Our waiter was very nice, but was a bit deer-in-the-headlights. He couldn't answer questions about the food, he had to confirm multiple wine choices with us post-order, and we had to flag him down for water refills. On the wine, the list is potentially strong and well priced, unfortunately most of it isn't stocked. At least it appears that way because the first two bottles we selected couldn't be located. Wine is stored on the shelves through the restaurant, which looks pretty, but makes inventory and service difficult and the wine is too warm to drink without chilling first. Ultimately we had to wander around the restaurant with the servers trying to figure out if our choice was available, and when neither were, we just selected from the walls versus the wine list as that seemed safer than another disappointment. But it wasn't as good a bottle as those we had originally chosen, and as mentioned, was very warm and we had to wait for it to be chilled. This is a neighborhood restaurant for us and I like to go more often, but when my wine choices are so mismanaged and the corkage is relatively high, I may hesitate in how often I return.
