5 church as recommended as a trendy rest w great ffood. Based on our experience if you get gabriel you can add top flight service. Wonderful meal and delightful facility. Bh
Delightful start to finish. Mother's Day buffet was always stocked with delious hot and cold items. Free mimosas for Mom was a nice touch. Will be back next year.
We were there for Mother's Day brunch. Sat down at our reservation time as they had not overbooked and managed their reservations extremely well. The spread of food was outstanding. All high quality. Free mimosas and a flower for the Moms -- a nice touch. Great job by 5Church!
Mother’s Day brunch was very tasty. We had a wonderful time.
The service at 5Church is fantastic. My wife has celiac disease and may restaurants we go to are unable to answer question or are uninterested. The waiter was able to answer all of her questions without having to leave to check. In addition she did not have to settle for a different menu item but was able to get the steak she wanted. Every person there thoroughly enjoyed their meal and it continues to be one of the best places to get a steak.
The temperature in the restaurant was warm. When we asked about why we were told that a large party had caused the warm temps.
We had a great experience at 5Church! My wife and I had steaks and both loved them. I had the 60 second New York Strip which was unique and a real treat. The white bean hummus was a wonderful way to start the meal. We also shared an Italian Sangiovese/Merlot blend which paired well with the steaks. Overall, a great experience!
Fairly empty restaurant at the time of our reservation and my request for a table by the window on my reservation request was ignored. Service was good, food was not. Brunch potatoes were hard and cold. Mimosas saved the meal, luckily. Won’t be back.
The service was excellent and food was really good. We always enjoy our meal at 5 Church.
This was my first visit to 5Church, and I hope it won't be the last! The scallops were cooked to perfection, and everyone at our table loved their food. Before dinner, we each had a drink at the bar, and the bartender was happy to let us taste a wine before we purchased. Overall, it was a great experience.
We went at 11:30 and the doors were locked. At first we thought it had closed. We kept looking in the windows and saw a few people. No one would come to us for a minute or two. Finally someone rushed over. They accidently didn't open the main doors - for more than 30 minutes. There were not very many people there, so it was confusing why the service was SLOW. The waiter apologized for the length of time it took to get our lunch. The food was great though. A bit expensive for lunch and it took too long.
The food and cocktails were superb. Waitstaff was attentive and friendly and had great recommendations, most of which we took. The tuna tartare app is splendid, as well as the lamb and “60 second” steak. Wine list is varied with many reasonably priced options. Would absolutely dine again, as there is more on the menu that looked great.
Wonderful service! Amazing food!
Great food. Service was good but the kitchen was slow. Management did the right thing and offered free desserts. Overall it was a fun place and we would go back.
We enjoyed the food but was disappointed that a member of our party who was gluten and lactose free did not have hardly any options besides just cutting out basically 80% of the entrees.
Loved the place. Mimosa flight was awesome. Super shrimp and grits! Can’t wIt to come back.
GREAT FOOD, GREAT ATMOSPHERE, REASONABLE PRICES! Sounds like the perfect combination to me!!
The wait staff is very attentive. The meal was lucious. The drinks are great. The atmosphere is appropriate for friends getting together but too loud for conducting business. I would definitely come back. GREAT CHOICE
What a disappointment. The food was awful. Iterally the worst meal I’ve had at this price point in CLT. Ceviche was hard + old + so salty - it tasted like they dumped a cup of Morton’s iodized on it. The seafood course, butter poached lobster, was so over cooked and tough and flavorless. And the miso salmon was bland + boring. And the decor is so bad. It’s just all bad. All hype, no quality or heart or focus.
Our first time at this restaurant and it was very good. We enjoyed our meals - I had the pork tenderloin special and my friend had the gnocchi prepared vegan for her. Probably not the best martini I've ever had, but everything else was great and I like the hummus appetizer for the table.
Dinner with friends. Great atmosphere, fantastic good and good service!
Inventive menu. Excellent desserts!
Tuna tartare and cevice appetizers were very good. 60 second NY Strip did not even come close to living up to the description in the menu and it required quite a bit of forceful sawing to cut through it. Yes, I should have sent it back, but I had already sent back the wine which was undrinkable. The wine list offers a lot of grocery store level wines at typical restaurant vintage wine prices. This is one of three restaurants in the 5 Church chain. In my opinion, most likely a money maker for the investors but not a good value for fine dining customers.
From out of town and went with friends. Drink list was unique and the blackberry smash was very good. Roasted beet salad was delicious but lacked greens. Had the scallops which were very good, but just 4 medium sized scallops for $36 was a bit dissappointing. Luckily my wife shared her red snapper over ratatouille- which was superb. Without that I would’ve had to stop to grab a burger on the way home. The waiter sort of tricked us into the desert with a
“Whose birthday is it” inferring we’d have a free desert. We had the chocolate pretzel bar with ice cream. Again the flavors and presentation were great, just didn’t expect another $12 charge.
The restaurant was great, however the portion size fell short. Overall good experience and would return again.
Absolutely could never recommend. My $42 “ribeye” (something that didn’t resemble a ribeye at all) came well done when I had ordered medium rare. I sent it back while my wife ate her lamb burger. When my new steak came it was blue rare and had been loaded with salt. I called the manager over and nicely complained again. He wanted to have them prepare yet another steak to which I said no. They couldn’t do medium rare after two tries. I told him I would not be paying for a steak that I could not eat because of all the salt encrusted on it. I asked if it was supposed to be salt-encrusted, offered for him to taste it (which he declined); and continued to tell him how disappointed i was in this very expensive steak. The cook should have been fired. The manager must have been on the job for the first day due to his response, and our waiter wasn’t much better. He acted completely oblivious to there being any problem. So the bill came with the $14 lamb burger ( the cheapest thing on the menu) and half the cost of the wine. I left a 10% tip. TERRIBLE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!!!
Service was a bit slow. We waited quite a while after being seated just to get our drinks ordered. And then a while after that to order food. Other than that everything was nice. Food was very tasty!
Every thing was fine except my omelette could have been warmer. It was served just above room temperature. Cheesed was no longer melted
Our w daughters and grandson came to visit for the weekend. It was the oldest daughter’s birthday. We decided something in uptown would be fun. Had a great time, great food as always. The staff was excellent!
Reserved space for a cocktail reception, and we had a lovely alcove with room to sit/stand/visit. Service was attentive and helpful for drinks and snacks. Love that hummus! Flatbread was delicious, also shared meatballs & brussel sprouts (not crowd favorites), meat & cheese platter, beet salad.
Great food and great coffee
Very unhappy that I celebrated my birthday with friends there as a first timer. My reservation was at 8:30 pm on April 7, 2018. I called ahead because our Escape rm ran over. I was told that the table was still occupied but by the time I came they would be up. When I arrived, my guests were at the bar. We didn’t get to sit down at ANY table until about 9:45 pm. We asked to be moved to a different table because it was too cold at the one we sat down at. The hostess was the one to take our order because our waiter didn’t come to us yet. Once we reached our final table, and received our food, my food was completely cold. I spoke to the waiter and the owner/manager brought me back a new order but all my friends were done eating so I got my food to go. When you go to upscale restaurants you’re paying for the experience plus the food. My experience was great but I do appreciate the hostess and the owner doing what they could to turn it around. I’m disappointed because my night was thrown off because my reservation went sour.
Brussel sprouts were well done with a sweet flavor at the end. Both fillets that were ordered came out medium well or well instead of medium rare. Recommend the mushroom flatbread.
We went for Easter brunch. At $33/person for a buffet that included shrimp and crab legs, it was a fairly decent deal. There was a very wide selection. The food was okay, but not great. I found both the NY strip and lamb served to be lacking in flavor. The "fried chicken" that was served was actually just breaded chicken strips. And not even homemade ones - they were of the mass produced freezer variety. The shrimp and grits were good. Our server was very nice. For such a hectic day, she was pretty attentive and even brought my mom a complimentary crab cake b/c she really wanted to try it but also really wanted the buffet. Maybe it's not fair to judge the food here based on an Easter buffet, but I have had better quality buffet experiences at that price point and was a little disappointed that the food wasn't somewhat better prepared. I probably would not come back based on this experience.
Easter brunch 2:30pm seating. Very loud, chaotic setting. Buffet poorly accessible. Food set up so high on bar that shorter patron could barely reach, or see it. Buffet poorly replenished. Food itself was overdone and mediocre at best. All in all, did not live up to hype. Would not recommend.
Service was lacking during this Easter brunch. It diminished our experience and overall thoughts about 5Church. Our server did not welcome us. Seemed annoyed to be there and never visited our table after taking our order. We had to ask about coffee, water, remind her about drinks and our food. By the end of our meal, plates were piled up.
This was our first visit and I found the restaurant to be run down and not cared for. It's time for some TLC .
Won't be back
Food was absolutely fantastic. It was packed due to being Easter. When we got up to get another plate our table was cleared even though we had left items there.
Wonderful Easter buffet!!!
