Very good food. A nice experience in Charlotte!
Birthday w/ close friends. Enjoyed the service, food and environment!
Excellent meal and service. A very interesting menu and presentation.
Neal our server was excellent. Food was very well done, tasty and presented well. Overall a great experience.
I've been for dinner before so I decided to go for a birthday brunch - $3 mimosas can't be beat! The brunch menu was solid, the restaurant was as dark as it is during dinner hours which I believe was odd but otherwise nothing negative to say.
Great food! Great cocktails! Great service! Great atmosphere! Made a reservation for a pre-show dinner, and we were able to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Everything was delicious!
We had tickets to a matinee play at Blumenthal and decided to try for reservations that evening, knowing it was St Patrick’s Day and Charlotte uptown would be busy. We were able to get a table for 6:30.
To be brutally honest the only good thing that occurred was sitting next to other friendly diners.
We checked in to the hostess stand at 6:25. There were still a few people at the bar from the 20,000 strong ha crawl that day. The manager said our table would be ready in about 10 min and directed to an open spot at the other end of the bar. We lasted 5 seconds because it was quite evident from the atrocious smell that someone had thrown up at the bar. It was nauseating. We went and sat at the couch to wait. 20 min later after 2 other groups had been seated ahead of us, I checked in again, and without any hesitation or apology we were taken to an open table. The guests next to us said the able had been clear for 30 minutes. The hostess had clearly forgotten about us.
After ordering drinks and appetizer, the server took our entree order. My wife was looking forward to the bouillabaisse. But we were told there was a substitution that was a prawn on top of a black bean cake. The server knew this yet didn’t offer the information ahead of time. Instead of wanting to take more time my wife quickly decided to choose the substitute.
15-20 minutes later our entrees came out. I had ordered heart of ribeye with crushed Yukon gold potatoes. The steak looked a little strange for a ribeye and the sides were Brussels sprouts and a dollop of mashed potatoes. I asked the server if those were supposed to be the crushed potatoes and she quickly realized I had been brought the wrong entree. My wife ate her meal so it wouldn’t get cold. 10-15 min later I had my correct entree. It was actually cooked perfect and tasty along with the red wine reduction. My wife’s prawn was just adequate.
I doubt we will return soon. Too many other great choices to consider in Charlotte.
A little too loud last night, due to St. Patrick’s Day revelers in the bar; but the staff did a good job!
Have been to 5Church several times. This time we had a reservation for St. Patrick's Day. There was a bar crawl and 5Church was one of the participates. This was the loudest noise I have ever heard in a restaurant. Everyone (waiter, host, etc. was apologetic, for what that was worth. Not a good idea if you want a peaceful dinner. My wife and I could not even hear each other across the table. Other diners was having the same pain. Other than that, the food was good and service was good. A message to management, if you are going to invite such a disruption to your restaurant environment, do your regulars a favor. Don't accept reservations until a solid hour after the event is over to give time to get the party goers out.
Service was really good. Server knew all details of the menu. the layout doent offer an alternative (open architecture, but the tables were a bit crammed and the high-top seats a bit uncomfortable. Of course, we were eating in the bar area and the other dining tables looked great. Booked on OpenTable - easy as pie. And valet parking was available.
5Church never disappoints. Great food & great service makes for a memorable dining experience. The staff asked if we were going to the theater (we were) and they gave us the appropriate attention to get us to Blumenthal in plenty of time. W will be back.
Flood was great! For being relatively not busy during lunch it seemed to take a while for the main order to come out on a business lunch.
We had a 7:30 open table reservation for 11. 6 of the 11 showed up at 7:10 and the balance at 7:25. They gave our table away and had to wait another hour to be seated. The staff wasn’t able to describe what was in the food we were eating. Everyone’s steaks were prepared incorrectly or just were just simply given the wrong cut. The staff tried very hard to apologize for their mistake by buying drinks and appetizers but I will have a hard time recommending 5Church to anyone.
Lousy mixed drink.
This was my first time at the restaurant. I loved the ambience, food, bar, cocktail specialties. I had the best hot toddy I've ever had.
Excellent Service and loved the daily menu too! Great ambience and vibe!!!
Fantastic -service and 2 out of 4 dishes
2 entrees were only ok. The trout seemed like they put so much emphasis on it looking good that they forgot to serve it hot. Gnocchi were very bland -all I could taste was flour.
Empty restaurant and they put us in the worst back corner table possible right by the kitchen door.
Was am amazing experience! Service was fantastic, Chef made personal appearance, as did the Maitre'D. Server was very knowledgeable about the menu, read the table and was very unobtrusive of our conversation, made excellent recommendations, and was there when we needed him.
The food was really spectacular, and there seems to be something on the menu for all tastes.
I will definitely return often and recommend to others!
We made a reservation here at 7 pm on a Sunday evening since we were at at meeting nearby. We were seated and given menus. The restaurant was not busy but we waited an excessively long time for some to take our order. When someone did come for the order, we were told that several things on the menu we no longer available, so we needed to reconsider what we wanted. Why weren't we told this when we were seated? Why isn't the menu updated appropriately? Again it was a long wait for our salad and still no bread or cracker to nibble. When the entree came it was nicely presented and tasty, but was cold. The prices charged here well exceed the value, considering the service and the small servings. Two small entrees and one salad with no beverage cost $98. No, I would not recommend this restaurant.
I go here about once a month for Sunday brunch and my only complaint I ever have is the service. The servers have always been nice it just takes them a very long time to bring drinks, the checks, refills. The food always comes out hot and fast and is always delicious.
Excellent Sunday Brunch!
Enjoyed the poached eggs and crab cakes.
Brunch was nice. Young professionals vibing
5 Church never disappoints
Because of a cold wind outside, we arrived for brunch early. They were great about seating our party of seven right away. The server asked if it was a special occasion. The food was delicious and well presented. The mimosa were fresh and bubbly. Overall, it was an outstanding choice.
5Church has always been an amazing spot. However, they have really outdone themselves with the lamb shank. Absolutely impeccable ! I love this place
Dinner was phenomenal. Thank you for the hospitality, the card and service. Best birthday dinner I've ever had.
We had a group of 10 and the wait staff was awesome very attentive to our needs. I had steak and it had a great flavor and was extremely tender. The folks that order the lamb burger said the were very good.
Celebrated my best friends birthday. The service and food was scrumptious. The ambience was intimate. This is my favorite 5 church location.
Really fun decor, with tables far enough away from each other to be comfortable. Bean dip hummus is tasty, and tuna plate is delicious (beware: dainty portion). Spinach salad looked good. Iced tea was replenished during the meal and server was attentive without rushing us. Will definitely be back!
Good preshow dinner. Enjoyed very much. I had Scallops which were a treat. Also enjoyed a frozen espresso dessert that was good.
This was my first brunch at 5Church and it was on point. Great food & service!
As usual, a wonderful evening of food and drinks. Service was excellent and the food delicious. It was a busy night with the CIAA in town. But the staff handle the crowds of people with ease.
Second time we visited. First time was in January of 2015, two out of four dishes had to be made twice for two dishes because it came out cold the first time. Then they reheated the steaks which over cooked then. Sent them back a second time and they made two new steaks, like they should have done the first time. The overall service from the host/hostess and bar tender were terrible, as if they were bothered! Waitress was good. They finally gave us a whopping $40 gift card to make up for the terrible service and food.
Fast forward three years and we figured we’d give em another shot. Plus, we had $40 still to spend. Bar service was better, as was the hostess. Waitress was good, but again, steak was cold. And they “reheated” it.
To each their own, but I feel that a $100/person meal should be right the first time every-time.
Will not be going back a 3rd time.
I ordered the spinach salad, which was bland and boring. It was not a good value for $12. My seared tuna entree was much better, but again, it wasn't worth the money since everything comes a la carte. This is the second time we have tried this restaurant, and we probably won't go back. There are lots of other excellent dining options in Charlotte.
Well I'm not sure we went on a great night. We were in Charlotte for a show. It was a big night for other activities in the city. When I go to a high dollar ecclectic restaurant I'm looking for great service and an awesome meal. My steak was over cooked and it was not a great strip steak the second time I got it. The first time it came with brussel sprouts (incorrect but I like them so I didn't send them back). When I realized the steak was overdone, I did send it back. The second time, I received the correct side, braised greens. Absolutely delicious. My mother's meal, the lamb shank with braised greens and grits, was divine. The drinks were great. Management did apologize for the mix up and comped my drink. I will go back and try them again. We had to look for our server a few times but again it became busy quickly. However, I believe this place is normally busy and so service should not be slow.
We will be back. My wife & I enjoyed a late brunch that was one of best we have had. The service was excellent and the food was everything we could have hoped for. I had the lamb burger, my wife had the french toast. The burger was excellent. The patty was moist, the bun soft and supple, yet it didn't get mushy from the juicy burger. For my personal taste, I would have like a little more onion & arugula, but the blue cheese was perfect. It added a salty punch without being overpowering. The home fries had a crispy exterior and fluffy interior that you always hope for. The french toast with apple compote was also delicious. Sweet enough without being cloying. The fresh whipped cream & chai syrup were the perfect accompaniments. Please don't overlook the coffee. Coffee is so often and afterthought, but not here. Locally roasted, expertly brewed, and accompanied by cream, house made sugar cubes, and coffee jelly bellies. This was the perfect unexpected surprise ! My wife enjoyed mimosa's with her meal that were " the perfect balance of juice and booze". This is how we experienced 5 Church. We enjoyed the company, drinks, and ambiance so much, we never realized our order had been misplaced and was delayed in coming out. Despite the fact that we didn't even notice and without asking, the staff comped our meal. My only regret is that I can't remember the name of our server to fully thank her for making what was our 15th Anniversary brunch a very memorable occasion.
This is an absolutely amazing space in the heart of Charlotte! We had brunch there and the food was exquisite and the service was great!
First dining experience in Charlotte - food was excellent. The noise level made conversation difficult. The server, though polite, kept coming back to clear away unused utensils and used plates while we were still eating. It was distracting.
Drinks were delicious, food was delicious, service was excellent. Perfect for a date night. Highly recommend!
