Great place to have a business dinner. Food was awesome, staff was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. All three courses and the wine were fantastic. Will be back!
I went on a Sunday and there were very few guests in the restaurant. First, I ordered Ketel One with tonic and there was no discernible alcohol in my drink whatsoever. For my meal, I ordered paella and was served crab legs over a few pieces of shrimp with a little couscous. If I wanted to take the time to crack my own crab legs, I would have ordered it. Furthermore, the meal was not good with little or no flavor...Huge disappointment!
We waited an hour before the waitress acknowledged that our food wasn’t on our table yet, she offered to buy us a drink, then came back later and said “bad news your food isn’t on your table, good news we’re paying for your whole meal” that didn’t matter in any way..we were going to a show and had 15 mins to choke down our food and we had to take an Uber to the show because we cut the time so close that we couldn’t walk. The waitress was very apologetic and we still tipped her but the whole experience really wasn’t worth it it was really expensive for really no reason at all.
We came here for our anniversary! Steve, David, and Sam were amazing!!! We came here for brunch where Sam was an amazing server!! We went to the bar for after brunch drinks and had the awesome servers David and Steve!! We were out of towners from Maryland and would highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Very loud for a business meeting, but for a social event, it would be great. Delicious food and great service.
A wonderful date night. We tried the octopus and daily app (shishito peppers) for our first course, we were both impressed. I chose scallops for my entree which were cooked to perfection. We enjoyed excellent service by Gabe and Christmas decor that really put us in the Christmas spirit.
1st visit. Impressed. I will return for date night with wife and friends!
Mimosa flights were very refreshing and the lobster roll was bery delicious
Overall displeased and probably wouldn't go back. The atmosphere (decor) is nice except the extremely negative and aggressive painted words on the ceiling. Server was hard to understand, talked too fast and garbled. My wife's wine came out and the wine I chose was not available, so my wife sat and stared at a glass of wine that she didn't want to drink without me until mine finally came out, some 10 minutes later. After we ordered our dinner, we didn't see the waiter for at least 30 minutes. We had pasta (my wife) and seared scallops (me) - not a huge time consuming order. He finally came out and said the manager was bringing our dinners. Manager showed up 10 minutes later and apologized for the wait. Never offered to comp any part of the meal. Offered more wine, but we were ready to leave at that point so wine wasn't worth it. $150 for 2 glasses of wine, 2 salads, pasta, and scallops.
5Church is a great spot for dinner before the theatre/symphony/uptown show! We had a reservation for 6:00 PM and due to heavy traffic (ACC Football Championship game), we were delayed getting there BUT no worries as the staff was VERY attentive to our 7:30 concert and had us out and in the theatre on time! Our dinner was delicious; halibut, scallops, the turkey pie, and delicious butternut squash soup and beef steak salad! The glasses of wine were late being delivered from the bar (so we did not get charged!). We had a nice table in the corner, so we were able to enjoy some "catch-up" conversation with old friend. It was an enjoyable time and we will be back!
Great experience. Very attentive staff
Wonderful food and great service! I will definitely be back
Very good. Everything was delicious and cool atmosphere!
We had a good dining experience at 5Church. The food and service was great. The noise level is pretty high and energetic which takes away from the ambiance, but cool if you’re hanging out with friends.
Lovely restaurant and great if you are taking in a show at the Blumenthal. Window seats lovely for city scene viewing. Staff is personable and attentive. Prix fixe theatre menu is a nice draw; regular menu items can be pricey. Delish desserts! Nice wine selections; however, wine is available by ounce or bottle. This was a new option for me, lol. Nevertheless, manager/sommelier was informed and happy to talk wine. We were celebrating a bday and bday boy left with 10% off voucher for next visit. I would def return for a meal in downtown Charlotte.
Alex was the best server for brunch. He made sure our coffee was full and mimosas were never empty. Thank you 5Church and Alex for the best pre game brunch we could ever ask for!
I had a wonderful experience here for my Birthday. The hosts were very kind and the servers were nothing short of amazing. I have been here a few times before but this experience stood out even more than previous. I highly recommend for large groups and a night out with friends.
The service was attentive but several meal items we’re cooling before they were served and one was undercooked. When we mentioned to the server however they immediately addressed.
Good food, but our server was all over the place.
Average food considering the price.
Table service was wonderful! Our waiter Jake #482
did a fabulous job taking care of us, after we were disappointed about waiting over an hour for a table, even though we had a reservation. The hostess was quite mistaken saying that no tables were available while the entire upstairs was empty. If it wasn't for Jake, we would never come back again. Great food, fun atmosphere!
Thanksgiving dinner was delicious, but we had to wait 45 minutes to get our table.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner, had 6pm reservation were not seated until 6:45, ended up there until 8pm, the turkey dinner I ordered was awful, my wife ordered the scallops only 4 of them on the plate nothing else. Probably will not go back.
We went for Thanksgiving and everything was delicious!
Great ambiance. Service was top notch. Cocktails are great and unique! Great beer and wine variety.
5 Church came highly recommended, so my first visit was Thanksgiving. Big mistake. We were seated at a table that looked like it was added to accommodate the large crowd, so we sat 2 feet away from all the patrons waiting for their table. It was extremely loud from beginning to end. The server was attentive and very kind, but all the food was lukewarm, although it still had a good flavor. I wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I hoped since it was lukewarm to cold. The soup was even on the cold side. I am not sure if I will try the restaurant again on a quieter night, but I can say I would NEVER go their again on a holiday.
Our Thanksgiving meal was delicious. When we arrived at our reservation time, they were running behind. This was probably due to large family groups lingering at their tables after their meals. We waited about 40 minutes but it was all worth the wait. Our meals were cooked perfectly. The staff, from the hostess to the waiter, were gracious and friendly.
Thanksgiving was legitimately the best food I’ve ever had there. Like the turkey and ham were to die for.
Excellent experience for Easter dinner
Was very surprised with the quality and presentation for the meals we ordered considering the how busy the restaurant was on Thanksgiving evening. My wife and I both chose the blackened filet from the options offered all of which were 3 course meals. It was one of the best filet's I've ever had.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner - everything was great. Service was good - a few hiccups like bringing wrong check at the end, mixing up entrees, etc. but they were all corrected immediately.
Good Experience .. there for Thanksgiving .. good food ...good ambience ... good time 👍
They didn’t acknowledge the birthday. It took longer than normal to deliver drinks as order was placed immediately at it wasn’t busy. The hummus was extremely bland and when I commented, I was discounted. A lot of places to choose from and I picked 5Church for a special occasion that wasn’t even acknowledged. Very disappointed and sad.
My husband and I love this restaurant. We come all the time for celebrations. The food is AMAZING!!!!
Really great service!
The Croque Madame was delicious. Our favorite brunch place before the opera!
AMAZING! Love everything about this restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere is always so on point. Definitely a must try!
Well seasoned steak. Loved the potatoes. Not an overwhelming amount of food.
Was very disappointed in the size of the dishes. 4 scallops for $36 and nothing really special about them. Will not be back
Food was very average. We had the octopus, tuna tartare, and cheese flatbread and I wouldn’t order anything again. They brought out our entrees while we were still finishing our apps which made us feel like he had to rush so the entrees wouldn’t get cold. We had the scallops and 60 second steak and neither were memorable. During dinner there were a bunch of people taking pictures of each other with their phones as they stood against the wall of the restaurant— this went on next to our table for about 15 minutes and was very distracting and annoying (I’ll note we’re in our 30’s, not exactly old people.) And there were a couple of tables of “woo girls” whose cheers were very loud at dinner. This place was in the NYTimes 36 Hours in Charlotte which is why we went but in the 2 years since that was published this place has gone downhill. Seems like a has-been spot that now serves as pre-gaming for going out clubbing. Hard pass.
