The atmosphere is just fantastic!!
The menu covers a lot while paying special attention to each selection
Same for the cocktail and wine list!!
The food is so good and such generous portions!
We were celebrating a birthday which I noted on my reservation. This was not acknowledged in any way. The food was fine but slow to arrive. The salad arrived before the appetizer, the fresh catch of the day was out and the substitute was salmon. Salmon is not indigenous to the waters off the coast of South Carolina. The signature strip was tough and un-inspiring. The chocolate dessert was so dry that we didn’t eat it.
The social statement that is made with the decor was perfect for MLK day, but we would not waste a meal here in the future. Charleston is full of fabulous restaurants- but this is not one of them.
Waitress was slow getting to table after we were seated. However when she did come to our table her attention was great!
Beautiful restaurant. Amazingly delicious food. Friendly service
Wonderful!
Food wasn't hot, but still tasty..service was pretty slow
Excellent brunch
The best eggs benny I have ever had!
If I could give more stars I would. Incredible. The inside of this place is breath taking.
Good food
Great service by our server
Eating dinner inside an old church was a nice change of ambiance
We loved it here! Great food and great atmosphere. The manager was grumpy to the staff but we ignored it.
From the moment you walk in, you know that you are about to have a dining experience not just a meal. The architecture and decor are breathtaking as your are sitting in a beautiful stain glass church. This alone was beautiful but the food was incredible. We had the cauliflower soup, filet, sea bass, and dragon fruit cheesecake. Each had the must unique array of flavors where each aspect of the dish blended beautifully together. The staff was also very kind and knowledgeable about the dishes and drinks which was very helpful in making selections for the night since everything in the menu sounded divine. One of the best restaurants I have been to ever!
Amazing food and fabulous atmosphere! We will definitely be back next time we are in town!
It was just medioce
Entree was huge and tough
Everything least was gooo
Music was loud. People at our table couldn't hear each other talk very well. Service was slow. Soup was served without a spoon. Had to walk to the bar to ask for one. Steam buns were basically just salad on a roll with a shrimp. We were expecting something more like the Chinese steamed rolls. Salmon was well prepared and delicious. Cronuts for dessert were a little tough, Food was served mildly warm, not hot. I think this may be more of a bar that serves food than a restaurant.
Great food and atmosphere
We wanted to visit this establishment due to the decor as well as support local business for Restaurant week. We made a reservation and when we arrived we were seating right next to the servers station and bathroom. Worst seat in the house. I asked if we could move and they said it would be any where from a half an hour to an hour. We had no choice at this point to stay where we were. My friend and husband ordered a bottle of wine and then to find out after we waited for it was that they didnt have any. Food was mediocre. My soup was luke warm. My dinner was good. My friends salmon was overcooked. They did take off the wine from the bill.
We were lucky to get a last minute reservation during restaurant week. We selected from the special menu and everything was beyond our expectations. Nikki our server was prompt, insightful, and helpful. Our entire experience was great.
Food was absolutely delicious. Service was top notch. Atmosphere was very pretty. Only down side is that the tables are too close in light of the pandemic.
Simply outstanding food and environment.
This was my second visit to 5Church. I always love the food here, and the staff is so kind and attentive. It was not too loud whatsoever even though we were seated next to another table. Food was delivered beautifully and tasted so great.
Waiter recommended chicken as top menu item. Chicken was dry and inedible. No adjustments made when they checked in with us at end of meal.
Just a nice dinner out date with my wife. Seated us at a table promptly after showing up 5 minutes after our reservation time. Food was good. Oysters were $18 for 6 and were the smallest I’ve ever experienced. What bothered us the most was we ordered our 3 courses for restaurant week and added 2apps. The salads showed up first and the appetizers 1 minute later. No explanation or apology.
You spend $125 on dinner for 2 and we felt rushed. Not good. Won’t be going back.
5Church was amazing! We were celebrating a birthday and had a great time. We went during restaurant week (3 courses for $40) and the value was unbeatable.
Great food, drinks, and experience overall!
This was our first visit to 5 Church. The food was amazing and the service was great. However, I was surprised at how close together the tables were especially during the current pandemic. The other issue for me was physically getting into the restaurant. At the moment I am confined to a wheelchair under doctor’s orders to put no weight on my leg. The entrance to 5 Church has 3 brick stairs, and while it does have a center railing it was extremely difficult to get into the restaurant.
Some combo of flavors just didn't work.
A bit pricey for the food and experience.
Hubby and I had a wonderful and delicious dinner at 5Church. While in Charleston we highly recommend it! Enjoy!!
We loved our dinner at 5 Church! Excellent service, ambiance, and food.
The butcher plate was overpriced with only 2 meat selections on the board and we had to ask for the description of the meats instead of being instructed as I would have expected. The accompaniments of spreads were meager and we ran out before the bread and meat were gone. When we asked what kind of jam spread was surved, the server stated “I’m not sure, can I smell it?”. For obvious reasons this statement was unacceptable but especially now with all the Covid precautions. Our guest asked for a martini with lemon and it was brought dirty with an olive no lemon. When we asked for a correction the same martini was brought back, just minus the olives. My husband ordered a Moscow mule with rum and he said his drink lacked ginger beer and couldn’t finish it. We had planned on staying for dinner but after all the mistakes with drinks and the meat tray we decided to go somewhere else. I was definitely disappointed because I had heard really good things from our friends.
It was incredible! Our waiter was amazing and got everything right with a large group. Would go back all the time!
Just ok. Not bad but thought it would be something to talk about. Didn’t really impress us with ambiance.
The fried chicken was the best we ever had! The meatball appetizer was amazing but only comes with three meatballs.kind of pricy apps. The place was beautiful with history of the mariners church and the art inside.
Poor service, beginning with the hostess, when we arrived seven minutes before our reservation, were told to come back closer to our reservation, and then we were not seated until 10 minutes after our reservation. We then waited 15 minutes at our table before being acknowledged, and receiving water. It was least another 15 minutes before someone came to take a drink order. After placing our food order, it was 40 minutes before our appetizer arrived, and another 40 before our dinner arrived. Food was okay, nothing special. All in all a terrible service experience. So many better options in the city for the value.
WOW!! So glad we visited 5 Church on our recent visit to Charleston! The history alone is worth it. Then there's the food, service, wine list! I could go on and on. Do yourself a favor and add this spot to your must-do in Charleston!!!
Atmosphere was cool! It was very crowded considering covid, We felt kind of uncomfortable being seated so close to people on the shared bench. I think we may have just picked a bad day to try because neither of our entrees turned out very well. Our biscuits and gravy were cold. But we'd try again. The Bloody Mary was great! And the service was great.
This was our first time dining at 5Church, but it definitely won’t be our last! We went for brunch to celebrate the new year and my husband’s birthday. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding!
Perfect place to celebrate NYE
The food was very good., but not worth the $825 for the 6 of us that are light drinkers. We really wanted the fried chicken dish that they are so famous for but we could not order ANYTHING off the menu. Overall experience was fair due to staff attitude and limitations on food choices.
Food was great for New Year’s Eve. Our server seemed a little new and lost.
